  It has been reported that a reptile was pushed into the stomach of an Akyem in the Ashanti Region.
  
  If you look at the back of the cedi note you would see the picture of the Big six; so called because they were prepared to die for Ghana to achieve independence for which they were imprisoned. Of the six 3 were Akyems and a fourth was married to an Akyem who became the first lady.
  
  Why then do you hate Akyems?
  
  J. B. Danquah stood for president and was not successful. William Ofori-Attah stood for president and was not successful. Akufo Addo who is half Akyem has his story unfinished.
  
  Akyems make up more than half of the population of the Eastern Region. Today because of negative government developmental practices from independence some have become so proud that they can look at Akyems condescendingly.
  
  Over the last 100 years revenue from the Akyem-Akwatia Diamond mine, alluvial gold, cocoa and palm oil from Akyem have been used to develop the whole of Ghana including providing scholarships for some Ghanaians.

  Please let us stick to our old time of planting with seeds the GMO is not natural and harmful to the body we can not absorb it and will cause diseases in the near future.

  Science is good, but when it is motivated purely for profit margins at the expense of nature and purity of genetic pool, then there is no point believing it. We don't need scientific proof before we tell our scientist not to re-engineer what is perfectly created for food by God. There is every reason why certain foods, plants and animals are found in certain places. Through science and out of ignorance we have moved species and plants across geographic stations, across oceans into new territories, completing altering species and environment interactions. There is a repercussion for altering the natural balance of life. The pest we see in our farms is not nature intended, but repercussion of our altering of the very concept species and place factor of natural order of things. So we have created another artificial problem and we scientist keep proposing artificial solutions, sometimes with insufficient information and a lot of unknowns. Solve the the food storage, food waste and food distribution challenges and we will not require GMOs to ensure food insecurity in Ghana. Whoever is in charge of the research of GMOs in Ghana should tell the truth. Besides how much information do the scientist have when it comes to re-engineering biological resources. Stop the cheap and easy way of doing things, and lets work with nature for nature to work with us and continue to support us.

  In recent years health professionals have become alarmed by the increasing number of bacterial strains that are showing resistance to antibiotics. Bacteria develop resistance to antibiotics by creating antibiotic resistance genes through natural mutation. Biotechnologists use antibiotic resistance genes as selectable markers when inserting new genes into plants. In the early stages of the process scientists do not know if the target plant will incorporate the new gene into its genome. By attaching the desired gene to an antibiotic resistance gene the new GM plant can be tested by growing it in a solution containing the corresponding antibiotic. If the plant survives scientists know that it has taken up the antibiotic resistance gene along with the desired gene. There is concern that bacteria living in the guts of humans and animals could pick up an antibiotic resistance gene from a GM plant before the DNA becomes completely digested

DOES GHANA NEED GREATER YIELDS OR JUST BETTER MANAGEMENT (harvesting, road network, processing facilities) OF OUR CURRENT YIELDS? 2.   It is dangerous when your kitchen is in someone's house. The danger that GMO foods present to society is that on the field they can affect their type of crop and modify them. After harvest the farmer can not plant his own crop and have to buy it from a seed breeder. Another concern is that will GMO foods not modify the human organ to digest them properly? And that is a big problem.

  Prof. Walter Sandow Alhassan,am very sure you Know Prof Stephen Adai,former reactor of GIMPA,please see him and ask him whether GMOs is good for the country or not,secondly even in Europe and the US,the they now prefer Organic foods not genetically Modified Foods(GMOs),when i was a boy,now am a young man by the way,any time it rains,even on refuse dumps(borla)you see Tomatoes,mangoes,pepper seddlings,germinating all over.Now you cannot see any because we have destroy all with the so called GMOs.Even Maize,we need to buy Maize seeds to plant because we can no more use some of the seeds of the harvested ones to plant again,it will give us low yield.Prof Alhassan,please try and visit some farmers so that they tell what they are going through.Importation of seeds for Agriculture in the country also means more US dollars need to do that job and hence the Currency(Cedis) depreciation goes on as well.Prof Alhassan,why are you pushing us into darkness?Remember Ghana is the only Country we have.Please let us keep it up,be honest,honourable,faithful and tell the Truth for our Country Ghana.God richly Bless Ghana.

India build silos, buys crops from farmers at the farm age, preserve them and sell them to the population subsidized. In India people go to the Food Distribution Corporation to buy food.   GMOs is absolutely not farmers friendly so please stop this talk about"scientific"advancement in agriculture.Developed countries have well researched system when it comes to agriculture but their own scientists can tell you that GMOs are not as safe as the agro businesses are telling developing countries like Ghana.If we allow these people with so called knowledge about the goodness of GMOs,Ghana will end up spending our scarce resources in fighting against crop diseases that will be resistant to all known agro chemicals and guess what,the same agro businesses will be selling those chemicals to us at cut throat prices.Besides,our farmers will be legally bound to buy seeds only from the same agro businesses.This is not politics,it is reality,so lets be very careful.Even in the US it is common knowledge that Genetically Modified produce are avoided as much as possible.Remember this affects all Ghanaians,not NDC,NPP,CPP,OR PPP.Lets think twice before we add yet another insoluble problem to our already insoluble problems.
