Those are very serious charges which seek to undermine the effectiveness and trsutworthiness of the monarch. You do not adduce any evidence in your piece to support those contentions, and I'm not sure you're not placing yourself in a libelous position.
Please be advised that many of the readership in the Ghanaweb forum have discerning minds, and will not settle for mere "s... bombs", as Professor Okoampa-Ahoofe likes to say. Where's the beef in the sandwich you seek to feed us?

Whilst you may have a genuine interest in this matter and may be using Ghanaweb to put your case across, it does not help by abusing or insulting the current Asantehene and his close associates. It is also unhelpful to make serious but unsubstantiated allegations against the Asantehene such as his alleged influence in the Supreme Court presidential petition outcome.

I sometimes read some of your articles but I often stop quarter or half way because of the abuses and insults. Today, I read all because you stated you were giving some historical background but sadly the abuses, insults and allegations were all over.

I do not consider myself as an Asante, though my great grandfather was from Asante Mampong. However, as a Ghanaian, I have respect for the institution of chieftaincy, Ghanaian culture and traditions with some modernity. The Asantehene is one of the most respected in Ghana because the position is a sign of unity for the people of Asante. Of course, the current occupant might have his past but that should not be used to judge what he does today. After all, as the Asantehene he makes decisions in consultation with his elders, counsellors and sub-Chiefs.

Please make your case for Kumawu and leave out the abuses, insults and allegations. That will be more powerful and effective.

Otherwise shut up. I see this as an effort to tarnish the image of Asante and perhaps try and create disunity. There might be some more people behind this effort, taking advantage of the current unpopular Asantehene. The Asantehene,if wise, with the council, should investigate this guy and take serious action to confront him. It is unfortunate that the conduct of Asantehene and the Asanteman council may have created apathy within Asanteman. Otherwise, this so called Rockson could be dealt with in a manner to bring this matter to a close. These actions are criminal and needs appropriate response. Only idiots will buy into such fabricated allegations.

During the dispute between Techimanhene and Tuobodomhene, Adofo Rockson had these words to describe Asantehene: "WHEN ASANTEHENE SPEAKS, THE WISE LISTENS". Adofo Rockson further said,"It was a simmering chieftaincy issue that could have escalated into a war between Techiman and Tuobodom. Would their allies not have got involved if the situation had degenerated into war? Why then is Asantehene's timely intervention to forestall that possibility not being appreciated but disapproved by certain individuals who are exhibiting signs, acts, and attitudes of inferiority complex?"
Adofo Rockson further wrote:
"Asantehene does not condone acts of waywardness. Asantehene does not condone crime. This is why he came out boldly to speak against the untoward attitude of Techmanhene... Asantehene showed a quality of leadership worthy of emulation. Instead of being nervously envious and childish as they have thus far been, the critics had rather better applaud Asantehene and the Asanteman Council for their timely intervention"

Was the situation at Kumawu any different from what could have been the consequencies as pertained to Techimanhene and Tuobodomhene?
Our elders exhibited the same wisdom to settle The Kumawu chieftaincy affair. The same Asantehene does not condone acts of waywardness nor crime today as some disgruntled element in Kumawu want to take the laws into their hands. Those who listened and obeyed Asantehene's advice are still occupying their stools and has kept their rightful places in the community. Joe Fry and ex-Akwamuhene etc who thought it should be their way or the highway has suffered humiliation and has lost their positions.
Why blame Otumfour, he did not invite himself into Kumawuman affair, Joe Fry and his bunch of nation wreckers draged Kumawuman chieftaincy affair to Manhyia. KUMAWUMAN should appreciate Asantehene and The Asanteman Council for their intervention.

Are you saying that these tribal kingdoms or councils in Ghana are not operating in the ambient of Ghana constitution and are therefore breaking the law? If they are breaking the law, it is my wish that you take the case to court or are you saying these kings are above the law?The impression I am having here is that you are combining two things which make your otherwise beautiful article not to flow. Are u say saying that the tribal chiefs do not have a role to play in modern Ghana or you are writing this because of what has happened in Kumawu? I can deduce that you are writing this just because your candidate did not make it and you are aggrieved and I can understand that but what I do not understand is why you are vomiting such uncalled for insults on the personality of some individuals. Who is a rogue or a thief and how do you know that? Have it been proven in the court of law?. Please be careful of what you write about somebody if you do not have the proof to back it up.

Hmmmm, listening to all sides leave one perplex if not totally confused. Rockson is not saying that the so called traditional institutions are out of tune with time in the modern day Ghana. He is purely in favour of the system. His problem is how the confederacy is opersting. He is also conscious of the constitutional recognition of the institutions which make their activities lawful. He however seem to have serious problems with some persons, with specific focus on Otumfuo. Like you rightly said Mark, he should take the case to court that making all sorts of derogatory remarks in public about people. What we all however fail to understand is, "No king in Ghana can be brought before any court in Ghana"! When last did hear anyone taking any king to court in Ghana? A king is only judged by the laws of his own kingdom. So where we have over fifteen of these powerful kingdoms and kings, then God save us all. Insulting the Ashantehene is also not a way forward and damaging to the whole of Ghana. We must just use wisdom to get ourselves out of this, if we don't like it.
