We have been in this country when the uncompleted extension of the runway of Kumasi Regional Airport has been described by the Mahama NDC gov't as an ultra modern international airport comparable to any international airport in the US, Germany, France, UK, Holland, China, Hong Kong, etc, etc. So what does the Mahama NDC gov't means by an ultra modern Kumasi central market because Ghanaians have had it with mediocre leadership and propaganda.

After they are hired, they must relinquish 10% of each paycheck to their "skuul fada in police". So they must continue to collect bribes from motorists etc to pay off their bosses every month until their debts are paid off. So guess how many police superiors are in on this corruption pyramid scheme.

My brothers and sisters I have read most of your comments and found that most of them are unnecessary and baseless especially those that touches on tribe and political parties. This payment of money before one is enlisted into our security services especially the police started in the yr 2000. As am wriring now, I can say with all certainty that about 90% of men and women enlisted into the service between 2000 till date does not deserve to be policemen and women but because of the money they paid and whom they know. There are a lot of police at my station who are bold and proud to say that they did not went through the hassel people are going through to become policemen. This is because after making payments they were given prospectus and without any medical examination and background checks you see them wearing the uniform and after having paid such monies, what should we expect from them? I personally have challenged the mode of enlisting people into the service nowadays. Some will say that they service is using that method if buying forms to generate income for the service. Even though that may be true and it us true, its the cause of this scams. The method initself us fraudulent on it own. Police administration knows that they have a vacancy for only 120 people. Or they will be enlisting only that number in a particular period in the. Why should they sell 3000 forms in the first place? Minority of good policemen like me were enlisted at the time you will go for the enlistment in person and when you are selected you are allowed to write an entrance examination which if you pass, you will move to the next stage of the recruitment process and as you go along some people will be dropping by way of age, academic qualification , medicals and the rest. What do we see today. Some even with pas posture are enlisted into the service. Police administration should go back the the former way of enlisting people into the system and see whether this type of shame will occure. I am calling on the government to conduct a proper investigation into the background of all enlisted into the service from the yr 2000 and see what they will see. Police adminstration has placed so much premium on money and have ended up compromising the quality of materials being employed onto the service. If the system of enlistment through the forms will not be stopped, then the forms should not be sold and they should be released enough into the system so that those who are will to serve this nation with a pure heart can go for the.

A 36-year-old shea butter trader, Aisha Asumda, has been identified as the brain behind the botched nationwide police recruitment exercise which occurred this weekend.

Interestingly, this is not Aisha’s first brush with the law.

Addressing a news conference, the police announced that Aisha is actually a convicted fraudster who is currently on bail for a similar offence.

She is currently on the police wanted list for jumping bail.

Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Service, COP Prosper Agblor, announced they have mounted a search for her.

Some wannabe police victims of the fraudulent act mentioned Aisha as the one who took money from them and issued them the fake letters, he said, confirming that one of the fraudsters arrested over the weekend said he was working with Aisha.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police Human Resource and Administration, COP Patrick Timbilla says persons currently in possession of the police recruitment letters will be treated as suspects to deter others from falling victim to similar fraud.

“Enlistment is not like selling kulikuli or groundnut” at the market, he warned prospective recruits.

To be enlisted into the police service is akin to processes one goes through before travelling, he explained, one needs a passport, visa, ticket and at times medical documents to travel especially by air.

He therefore warned the public against accepting offers from self-styled recruiters if they know that they have not gone through any selection processes.

He insisted, “We are going to arrest them (victims) for possession of false documents”.

COP Patrick Timbillah denied suggestions that recruitment into the police service was cumbersome hence the recurrence of recruitment fraud year on year.

He however maintained that recruitment into the service is done “meticulously” and only those who qualify are recruited.

If you think that the interdiction of the wellknown COP confirms that the Police are corrupt, then you lack understanding for what corruption is.
Wrongdoing is universal. All human beings have the propensity to do wrong but what happens when someone is believed or suspected to have done wrong is what marks the difference between a corrupt institution and a transparent one.
The way the Police as an institution have gone about this recruitment scandal, is impressive. From the very beginning they have shown that, they are not going to leave any stone unturned in getting to the bottom of the matter irrespective of who and who are involved. Investigating a suspected wrongful act so as to properly punish those who are liable cannot be called corruption.It would have been different if the wrong doers are left to go Scot free with the institution providing cover up. What the Police have done so far proves that, any time a policeman is involved in a wrongful act and this is brought to the attention of the authorities, it is investigated and if proved the culprits are punished. This is not the doing of a corrupt institution.

The fact still remains that the Police institution as stated by Ghanaians through countless number of surveys, the Afrobarometer reports, show clearly, the Police institution as one of the most corrupt, followed closely by the Presidency. If this is an attempt or the beginnings of an attempt to salvage their image and scale down their perch on the totem pole of corruption, then we say a good job done.
However, the level of corruption under this Mahama-led NDC gov't is so outrageous that, even the President himself has said, the consequences of such a scale and magnitude of corruption in his gov't, which he presides over is akin to mass murder.
There are Auditor General's reports showing unfathomable levels of corruption and looting from the year 2009 the Mahama-led NDC gov't took office till it's present 7th year. There are countless PAC reports that shows the nation-wrecking and retrogressive corruptible acts of this Mahama-led NDC gov't. These are facts and facts are very stubborn, very, very stubborn.
Never in the history of governance in this country has Ghana been afflicted so much with the scourge of corruption in such a crass manner and on such a grand scale than under this Mahama-led NDC gov't.
Just yesterday, the wife of the Founder of the NDC party who also happens to be one of the Founders of the NDC party, was very emphatic about the nature of corruption which had created the situation where nothing was working in the country, and the need for a change in leadership.
It remains to be seen if the people "suspected of wrongful acts" are properly punished or it is a just a cosmetic exercise just to give the impression of fighting corruption, because we have been in this country where the highest court of the land, yes, the highest court of the land the Supreme Court have adjudicated on a number of cases involving reprehensible corruptible acts, and have given clear unambiguous orders as to the actions to be taken in addressing those adjudicated cases of corruption, but nothing has been done about it; a clear breach, violation and disregard of the express orders of the Supreme Court, which can only happen in a lawless country under a lawless leadership that thumps it's nose at the Judiciary in a democracy supposed to be underpinned by the rule of law, with impunity.
Corruption is not just about institutions, it also has to do with actions or inactions of those supposed to act.
It remains to be seen if "those suspected of wrongful acts" are properly sanctioned or it is just a cosmetic exercise as stated earlier. It's one thing investigating and it is another thing when it comes to punishment. And it is a whole different thing when it comes to acting or following through with the two preceding actions, therein lies whether the system, institutions and persons are game in fighting corruption or it is a cosmetic exercise or grandstanding with a propagandist twist to the issues.

That is the only way to get to the bottom of these Police Recruitment Scams across the Country.

this scam is a well calculated event that involves the police officials & their civilian who also worked underground to collect such dubious money from desperate individuals. in June 4,2007, i went to kumasi depot were they were doing recruitment. whiles i was on the queave waiting for term for the body selection, one police told am too young to recruited and i turned round and saw a boy with police uniform, so i told the officer i was chatting with see i am taller and well stature as compare with this guy with your uniform. the man laughed and asked me do i know how he(the young guy) was recruited $ i said no. the officer told me he is protocol recruit nee he paid five million cedis (C5,000,000.00) Old currency. the police administration is fully aware and they are using Timbilla to save their dented image. all our institutions being education sector or security agency is pay before you go. Nursing,Teacher Training is also doing same.
