Afriyie Ankrah looted and upon uttering the famous words "open sesame" in the story of Ali Baba and the 40 thieves, he was gleefully welcomed into the grotto of Ghana's economic collapse, described by Prof. Amoako as the den of criminals.
Adu Asare is also in there so it's no surprise he's defending Mahama Ayariga.
Besides the record is clear. The Mahama-led NDC gov't is thieving the resources of the state and the evidence is there to support this position.
The Supreme Court has given it's verdict of a number of such cases, and incidentally, a former Attorney General Martin Alamisi Benz Kaiser Amidu-Citizen Vigilante was forcefully shoved out, when he suffered a bout of consciousness and resolved to stem the tide of wanton thievery by the Mahama-led NDC gov't. It never happened and today, Ghana is in a financial and economic catastrophe and chaos. So what is Adu Asare going on about?

A recent 3D seismic reconnaissance survey proved that Ghana is blessed with much more than we are showcasing now before the world. From a huge deposit of iron ore, more bauxite, more oil and gas, a sizable amount of copper and what have you. In fact, it's all over the place and not reserved only in those five regions he mentioned. The question now is time and the necessary investment to bring all these on stream. So, if a learn man, the calibre of Mr. Osafo Marfo, whom I do respect a great deal, utters such unguarded garbage, it rushes my blood to the head much faster and the question of WHY come longing. If this tape that is circulating is really his, then I am at a loss to say the least.

Henceforth, ETHNIC MONITORING & GENDER MONITORING should be introduced in our Civil Service and in ALL areas of employment in the motherland. This will end the inequality in Recruitment in certain places.

I am not impressed a bit about this response in the name of the NDC party. They must go beyond these simple platitudes and show by providing statistical data WHY Osafo Marfo is wrong and is just a diabolical and bigoted ethnocentric politician, just as many of the members of the NPP.

First, those claims have been aired by the leaders, members and supporters of the NPP in one form or the other over the decades. It'd be dishonest on the of anybody, unless the person is a victim of sheer ignorance, to claim that he or she is not aware of such claims in the past. I recollect one extended argument we of the Moral Brigade had on SIL with Dr Kofi Ellison and his equally ignorant and bigoted supporters over whether cocoa is produced in the VR too. They insisted that that was not the case, and we from the VR were just parasites and free loaders on them "these Akans".

And I recollect I had quoted, in rebutting these claims, on more than one occasion from the compact 1991 Facts and Figures released by the Min. of Agric titled Agriculture in Ghana to show how an insignificant contribution cocoa makes to total agric GDP compared to other crops, as against its contribution to export earnings where it is very significant. Agric in total then contributed abt 50% of GDP and 60% of export earnings. So by 1991, roots and tubers, comprising cassava, yam and cocoyam, topped the list with 46% of agric GDP, with yam said to be experiencing the greatest growth in area planted. "Puna" yam is of course the king of yams in the overseas market and no doubt has the potential to be a big foreign exchange earner for Ghana and poverty ending product in the North if the successive govts have any clues how to do it.

Cocoa, the second single contributor contributesd a mere 13% compared to the 9% contributed by plantain.

Forestry the 3rd largest contributed 11%. Cereals (maize, rice, sorghum and millet) contributed 7%. Livestock 5%. Fisheries 4%. Fruits and vegetables 3%. Others 2%.

So there we have it! The question is who are producing those products, not only where they are being produced. Polly Hill has mapped this for cocoa in her seminal classic The Migrant Cocoa Farmers of Southern Ghana and others on the agric sector in Ghana, specifically fishing, and livestock in the southern VR in the Bator area in Tongu. I bet she was surprised to discover that most of the cattle then was owned by Anlos, not the people of Tongu.

We can do this for the mining sector too, just as the other sectors, such as services, contributing the other now over 50% of GDP. That's the kind of analysis we expect "these Akans" to produce to back their claims and the the ruling NDC to produce to debunk them. Anything short of that is trifle and the "dangerous" claims shall continue to be made by "these Akans."

First, resources are in abundance in all the other regions of Ghana except that they have not been fully identified and/or exploited. Secondly, if by resources we mean only gold and other minerals, cocoa, oil etc then we are mistaken because these are only natural resources. Human resource is also very important and no one can say the other regions lack these. So it takes a combination of natural and human resources to bring about development. And the fact that one region "may lack" natural resources does not consign its citizens to the staus of slaves in their own country, always to be ruled and never to rule.

The NDC always uses tribal sentiments to win
elections but yet turn round to tag NPP as
"ethnocentrics."

