Our experience with the quack neo-communists is that, they seize power unjustifiably through coups and counter coups, and Ghanaians only suffer dictatorship, tyranny, corruption and economic mismanagement under them. Being in power now for six years, the NDC has failed again to improve the economy simply because their fundamentals are wrong. In fact, they don't have what it takes to salvage the sinking economy.
Under normal circumstances, political parties are formed to produce leaders democratically. But in the case of NDC, a tyrant created the party with state power and resources to legitimize his illegitimate regime and cling to power fraudulently. NDC is therefore, an artificial and illegitimate party followed by stomach politicians and sycophants.

Every tribe has its gift. Total effort combine makes Ghana better. Some tribes are very enterprising and create jobs more than others. We don't have to envy them. Others provide the middle and low rank workforce and it all works well. People from my tribe hardly create jobs, let alone employ anyone, yet we think we are more enlightened and better than others. Nana Otumfuo Osei Tutu, Asantes are part of Ghana and one of the two regions together with Western region that contributes most towards the Ghana economy and we are tired and sick of the dumsor dumsor discrimination.
Western region chiefs are demanding ten percent of the oil revenue and even Volta region where oil has not been discovered yet are sounding the note that they will demand ten percent if oil is discovered in that region. What percentage did the government give to Ashanti region for all the gold Ashanti region has contributed to develop Accra?

This is tantamount to irresponsible journalism. The secret of success in anything you do (including journalism) is maintaining your integrity, honesty and high quality investigative reporting. You might be right. I am not in Ghana but the information I get from family, friends and the radio stations is that, as at now, residents of Kumasi receive three hours of electricity and twenty four hours of light off whilst Accra gets twelve hour of electricity and twenty four hours of light off.
Why is Kumasi being discriminated against and nobody is doing anything about it? The fact that Ashanti region voted for Npp does not mean we have forfeited our share of the national cake when we contributes more to the national cake than any other region, maybe except Western region.
Ashanti region with our Ahafo brothers and sisters and our brethren in Koforidua and other parts of Eastern region can secede and form our own country if that is what is going to take and leave this stupid Ghana nonsense behind.

After all, Asantes have indeed been crying out loud about not getting whatever jobs they think they are qualified for and deserve since the overthrow of the CPP regime in 1966; not since JJ came to power, and not since Mills came to power, and not since Mahama assumed the presidency. It reached its apogee during the 1969 General Elections campaign when Busia, their Bono subject, led the wailing pack. And who are denying them the jobs? Ewes! A foreigner, Dennis Austin, captured the pathos from the on start just too well and it won't do us any harm to revisit what he wrote and my own comments in my article "Telling It As It Is."
From Denis Austin's book, Ghana Observed (1976: 125), Manchester University Press and Africana Publishing Company, we read about the anti-Ewe hysteria prior to the election that brought Dr K.A. Busia's Progress Party to power in 1969. Please bear with my long quote.

"A surprising and disagreeable novelty of the election was the extraordinary anti-Ewe sentiment that was expressed in conversation with many of those who were against Gbedemah and his party. One can explain this very strong animus not simply by a dislike of Gbedema's reappearance in political life but in relation to events after 1966 coup. Suddenly there were the soldiers and the police, and everyone bust out singing, but when the music died away it was noticed that the NLC was commanded (it seemed) by minorities: Ewe and Ga. When Ankra (a Ga) was moved out, and charges were brought over-hastily by Harlley against the Chief of the Defence Staff, Michael Otu, the evidence to many was overwhelming. It was all an Ewe plot. Soon Ghana would be run for the benefit of an energetic minority, operating first within the armed forces, and now behind Gbedemah. "Appoint an Ewe to a public corporation or to a government department and within a year the entire hierarchy down to the messenger will be Ewe.” So the argument ran.
[MY COMMENTS: As it is still running today, as shown by a piece on the web site of the Ghanaian Chronicle I have posted below - one reason for the ongoing Yaa Asantewaa fracas].
Austin continues:
"And there was always some evidence for it, since the Ewe, deprived of any natural wealth in their barren region, have for many years been energetic in seizing the opportunities of public employment, including positions in the army and police, which wealthier communities (like the Akan) did not wish to occupy. In practice, looking through the list of senior officers in government departments and the public corporations, the evidence is certainly not clear of any Ewe domination: it could hardly be so in view of their number. (MY COMMENT: JUST OVER 13 % OF GHANA'S POP.). But a belief does not, of course have to be true for people to hold it fervently.
Now there is an Akan-dominated government of an Akan-dominated society. Were I to become, by some improbable change of fate, leader of the governing party I would be much less apprehensive of my Ewe opponents in front than of the large and expectant following behind. I would be fearful too of the ambitions of those now excluded from power, remembering the Songs of Innocence that:
The strongest poison ever known
Came from Caesar's laurel crown".

