“In the last six years, the NDC has borrowed US$27 billion. Before that, we, the NPP, borrowed a total of US$5.5 billion in eight years. Compare that to the NDC borrowing $27 billion in six years and ask yourself what they have done with all that money,” the running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo said.

He said, though a lot more money has been spent, it is a paradox of economic management that this level of excessive spending has only led to greater hardships being visited on the people.

“NDC inherited a public debt stock of GHS9.5 billion in 2009,” the former Deputy Governor of the central bank said. “Today, Ghana’s debt has gone up to GHS65.7 billion. So when I say the stakes are high I am talking about the destiny of our country, Ghana, the future of the youth.”

“The NDC has been taxing everything, including condoms and cutlasses. In terms of resources, this NDC government has had more resources than any other government. We did not have oil. Yet, Ghanaians know what we did with the limited resources we had. We spent money responsibly to create the NHIS, introduce Capitation Grant, expand access to education, we spent wisely on infrastructure and built more roads than any other government,” he said.

I cannot believe politics make even decent men spew rubbish such as one coming from Alan. My question to Alan is what will he do if he is faced with a reactive position when strategic position by previous governments have failed due to lack of several issues such as is facing the MAHAMA led administration ? Will he go for strategic position or reactive position in solving the problems first before restrategising or go leave the reactive position thereby leaving the accumulated problems to pile up and go straight to strategizing ?

Most nations of the world, most notably, Western Europe and the Americas with exception of USA, Germany and of course Communist China have been on economic meltdown since late 2007.

Is there ever a need for critical thinking if the NPP and its leadership look up to UK for everything including how to breathe? Don't give us this crap about critical thinking. Where was the critical thinking under Kufour’s administration of 8 darn years when they could not fully resolve Ghana's electricity problems? Critical economic thinking would have dictated to them that the one sure way to growth and economic independence and prosperity is the full flow and uninterruptible electricity in Ghana; NPP could have spent time moving heaven and earth to get it done in 8 years.

Watch it! The NDC will soon call for Mr. Alan Kyeremateng's head, for pointing things out about the way forward for Ghana's economy. This is why I've always maintained that the John Mahama-led NDC gov't is clueless and incompetent.

They've been in power for over 6yrs and can't figure out what's the best strategy to fix our economy. Instead, the NDC have been using vile propaganda and lies to hang on to power; they can't do anything good for mother Ghana and it's time they're shown the RED card. 2016 should a year for positive action by the Ghanaians electorate, to boot NDC out of power!