THE HARD TRUTH: Ashantis (Asantes) are the
most hated tribe in Ghana. Tag anything Ashanti
(Asante) and you will be guaranteed that it will not
see the support of most of the other tribes.
Ashantis are tagged as tribal people but Kumasi is
the only city in Ghana you will find sub-towns
(suburbs) of all the major ethnic groups in Ghana.
At the heart of Kumasi, you will find Anloga
(predominantly Ewes); Asawase, Aboabo, Alabar
(predominantly Hausa and Northerners); Agric-
Nzema (Nzema descendants), etc. These people
have been living in harmony with Ashantis for
decades but yet hate on Ashantis which
unfortunately transcends to NPP for no apparent
reason has always been a major strategy of the
NDC.

Ashantis are the only people who did not dispute
the renaming of 'their' Sports Stadium. Even
though Baba Yara was of a Northern descent, they
gladly welcomed the name. "We never say we are
going to Kumasi Sports Stadium, we proudly say
we are going to BABA YARA. "

Ashantis have kept quiet for long. At times people
who are not Ashantis make unkind tribal
comments, because they made those remarks in
good twi language, Ashantis take the fall even
though the speaker might not be an Ashanti.

NDC, Keep on turning tribes against each other for
political gains, you will wake up one day to find
Ghana burnt down to ashes.

This is very true and disheartening when you compare the greater number of districts in the Volta region to the smaller number of districts in the Western region.
I'm calling on hard-core NPP supporters who often make mean comments about fellow Akans for the roll they've played in breaking up the Akan family the great disadvantage of their own party and people. They should sit down and think.

As a party and gov't, they should be very afraid when John Mahama's name is synonymous with the worst power crisis that reverberates and echoes throughout the economy and affects every single facet of it, education in this case students who cannot learn during prep hours because there is no power leading to the erosion of any meaningful progress if any, made with respect to the attainment of quality standards, health where the power crisis is leading to the loss of lives on a scale and at a rate involving premature babies, infants, toddlers, children, teenagers, adults, the elderly akin to a nuclear detonation, industry collapsing, folding up and crumbling like a pack of dominoes, unemployment further worsened by the loss of jobs arising from the power crisis and industry laying off hired hands in droves, manufacturing collapsing as a result of the power crisis, tax revenue that would have accrued to the state dwindling as a result of industries, small and medium scale enterprises crumbling, an increasing security threat from the lack of goods and services arising from the power crisis, export earnings falling as a result of production deficits and shortfalls arising from the power crisis, the economy consequently contracting leading to increased gov't borrowing, hyperinflation, high interest rate, falling and depreciating currency, etc,etc.

Ephson and his NDC apologists should be very worried because these matters goes to the very core of the survival of the citizenry, it is a daily experience, the citizenry are living it, that is their reality across every strata of socio-economic status, that is their mainstream across the length and breadth of the country, in every nook and cranny, village, city and hamlet.

In any case is there any merit in the alleged statement of Osafo Marfo?
A careful and in-depth analysis of the statement brings to the fore one fundamental and extremely indicting fact of the Mahama-led NDC gov't, which is the grotesque failure, incompetence and mismanagement by the Mahama NDC gov't has triggered a situation where, allegedly, based on the statement of Osafo Marfo, the case is being made for better management of the resources of the country by those who see majority of the collective resources of Ghanaians being squandered and mismanaged by the few.
It is a crisis of confidence, it is a crisis of credibility, it is a crisis of competence, it is a crisis of aptitude, it is a crisis of leadership, it is a crisis of vision, it is a crisis of intelligence because were it not to be the case, indeed, there would be no problem because the principles of equity as demanded of excellent governance would be felt as a collective, by the citizenry, irrespective of the concentration of resources.

There is a crisis of leadership and a crisis of confidence in the governance ability of the Mahama-led NDC gov't and that would cost the Mahama-led NDC gov't in 2016.

If Epshon would be true to the facts he would recall the Western region Chiefs recently had cause to complain bitterly that a chunk of the resources of the country comes from the Western region, however it was the least developed. They called for a 10% allocation of funds from the oil and gas resource to their region alone.
And this is where it gets interesting, they also said ie the Western region chiefs, they would not allow the Volta region to make any demands for any oil resource found in their region.
I would not go further to talk off the raging inferno in the NDC party itself, concerning the political permutations and dynamics, because what this shows clearly is that, Ghana is suffering from a crisis of competence, crisis of leadership, crisis of confidence, crisis of credibility and the principle of equity demanded of governance is out of the window and with it, goes the Mahama-led NDC gov't at the ballot box in 2016.

The tribal politics of division,superciliousness must belong to the shameful era of the NLM and the UP. I'd suggest to those who make the "y3n Akanfo" utterance check their Family Tree. OR IS IT BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO GENEROUS OR THEY CANNOT MANAGE THEIR OWN RESOURCES? JJ FROM THE VOLTA REGION RULED GHANA FOR ABOUT 19 YEARS, WHAT DID HE DO DIFFERENTLY TO HELP THESE FIVE REGIONS? THE LATE PROF MILLS COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING ON THAT, BUT THE NDC KICKED HIM OUT BY A STRANGE DEATH, UP TILL NOW NO ONE CAN TELL HOW THIS HONOURABLE PROFESSOR FROM THE CENTRAL REGION (AN AKAN MAN) DIED.