Wise words indeed! But were the reactionary PP members told then, they would not have paid any heed. After assuming power, after a coup in which some Ewe officers played dominant roles, they set out to dismiss mostly Ewes, some few Gas and others known to be sympathetic to the banned CPP from their posts. They achieved this through the insertion of the first infamous Transitional Provisions in a Constitution of Ghana, attempts to deprive Ewes of their jobs having failed during the latter years of the NLC. This is the backdrop to the struggle Awoonor briefly mentioned in his ‘famous’ book, and for that, he became an object of insult to all kinds of puny Akan boys and girls with some modicum of literacy. They (PP) did not last even 2 years in office! I can comment deeper on the above quote, since my own father was one key person who gave evidence [in the removal of Ankra], and was before then discriminated against after the coup. And there was plenty to tell, since the charges were true. Hope the official, classified documents of the hearing in camera should now be declassified to stop future speculation. I was big enough to know what was happening then, right from the 1966 coup.
My own father, being the most qualified around, was persuaded to forego confirmation for a post he had been acting in for years under the CPP regime (the CPP big-wigs thought only whites could hold the post!), just to allow a Ga to assume it, as Ewes were supposed to be already too many in similar posts! It was indeed a case of jobs for the boys all over again! So there was some sort of Affirmative Action going on to allow newly qualified Akans and others to also assume posts they did not formerly want.

If Ashantesnhave forgotten, when Kuffuor was in power, his administration was dominated by Akans with Ashates dominating. I think the NDC is more diverse than NPP and Ashantes never appreciate anything the NDC does. The PV Obengs, Ohene Agyekum, Kwabena Duffour, Oteng-Adjei, Frizt Baffuor, Dr. Agyemang Mensah, are all examples of non discriminatory tendencies against the Ashantes.

Indeed, from the Western region to the Eastern region, from the 3 Northern regions to the Volta region, from the Asante to the Brong Ahafo region, from the Central to the Greater Accra region, Ghanaians are suffering under the excruciating weight of the bad policies, mismanagement, looting, incompetence and ineffective leadership, that has brought the country to it's knees, within a matter of just a little over 6years.
It's not an Asante phenomenon, but a Ghana phenomenon.
The Mahama-led NDC gov't has failed completely and they have not exhibited the ability to govern, they have not exhibited the ability to manage the country prudently, they have not exhibited the ability to lead and that is why, the country is in shambles.
Ghanaians are saying enough is enough and the Mahama NDC gov't should GO.

It is true that Asantefuo and the Asante Region have been neglected under this NDC government, pursuant to what then president Atta Mills said was the "Asante Project," a policy intended to ‘sideline’ Asante, and also, to not provide much or any of the national cake to the development of the Asante Region. Asantefuo do not want handouts and government appointments. We just want our fair share.
And no Asante Chief, let alone the Asantehene will ever complain to a sitting president in the manner that Ho Chief Afede said to then president Atta Mills, that president Kufour made Ewes “feel like foreigners” during his administration.
Nor will Asante House Chiefs send delegations to other regions to implore people to vote for a particular party, as Afede and the Volta Region House of Chiefs did traveling to Cape Coast to urge their corresponding body to tell their people to vote NDC.
Unfortunately for the NDC, no government, in Ghana has been able, and will NEVER be able to destroy the individual drive ofAsantefuo to succeed in their own terms.
Individual Asatefuo continue to be successful in whatever they decide to do.

A lot of Asante businessmen were targeted by him to the extent that Rawlings openly campaigned for the boycott of a prominent Asante businessman and his company.
This is the reason why most Asantes are not happy when they see their King cozying with any NDC government.

Now, if the Asantehene has even any such credible information regarding deliberate discrimination against Ashantis by the Government, it would be most prudent for the Asantehene to take the matter up in private with the Executive first, before going public with such a dangerous pronouncement depending on the outcome of such a meeting with the President.
Meanwhile, this story does not demonstrate the Solomonic wisdom associated with the Otumfuor on such sensitive matters without a concrete Statistical data in hand to support such a claim.
I would hope if the Asantehene really made those angry comments, he was not just attempting to recapture some of the lost respect a few die-hard radical Ashanti NPP members claim to have incurred for him lately. I am afraid by doing so, the Otumfuor would be playing into the hands of those who want him to claim the patronage of the NPP as a bona fide Asante Party that all Asantehenes MUST unconditionally support. That would be a most dangerous trajectory for Manhyia in our modern Politics.
This is a most tribalistically divisive utterance after Akufo-Addo's 'all die be die' crap. It has the tendency to revive and deepen the ethnic divide that many have accused Akufo-Addo as leading the NPP to bring into our Politics. It would hurt the NPP more than help it in the next Elections.
It is most unwise for any Chief to make any such claim without having the data to support it. Surely, our Civil Servants have long been known to play nepotism and tribalism with Government jobs. It is, however, strange that the Asantehene did not bring it up during the NPP Administration under Kufuor but now. Even more so, the Asantehene has recently been under massive criticism and scourge of some puny-minded tribalists for showing some warmth towards the President. A case in point is when some complained that he should not have 'partied' in merriment with the President as some claim a certain recent video revealed.
So, if it is under the duress of such criticism that the Asantehene has suddenly taken this public stand to claim discrimination against Ashantis so that he wins back some of his lost love with those disgruntled few, that would be even more undignified a stance and cause a precipitous plunge of his prestige.
If the Story is not true, then the Daily Guide must be strongly sanctioned by the Media Commission and even the Parliament for peddling in such loose talk that has the potential to set the Nation ablaze. Manhyia should also sit up and take the Daily Guide to task for putting the Asantehene in such a precarious national situation.
Intelligent NPP leaders must stand up to question any of their own who may be forcing the Asantehene's hand into this mess.
Any charge of such discrimination must be taken most seriously and fully investigated by the Government, both the Executive and the Legislature and even the Judiciary.
