Dr. Ollennu should be commended for the part he's playing to positively impact others.

Dr Trebi,sometimes when I look at the caliber of professionals and educated people Ghana have in diaspora and the country is deteriorating like this, its very sad,because we have good people with brain to make Ghana a better place but some of people incompetence has taken over our political platform just to enrich themselves,but they are clueless on how to manage Ghana.Because when a political party wins power,they just employ those who help then to win power regardless of their academic qualities,may God intervene

The Lies!!! Ghanaians lie so impulsively and so much that we can't even keep up with our own lies. I listened to the programme on BBC myself yesterday. I called my two kids to listen too. Dr. Ashitey was not even being referred to as "Doctor". If he were living here, the first thing he would have reminded Claudia Hammond is that he Dr. So So and So. Many of them are walking around in our country and can't even iodize salt.

Dr. Ashitey and others wont come to Ghana because we will lie them into extinction or dysfunction. Meanwhile as soon as we steal a bit of money here, we run abroad for holidays. We like their life yet we pretend our life here is better. But that's only because here we can steal more and not get caught. It has been happening since time immemorial.

Our lecturers in our universities cannot even compare. How many of them can even explain things properly. I was shocked at a graduate of political science from legon who couldn't define "policy". All he was busy doing was singing praises of Akuffo Addo and criticizing Mahama; I met another graduate somewhere busy praising Mahama and insulting Akuffo Addo. That's all we do, bleat like sheep. Our professors bleat and we bleat as well. S.O.S - same old sh$t!!!

Some will say Dr. Ashitey should come home and help build Ghana. I beg to disagree. He should stay where he is. If he comes here we will kill him with our mentality, lies, backwardness and lies. "Come home, come home, come home" but when he comes home, first month everyone answers his phone call; second month they stop answering his calls because now they can't deliver the promises they made to him. Third month, they've changed their phone numbers completely.

DR. ASHITEY, WELL DON BUT STAY WHERE YOU ARE. LET THE WHITEMAN BENEFIT FROM YOUR SKILLS. EVEN IF THEY DON'T RESPECT YOU, THEY WONT SAY IT TO YOUR FACE AND THEY WILL PAY YOU WELL. HERE, THEY CANNOT PAY YOU, THEY WILL TALK BEHIND YOU AND CALL YOU NAMES LIKE "BOGA (BURGER) A YE MRE" - ABROADIST IS TIRED.

Professors in tertiary institutions must read GES directives. There are many important and useful GES directives which would help them.

GES banned all forms of corporal punishment in Educational institutions but there are reports that some tertiary institutions are still carrying out this practice. Asking students to kneel down and so on.

Lecturers in tertiary institutions must recognize the fact that students in these institution are adults.

I have listened to Architects, Medical Doctors, Psychologists, Farmers, Entrepreneurs, Designers - you name it. They all feature on that programme. Next Sunday, tune in to BBC 101.3 from 10am and you are sure to learn something and hear another inspired interview. But I bet you wont, cos you will be drinking some beer somewhere and feeling ignorantly Ghanaian and stupid.

Politicians should make regulations to help limit the greed in private enterprise and retrain these STEM graduates who invest their time to study hard subjects and later find unstable jobs as technology changes in the developed world.
In Ghana 99% of engineers and scientists produced in the 1960s-80s could not find jobs in Ghana and remained or left for overseas. The few left in Ghana are never involved in national policy decisions. So what is the incentive?
Job migration happened in the 1980s in the US with lots of engineers laid off without jobs.
You can excite the youth but if smart kids study STEM and find their colleagues who went into other fields have more stable jobs and making 2-3 times their income, it is hard to have long term recruits over the coming generations.
It is nice and inspiring to have a Ghanaian recognized and we applaud Dr. Ollennu. We need our leadership to think of long term and change the short-term thinking culture. Science and Math form the basis of our health and production of goods and modern facilities in the world of humans; and hence we need to provide better involvement and incentives for our youth to interest them to learn STEM subjects.

What is the incentive that he should serve Ghana's interest? Because he was born a Ghanaian??? And what is that worth - skills in thievery, ignorance and corruption.

We must give up the notion that somehow we "own" this guy because he is Ghanaian. We don't. He is an individual and he can choose to use his skills in ways that give him the greatest satisfaction, and if that place is in the deserts of California, then so be it.
