Then in about 6 months , the country is returned to normalcy, allowing for democratic elections.

Our experience with the quack neo-communists is that, they seize power unjustifiably through coups and counter coups, and Ghanaians only suffer dictatorship, tyranny, corruption and economic mismanagement under them. Being in power now for six years, the NDC has failed again to improve the economy simply because their fundamentals are wrong. In fact, they don't have what it takes to salvage the sinking economy.

Under normal circumstances, political parties are formed to produce leaders democratically. But in the case of NDC, a tyrant created the party with state power and resources to legitimize his illegitimate regime and cling to power fraudulently. NDC is therefore, an artificial and illegitimate party followed by stomach politicians and sycophants.

MR PRESIDENT MAHAMA, we call that putting the cart infront of the horse. You develop your gas generating plants to give you the raw material before you build the plants.

When you need Solomon Nkansah to come to the rescue, he goes AWOL. This idiot of a loudmouth Ndc communicator called Bui Dam as a stupid project. What will he call the white elephant energy producing plants that have been shut down because his Ndc government put the cart in front of the horse.

Mahama and his Ndc government are wrong to insist that they are going to fix the energy problem long term and therefore Ghanaians should suffer. We can have a short term policy to address the immediate need. Then we can have a long term energy policy to address future energy problems.

The fact of the matter according to PURC, ECG and other Energy Experts is that, the government don't have the money to solve the problem in the short term.

I disagree with Casely_Hayford that Mahama must resign. The power crisis is an endemic one which unfortunately was not thought through when previous governments (especially NPP) were trying to find solutions to the problem. Secondly, it is just 'right' for the president to own responsibility for the problem since this is what he has inherited as part of the he needs to find solution too.

NPP's solution to the power problems were ill-thought!

1. Gas from Nigeria=> It is a common knowledge in buyer-supplier relations that when your supplier supply you more than 50% of your strategic input you put your 'neck' on the slaughter table of the other party. And in our case before the coming on stream of Atuabo quite recently, we depended 100% on the unreliable Nigerian gas supply. What do you expect when you rely on a supplier to supply 100% of your strategic input? For an input for the generation of electricity which has serious economic impact on your country?
2. The Bui dam=>In looking for a diversified mix of energy supply, going for a hydro power plant is not an optimal solution. When we know very well that climate change is a factor that is making our Akosombo plant inefficient to maximize hydro power generation. So why do you go back to the same source which already is problematic? Especially when both dams may be taking water from the same source?

During Kuffour's 8 long years, a more diversified sources of power generation option should have been looked at. For example if during Kuffour's time we had a 1000MW regasification plant as GE plans with the government of Ghana and other investors, we won't have been having this power crisis now.

If NPP had at least encouraged an investment in the use of solar to generate at least 50-100MW in say two of of the big cities in Ghana and replicate it at other regions, we would have been 'safe' now with power generation.

Or if NPP had encouraged at least one coal plant with 500MW power generation capacity, we will have been better off.

Or if the NPP had started the Gas plant earlier enough knowing our potential in gas discoveries, then we won't be relying solely on gas from Nigeria which is unreliable in supplies.

Mills was very strategic in quickly starting the Atuabo project. That was a good foresight. Mahama's government has signed some contracts to help generate more power, but you know that some of these projects takes time. In the short term it is always difficult to significantly increase an input/output of a resource as the economists will tell you.

In the medium-long term that is possible. So I am hopeful that Mahama's eight year rule can solve the power crisis for good!

They have done nothing - just waste money. Institutions don't work, there are no priorities, competent performance is not important, the whole country is in disarray.

Stop blaming the NPP. Blame the NDC. The PNDC/NDC has run the country for at least 26 out of the 34 years since 1981. The state of this country is a reflection of their quality and rule.

So I hold the NDC responsible and I want them out for good.

That is hypocrisy at it's best. Mr. Mahama has had more than 6 years as the President of Ghana to do something by way of improve/resolve the "dumsor" problem for us and what did he do? as typical of him, nothing. What made him think that we will give him a pass and a second chance for his unconcern, lackluster and aloof attitude he has so far shown to us regarding matters and issues that are our major worries and our concern.
I think it will be foolhardy for anyone in his/her right mind to vote for an incompetent, corrupt and selfish person like Mr. Mahama.
Let us all come together and in unison give him and his unparalleled corrupt and insensitive administration a biggest boot.

So clearly, the issue of gas to power the thermal plants is not a problem and the unavailability of gas from Nigeria cannot be factored into the litany of excuses for the power crisis in the country.
It is absolutely clear that, the John Mahama/Amissah Arthur administration has failed and cannot govern the country again, and need to RESIGN.

John Mahama has just confessed failure! Is this a vision acceptable to Ghanaians. Do you remember the promises made by Mills/Mahama about the better Ghana Agenda taking off? Well it never did take off and Mills passed away( May he rest in peace). John Mahama promised to 2013 will be better, but it turned out not be the case. Then he started promising that 2014 will be different, well that passed and things have gotten worse. Now he is not talking about 2015 because the clock is fast ticking. He just told Ghanaians in Germany that 2016 is the year of relief!
What king of mess is this? Is the problem, Mahama or NDC? I think both. LET's KICK THEM OUT!

I do not think the present President- Mahama is the cause of Ghana's electricity problems. The Country lack visionary planners/planning.It's good not to shift blame as a sitting President,though, hence his acceptance of the blame ;but any person with average thinking capability in a hindsight could infer that Mahama is not to be blamed on this one,however clueless we take him to be.The present gloomy electricity problems in the Country,is the mistake of being content or satisfied approach by previous administrations, of both Military Junta's and Elected govt,as far back as 1972 during the era of Gen Acheampong.Little was done to expand existing facilities and timely additions of other strategically sited alternatives in commensurate with the population growth for the problems to escalate into the present situation or what we see now.
I think another contributory factor is maybe Ghana settled for a Cheap design of the Akosombo Dam; coupled with lack of serious expansion recommendations to the Executive arms of govt copied to the Legislature by past VRA CEO's on a future national emergency of electricity if drastic measures were not taken to address the issue.
