  I assumed that when you explained the role of money as a measurement of exchange of goods, you also implied services as well. Again, even when goods are exchanged directly such as the example of land for a car or vice versa, the exchange value is determined in monetary terms.
  
  On the question of consumers or people buying more or less of a particular good or goods and services when prices go up or down, that is dependent on the type of goods or services as well the demand elasticity of the goods or services. For example, when demand is inelastic, upward or downward price changes does not necessarily result in substantial changes in the quantities sold or bought, whilst when the demand is elastic, consumers respond correspondingly to changes in upwards and downwards price changes.
  
  For example, let's use kenkey as an example. I can eat only a ball of kenkey and I am the only person in my household who eats kenkey, so I will not buy two balls for lunch simply because the price has gone down. I may be tempted to buy more to keep for future use but because it becomes more fermented over time, that will deter me from buying more because it's cheap. In other words, the demand for kenkey is inelastic for me.
