The Controller and Accountant General's Department (CAGD) says it is contemplating a suit against IT company, SofTribe, for breach of confidentiality.

According to the CADG, SofTribe’s decision to make public information on the public sector payroll in its recent press statement amounts to an infringement of a discreet agreement between the two institutions.

At a press conference in Accra Tuesday, the Controller and Accountant General, Grace Francisca Adzroe said the disclosure of some sensitive documents of the department by the IT Company puts its data in a security risk.

“We also take exception to the publishing of the letters and the full payroll assurance report on the internet.

“ We will take-up the issue with the Attorney General” and act on their advice,” she warned.

SOFTribe in a statement Monday rejected claims by the Department that the software it developed for them is troubled with challenges that has contributed to the swollen public payroll structure.

The company in its defense release attached correspondents between them and the CAGD to buttress their case.

The statement issued and signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Company, Tetteh Antonio described the claims as “completely inaccurate.”

But the CAGD insists the statement doesn't entirely reflect the exchanges between the two entities.
