The Dumsor should have been solved long before he became Prez. That does not mean he should not do more to solve the problem.

Of course the power issue is a huge problem for investors and business/industry growth in the country. I know two multinational companies who did feasibility studies in the country for call centers but in the end chose India instead. It is also one of the factors that ADB chose Tunisia instead of Ghana during the conflict in Ivory Coast. The government is long over due in solving the problem -- they should have concentrated all efforts on this low hanging fruit rather than make political decision and wasted money on useless projects. Solving the infrastructure problem would be half of the work -- you can't go calling for investors when you don't have the infrastructure. It is the cart before the horse.

Am so happy with this man because he is telling Ghanians the truth. The problem has nothing doing with NPP or NDC. The Volta lake needs more water but not politics.

I believe as a state institution ECG must train it staff to be polite and deal with customer complaints not only in a professional manner but also with respect. After answering responding rudely to all questions why Dansoman & its environ have been off for close to 36 hours, the lady at ECG call centre could only end by saying after all some reas have suffered over a week darkness in the past. This is unacceptable. I do not blame her. If only she could reason how we go through sleepless nights to work with heavy eyes and poor health from no sleep, and buy prepaid electricity for her to be paid her salary. If only she has a family member who has lost his or her life or property as has been the case of numerous domestic fires resulting from Dumsor I think she will talk a bit of sense that is left in her head.If she acknowledges how many cases of stress and other health related cases resulting from ECG poor management of load shedding programme she could add some basic fcats to her dummy head. Ghana is in retrogress and ECG is leading the way. Poor Black Man Country Ghana!

In this mordern era of globalisation, they are not even ashamed to mention population growth as a factor of insufficient energy. Decentralized energy for individuals to supplement their needs may be the key. With decreasing prices for solar panels world-wide (now about 50 US cents per Watt),Government must urgently and publicly announce that individuals who can afford solar, wind and other alternative sources could bring in the systems, free of customs and other duties - to supplement their power supply. It may turn out to be a huge plus for the authorities, as pressure would then ease on the ongoing Dumsor, Dumor. If every Kofi and Ama were allowed the option to freely import alternative energy systems into the country, I bet many Ghanaians, and certainly most in the diaspora would rush to send down systems to incorporate in their homes, or help their relatives to acquire the systems. Solar, wind and other alternative small-scale power systems would then mushroom like we now find mobile phones everywhere in Ghana. ECG would then be free to cater mainly for heavy industry and other SMEs for continued productivity. Are our policy-makers in the energy sector sleeping on the job? Even cold and dark Germany is leading the way in subsidizing individuals to produce their own energy, and to supplement the power on the national grid!

Mr. Mahama is not interested in priorities; he is interested in prestigious signature projects that would deceive gullible voters, regardless of whether they are viable or not. Does the NDC government think, despite the massive corruption, they can borrow recklessly and spend their way foolishly into another mandate in 2016, when the nation is over burdened with HIPC and workers wallowing in hunger and over taxed?

Governance under the NDC government is all about deceit and 'opium of the people'. They enjoy everything under the sun but ask us to wait for our basic needs in heaven. And as they ask us to tighten our belts for future betterment, they're loosening theirs for immediate consumption. They didn't even respect our intelligence when they said we should wait for a paradise in three years. The truth is that, everything they promise is a mirage and we will never find comfort under them because; they are con-men with con plans.
