The fact that his party is trying to win an election does not mean he must be allowed to achieve his goal on the wings of ethnocentrism. In any case, the leader of his party has made a similar statement before and that is what has emboldened him. Because they don't want to lose the opportunity to loot the country, their plan is to play the tribal card once again and what an opportunity to bring the number one hated tribe (the Ashanti) in that plan, bingo you win the elections hands down. 2. They are continuing the plan hatched by murderer Rawlings and his Sogakope mafia to prevent Akans particularly the Ashanti's and the Akans in the eastern region to ever succeed, which will never work anyway because no one can curse who Jah has blessed. 3. Just wake up and smell the coffee. This haphazard way of doing things should stop and instead a fair national development program adopted with no need for political favouritism or canvassing.

Ghanaman, you are right that we would be better off if we could have a more permanent national program for development that would not be dictated by who or what tribe controls the leadership of the Nation.

Such a document would be only amendable by the Parliament or a completely neutral, non-partisan, non-tribal body of patriots drawn from all parts of the Country. The ideal constitution of any such body outside the Parliament, would be one that would not even bother with the tribal background of the members, so long as they are perfectly forthright and keen on doing only what is best for our Country.

However, masses often read so much into the composition of groups of that nature. When we happen to choose any such folks to plan our development and supervise its implementation, folks would immediately look for reasons why their own expectation might not have been fulfilled by such a body and complain. So, it happens the membership of such a body does not include anyone from a certain area that feels it is not having its fair share of the development, the first reason those folks would come up with is because of the absence of their folks on such a board.

Now, do we have to come from a particular place to ensure that area is well developed? No. Do we entertain nepotism in Ghana? Yes. There likes the conundrum.

We have long been conditioned to believe that our areas would get developed first, or have a greater chance of being developed, only when we have someone from our areas on the body distributing the developmental resources.

We see that mentality being ridden on by Politicians, from the President down. Remember, the late President Mills' slogan, "Adze wo fie a, n'oye"? --Meaning it is always advantageous to have a native son or daughter to be in charge of resources so that he or she could channel some home. Literally, the slogan says 'it is preferable to have wealth coming home'.

Our Politicians, especially MPs, have always campaigned with similar mentality. The idea is to organize a core of electoral supporters from one's home base. But it is not always practicable to that Politicians fulfill that promise, even if their home bases offer them the electoral support demanded.

Practically, a Politician in charge of resources directing them to his or her one's home base beyond what is naturally deserving, given our limited national resources, would suggest some nepotism is being practiced by that Politician.

He or she would be risking even criminal culpability. On the other hand, if the Politician restrains himself or herself to offer anything less than what he or she promised, that Politician risks being dumped the next election around the corner for having lied to his or her Constituents. His home base then blames him or her for only thinking of him/herself.

What the Politicians should be doing is promising only what is possibly within their legal means fair to their areas. No more, no less!

Until our folks understand that building a Nation does not always mean seeing the best for only our home bases, we would always seen the Politicians driven to lie to us, or engage in corruption to please us at home. We must be realistic and understand that all areas deserve a certain amount of development at any particular time. Continued Progress is what we must be seeking from Politicians, as the Nation grows.

We must worry, of course, that areas well-endowed with Natural Resources that form the backbone of a Nation's economic backbone, would go long without any significant development or increased financial well-being to their natives, while other less endowned areas are soaring from bounds to bounds.

It is therefore only apt for our folks not just condemn Osafo Marfo, but also seriously assess the cause for his unfortunate message to the People he was addressing.

There is almost always a good way to convey even a bad message. It is how the deservingly aggrieved victims of a blatant cheating in sharing natural resources present their grievances that matters most, if we are to avert chaos. Osafo Marfo might have misspoken to offend others. But what might have driven him to make those offensive comments must not be lost on the Public among the bruhahaa.

I hope our Politicians, especially the MPs, would stop checking what they have added to their own personal accounts, and how many Houses they have been able to build, since winning the elections, and how they could swindle us to vote for them the next time around, and rather focus more on meting out judicious distribution of our national cake without alienating any part of the Nation.

The Ndc party and government headed by President Mahama have no shame and do not respect Ghanaians. If they do President Mahama and a party in government, will not indulge in such a criminal act like bugging an opponent's party meeting, turn round and throw it at them. If this has happened in any civilized country the President will be on his way out of government. This can only occur in a country where bad behavior is deemed a smart move.
