The president has been saying that he tried to introduce electronic payment and acquisition systems into the public sector {to reduce human contact with cash} in his effort to fighting corruption, but lamented that the systems were often resisted.

This has become so monotonous that Ghanaians are beginning to wonder whether the president is actually serious and interested in fighting corruption as he claims, or it's just another crocodile's tears to deceive Ghanaians into believing that he is making an effort, while the government and its cronies amass billions of dollars at the expense of this struggling HIPC nation.
Why should Ghanaians hire a president that can't even introduce an electronic system successfully into the public sector to save us from criminals masquerading as civil servants? Mr. Mahama must be seen to be fighting corruption with all his might rather than go on lamenting helplessly like the rest of us who hired him to do the job.

We are really going down a slippery slope, soon the Muslims will demand a Sunday to Thursday school week so they can can worship at the mosque on Fridays as is done in the Arab/Muslim countries.Religious freedom means also that one respects mission/Islamic schools rules if attending those schools. But if GES sees the schools they fund as secular public schools,then they should ban all religious activities -- meaning no prayers at assembly just meet for announcements. It is either secular or parochial, can't be both. I think the mission schools sold their souls to the devil so to speak when they agreed to government funding, no way the government can tell any mission in most democratic countries to allow student free rein in any real private mission school. You either take or leave their rules. To stop government who will end up messing up the discipline in these schools, the parochial schools should start funding their schools. What does the Ghana government do right anyway? By the way, did Mills have the authority to ban libation at state functions is that constitutional? Religious freedom is more complex than we think soon the children of akomfo will demand their own uniforms etc.

Your pipes are flowing with water constantly, power supply is constant, you live in a corrupt free country, your currency, the cedi is doing wonderful, fuel price is very affordable, your hospitals are fantastic; even Atta Mills patronized them till he died, your cities are squeaky clean; garbage on the streets is a thing of the past, misappropriation of state funds is just fine, don't complain. I mean, you are just doing fine, if you complain again, we will scorn you, especially, if you are someone with a disability. Please let peace prevail in our land, Ghana. If the mission schools are supported by the government fund, then surely, the government has the right to direct them to obey the laws of the country. Christians have marginalised and bullied the rest of the religions for far too long. It is a time that this marginalisation stop. It is unfortunate that the leaders of the Christian council are showing clear defiance to the government directive. We must not this issues lightly. All parties must come together to trash things out. It is wrong to say that the muslims should take their sons and daughters out of the missions schools. This is not a solution to the problem. This issue should not a major problem to solve. One of the problems we have in Ghana is that, we lack creative teachers to deal with those not belonging to faith of the school. The solution here could be, issue some extension active in terms of extra work to the muslims whilst the church service is going on. If the fail to do it then, a negative sanction could be meted to them. Please there are wise people in Ghana to deal with this.

Unless, since you are too modern, the Ten Commandments do not make 'sense' to you anymore, you have sinned for quoting something terribly wrong and attributing it to the Prophet Muhammad.This is why people pay fees to go to school to LEARN! Whoever taught you this has done eternal damage to you. If you could be persuaded to read the Qur'an, look at Chapter 49:13 which states clearly the criterion for Salvation. It if GOD-CONSCIOUSNESS and nothing else.Read this verse in conjunction with the verse in 88:21-26. Here again, the Qur'an makes it clear that the ultimate judgment lies in the hands of God and God ALONE. In both verses, and there many others like these littered all over the Qur'an, there is NOWHERE that the Scriptural Sources of Islam talk about race as a criterion for entering or not entering Heaven!

Will the head of the school allow the christians to practice their religion separately outside the mosque ?

Candidates must think about such issues before they make their school choices. Naturally, a Catholic Institution will always make sure that institution stays catholic; same will apply to a muslim institution.

So the fact remains that all that parliament can do is TO-DO-NOTHING.
Candidates should be wise to transfer to schools of their own religion. If I were the principal of a school, I will ensure a large majority of my students practice the faith of that institution.
The president cannot decree anything else. NOT IN A DEMOCRACY !!!

Tension is gradually mounting looking at the comments under this article. Now the issue is simple. We have schools that are neutral and that is the government schools. This schools are not practising compulsory religious rituals un like the mission schools. Why can't moslems attend such schools but the mission ones that have the strict rules and regulations that conflicts with that of Islam. This is my country these are my rules any one who can obey these rules should just exit period. I don't think Christians can send chairs and benches to mosques. They have to abide by their rules. I don't also think Christians can sing with drums in mosques also, so you see if the kitchen is too hot for you get out. No one is forcing them to to mission school. The word is MISSION school. How many Christians go to masala ta? Becos as Christians they can't adhere to their rules so an attempt to go there will mean they want to create confusion. The politicians will be the first to be targeted so they should bring the confusion!