LOOK AT OBUASI IN THE ASHANTI REGION, WHICH SUPPOSED TO A FIRST CLASS ROAD AND MODERN HOSPITAL AND OTHER FACILITIES, IT SHOULD HAVE JUST LIKE TEMA IN ACCRA, BUT WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN OBUASI THE GOLDEN TOWN? NOT FORGETTING ABOUT TARKORADI, CAN WE BOST OF ANYTHING DIFFERENT FOR THE OIL CITY? NO!! MOST OF THE FOOD STUFFS AND TIMBEROME FROM THE BRONG AHAFO, ASHANTI AND EASTERN REGIONS, TRUE OR FALSE? HAVE THEY GOT ANY GOOD ROADS, PORTABLE WATER, QUALITY HEALTH CARE FACILITIES AND FREE (QUALITY) SCOLASHIPS FOR THEIR CHILDREN LIKE THE POEPLE OF THE NORTH? WHY?
GO JOHANNESBURG IN SOUTH AFRICA, GO TO ABERDEEN IN UK AND SEE HOW THESE CITIES HAVE BUILT DUE TO THE RESOURCES THAT COME FROM THERE. OSAFO MARFO SAID IT RIGHT. DONT ALLOW ANY PERSON FROM SOMWHERE TO DISTRACT YOU ON YOUR PRIVILEGES. THE NDC ARE CAPABLE OF DOING THAT.
EVERYDAY NEW TAPES COME OUT JUST TO DISTURB THE PUBLIC PEACE. WHAT IS STRANGE ABOUT SOMETHING WHICH EVERYBODY INCLUDING THE GAS, THE NORTHERN PEOPLE, THE VOLTA, ARE AWARE OF?
HE WAS SAYING THE RESOURCES SHOULD BE USED ONLY IN THOSE REGIONS, BUT THAT THE MANAGEMENT OF THEM SHOULD BE OF THE PEOPLE. IT DOES NOT MATTER IT IS NPP OR CPP OR NDP OR PPP OR NDC THE AKANS SHOULD BE IN CHARGE, SIMPLE.
THE AKANS SHOULD AFTER ALL THEY ARE IN THE MAJORITY. IF ALL THE DECIDE TO VOTE FOR AN AKAN LED PARTY DO YOU THINK NDC COULD EVER COME TO POWER? NO IS THE ANSWER. I SUPPORT MR OSAFO MARFO 100 PER CERT.
I KNOW MY PEOPLE FROM THE NORTH, IF WE WERE IN THE MAJORITY JUST LIKE THE AKANS IN THIS COUNTRY, WE WOULD NEVER ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN.

Every Ghanaians has got the right to speak their mind, esp. if they feel disappointed in the way the NDC and gov't is using ethnic or tribal tactics to divide the country, subdue Ghanaians and destroy the harmony and peaceful co-existence of the citizens. This has been the hidden agenda; it's been swept under the carpet for a long time.

Folks who've read some of my posting here on Ghanaweb would now understand my point. Mr. Rawlings' AFRC/P-NDC regime had a hidden agenda. Their perceived notion of the Akan dominance in Ghana's business and general being is what drove them to execute many people of the Akan decent. For 19yrs many Akan tribes people became target Rawlings' AFRC/P-NDC gov't and were subjected to all forms of humiliation, suppression, torture, confiscation of property and intimidation. For those soldiers who suffered harassment, murder and abuse and those whose friends and families were eliminated either from office or physically in the various ranks in the Armed Forces and Police etc, there couldn't have been a better time for them to tell their story other than the National Reconciliation Period granted by Kuffour's gov't.

All Akan tribes people who held high gov't or civil positions where removed and replaced by Ewes or other tribes people because Rawlings thought it was right to do so. Folks should look around or research and see what' going on in gov't right now. Today almost every important positions are being held by either Ewes. Every Ghanaians has the right to occupy positions he/she qualifies for.

NDC is so crafty and cunning that they're the very ones who'd cry foul when tribal equality issues are raised. So I'm not surprised at all for Ben Ephson to publish this in support or stand on the wrong side. This tricky national issue needs to be tackled once and for all!

These are the reasons why they [NDC]wish that Nana Akufo-Addo never becames president. Ghana has to engage in a dialogue on this dangerous tribal issue, else we're going nowhere. Mr. Osafo Marfo is speaking the truth!

People like him who are brave or have the courage to voice out these concerns that could trigger violence or tear our country apart, rather tend to get the bash for speaking up. A word to the wise, is enough
