Government officials and the general public must take note of the distinction.

When Kwaku Baako informed us about the atrocities of Kwesi Pratt during PNDC Regime, some of us did not believe until the truth was confirmed during the NRC. Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them...

This system creates sentencing guidelines that guarantee equity under the law and control of prison population.. Under this system sentencing guidelines(for min. and max penalty) will be set and listed for MOST offenses.. Judges and lawyers across the country will follow the guidelines... The only discretion the judge will have is ecquittal, probation, minimum, or THE maximum sentence.. You will not have a situation where an offense of murder under two different jurisdictions will result in 5 year prison term for one, and 50 years for the other.. In anticipation of population explosion, the sentencing guidelines could be adjusted to control the influx of prison population... I CAN OFFER SERVICES TO HAVE THIS SET UP..

Before you buy into this frequent excuse of lack of space for prisoners in Ghana, the Ministry of Interior ought to examine the total spaces available in all the prisons and farm camps.The figure of 7,000 does not include AnkafulMax which alone can take 5,000 prisoners.
What the authorities have to do is to examine the daily lock-up and the class of prisoners and shift them around to prevent congestion. We have to make good use of what we have and stop stampeding the over-burdened government.

The Minister may be sending wrong signals by making it seem as if the object of the Non-Custodial Sentence Program is mainly to reduce congestion in the Prisons: He said "the prisons in the country was constructed for 7,000 inmates but currently there are over 14,000 prisoners in the country and in some cases a cell for 24 people now had over 60 prisoners living in a very poor conditions"

Certainly, non-custodial sentence will reduce the prison population.

To have a successful Non-Custodial Setencing Program, there must be well-structured Community Service Programs and also Social Service Support Initiatives, particularly, Participant Supervision and Program Management.

While Non-Custodial Sentences can be beneficial to the Community and also the Probationer, it can be a disaster if it becomes a backdoor bypass of Prison for very serious offenses. Corruption Offenses, no matter the amount involved must have as part of their Sentencing Structure, a Community Service Program after a period of Incarceration. Community Service Programs must be designed to help manage Offender Populations and offer Rehabilitaion Opportunities and must NEVER be used to favor anybody.

This might help in dealing with some of our environmental problems. If Goat and fowl as well as some book-long but "long handed" thieves are exposed to their communities to desilt gutters and people clear rubbish for their offenses, it would not only help to decongest our prisons, but deter others because their family names would be forever soiled n no one would like that to happen to them.
I support this initiative n will promote it as it has made communities in the Western world very clean and a bit disciplined. No need for Ghanaians to indulge in insults on social media. It is a shame to hide behind these lenses to insult. We all worship God who is the Supreme deity and He hates hypocrites. Lets speak our minds not through insulting words but by the peaceful articulation of our thoughts about an issue. Thanks to you all for your understanding. God bless us all and help our cherished country Ghana.
