The president has been saying that he tried to introduce electronic payment and acquisition systems into the public sector {to reduce human contact with cash} in his effort to fighting corruption, but lamented that the systems were often resisted.

This has become so monotonous that Ghanaians are beginning to wonder whether the president is actually serious and interested in fighting corruption as he claims, or it's just another crocodile's tears to deceive Ghanaians into believing that he is making an effort, while the government and its cronies amass billions of dollars at the expense of this struggling HIPC nation.
Why should Ghanaians hire a president that can't even introduce an electronic system successfully into the public sector to save us from criminals masquerading as civil servants? Mr. Mahama must be seen to be fighting corruption with all his might rather than go on lamenting helplessly like the rest of us who hired him to do the job.

Ghanaians can still be proud of being the vanguard of African and third world Liberation. Today, 58years ago Kwame Nkrumah said this:

"At long last, the battle has ended!
And thus Ghana, your beloved country is free forever.

And yet again I want to take the opportunity to thank the chiefs and people of this country, the youth, the farmers, the women who have so nobly fought and won this battle.
Also I want to thank the valiant ex-service men who have so co-operated with me in this mighty task of freeing our country from foreign rule and imperialism.

And as I pointed out... I made it quite clear that from now on – today – we must change our attitudes, our minds, we must realise that from now on, we are no more a colonial but a free and independent people.

Reshaping Ghana's destiny

We have awakened. We will not sleep anymore. Today, from now on, there is a new African in the world!
That new African is ready to fight his own battles and show that after all, the black man is capable of managing his own affairs.
We are going to demonstrate to the world, to the other nations, that we are prepared to lay our own foundation.

Our own African identity
As I said in the assembly just minutes ago, I made a point that we are going to create our own African personality and identity. It's the only way that we can show the world that we are ready for own own battles.
But today, may I call upon you all - that on this great day, let us all remember that nothing in the world can be done unless it's had the purport and support of God.

We have won the battle and we again re-dedicate ourselves ... Our independence is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation of Africa.

Let us now fellow Ghanaians, let us now ask for God's blessing and for only two seconds in your thousands and millions, I want to ask you to pause only for one minute and give thanks to almighty God for having led us through our difficulties, imprisonments, hardships and suffering to have brought us to the end of our trouble today.

Premier Li meets with Obama

Premier Li Keqiang met with US President Barack Obama in Beijing on Nov 12.
The Premier said that China and the US share broad cooperation prospects and common interest in maintaining world peace and stability; promoting a strong, sustainable and balanced growth in global economy and the progress of human civilization.
Li mentioned that President Xi Jinping held a strategic meeting with President Obama and reached broad consensus.
China and the US, the world’s largest developing country and the developed country should strengthen strategic mutual trust, give full play to complementary advantages and enhance mutually beneficial cooperation. The two should properly handle differences and frictions based on the principles of mutual respect and fairness to promote Sino-US relations developing in the right way.
Li stressed that Sino-US economic and trade cooperation as a ballast and propeller for bilateral ties can have a positive multiplier effect on Sino-US relations. He hoped that the two countries can soon achieve a high-level and balanced bilateral investment treaty in a pragmatic and flexible attitude.

The two should develop new bilateral trade growth points, increase the cooperation potential of infrastructure construction and improve the level of scientific and technological cooperation. Li hoped that the US can soon take substantial measures on loosening restrictions of exporting high-tech products to China.
China and the US announced their respective post-2020 goals of coping with climate change in a joint announcement issued after the Xi-Obama talks.
This should be taken as an opportunity to expand cooperation in shale gas, nuclear, renewable energy sources and low-carbon and environmental protection technologies. Li hoped the US takes an active attitude and practical action toward exporting related energy products and technologies to China.
The Premier said he and President Obama will both head to Myanmar for the 9th East Asia Summit. China and the US, as important members of the summit, should stick to mutual trust and win-win cooperation and achieve benign interaction in the region, Li said.
The Chinese side is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the US on international and regional affairs to jointly safeguard and promote peace, development and prosperity in the region and the world beyond, Li noted.
Obama said the US and China are quite close partners, adding that expanding cooperation between the two countries, the world’s two largest economies, benefits not only the two countries but also the world.
The US hopes to step up negotiations on the treaty about bilateral investment, expand investment, push forward trade liberalization, cement cooperation in areas such as energy innovation, boost economic growth and employment in the two nations, and work toward world economic recovery, Obama pointed out.
The US welcomes more Chinese companies investing in the country, he added.
Vice-Premier Wang Yang was present at the meeting between the Premier and Obama.

Kennedy Agyapong Radio New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has revealed that he told the Chinese government to suspend the full disbursement of the $3billion loan sought by the Ghana Government.

Hon. Agyapong says he chose that path because the government had inflated the cost of the Atuabo Gas project and several other projects the loan would have been used for.

"I told them not to give out all the amount since the Government of Ghana had inflated the cost of the gas project...," he said on Accra's Okay FM.

He continued that he alerted the Chinese to the fact that 'no government would pay for the loan because of the inflation of the cost.'

The acquisition of the $3billion Chinese loan was a major catchphrase of the NDC government during the late Prof. Atta Mills’ regime.

The government hinged several developmental projects on the arrival of the loan, with NDC communicators touting it as the money to help Ghana come out of underdevelopment.

Parliament also warned about the loan.

After several delays, only one billion dollars of the amount finally arrived, and all efforts to attract the remainder have proved futile.

President John Dramani Mahama is on record to have appealed to a Chinese envoy to entreat their government to release the rest of the loan.

But all the efforts that hit the rocks, Ken Agyapong said, was due to his message to the Chinese government that subsequent Ghanaian governments won’t pay for the inflated loan.

He described his move as one that "saved Ghana"