These are all plans aimed at suppressing Christianity to please the OIC.
OIC means Organization of Islamic Countries. They have member nations across the globe and Prez Mahama is seriously working hard to send Ghana to OIC's Observer Status so that he can get some funding to buy votes in the Zongos and other Muslim communities since such funds are only allowed to be spent in such places. One of the conditions needed to qualify to the OIC Observer Status is to scrap Christian mission schools. Ghanaians must be careful since a similar thing happened in Nigeria under the military regime of Gen Babangida and it brought a lot of chaos in that country and collapsed their secondary school education. Ghanaian Catholic and Methodist Bishops should please contact Bishop Jatau of Kaduna State of Nigeria he has anti-dotes to some of these things.

If the president is speaking about public schools, he is right about that but the problem is, when the government took over the mission schools, what changes did they make to make it all inclusive? Do you know any changes they made to replace the rules and regulations which exist in the schools? Just paying the teachers isn't enough or putting the school under the Ghana Education Service isn't the end of it. The government should have put some structures in place to replace the principles that exist in the schools.

As we speak, the old rules and regulations that was in place when the schools were set up, still reign supreme so, what is the president saying?

The same situation happened in the US when someone went to the Supreme court to challenge morning devotion in public schools. What was the end result? The nation is paying dearly for that stupid court ruling in the sense that chaos has taken over the public schools. Shootings, disrespect, immorality etc reign supreme in the public schools and can they go back and make amends? Hell no. We will pay dearly somewhere down the road.

What happens inside the mosque is Islamic worship and nobody goes there to do another type of worship. And there is no attraction for a non-muslim worshiper to go into the mosque in the first place.It is the same inside a Christian church or a fetish shrine - nobody goes there to do another type of worship and there is no attraction for a non-Christian or non-fetish worshiper to go there in the first place.
In a secular or non-religious school, irrespective of whether it was built by a Religious Mission or not,the situation is different. Once you have built a school to prepare students to write their BECE or WAEC examinations, all sorts of students having different religious beliefs will be attracted to attend unless you reject the applications of those who are of different beliefs. After admitting students whose beliefs are different from yours, it becomes imperative not to force your religion on them.
At any rate, what will a religious Mission gain if it forces its religious worship on persons of other faiths? Religion is a thing of the heart and if someone's heart is not with your type of religion, it is in vain to force him to accept yours.

Furthermore the President swore to uphold, protect and the constitution at the peril of his life. I believe that is what he is doing. If the mission schools (Christian & Muslim) feel threatened by Presidential directives, the Supreme Court is there to stop him. Currently what some of these our christian clergy are doing is contrary to the Bible says in Roman 13 (1-4). Let us dialogue for peace to prevail to cotinue in our unity in diversity. The Black and White keys om the piano keyboard should always be guiding principle to propel this nation.

Having realized that right thinking people in the country have lost confidence in his Administration and that defeat stirs at his face in 2016 Mahama has become so desperate that he has to court the favour of Moslems by setting them up against Christians which is very dangerous for peace of the country I therefore wish to advise the leaders of the two groups jaw jaw on the issue and reject the stupid directives from Mahama.

When we gleefully accept scholarships to our wards to study in some of the Saudi institutions where religious extremism is taught them, what do you expect from such students when they return home? They have to practice what they have learned to show their compatriots " modern" trends.
Is it therefore surprising that for centuries Christian students attended Moslem institutions and the vice-versa without any talk of one indoctrinating the other but suddenly this has become a big issue?
Take a cursory look at what is happening in the World where religious fundamentalism exists and you will certainly find confusion and destruction of human lives galore!
It is therefore sad that the first gentleman of this land choose to wade into this slippery grounds by more or less placing a "fatwa" on heads of institutions who had over the years been going about their duties without problems but some fundamentalists now want them to depart from the norm and are surprisingly getting a tacit support from the President of the land!! What a shame.

If you're a Muslim kid and your family send you to a mission school, you have to abide by the rules of the mission.
If a Muslim feel that his kid should not abide the rules, then send your kid to the Islam makarata for nothing school.
Missionary schools are the foundation of good education in Ghana.
This is a backward idea from the Muslims in Ghana.
If you attend ahmadiya secondary school in kumasi, when the Muslims go to worship on Fridays, there's no teaching that day.
Do the Christian kids ask for special classes, when their Muslim friends go to worship.
