Without any deep reflection and wanting to ingratiate himself with the Muslim and Zongo community for the upcoming 2016 election, this shallow and narrowly educated president seeks to score cheap political points in everything he does. He is in a perpetual campaign mode, that is why even when he goes to open a toilet facility, he never stops reminding the people to vote for him and the NDC in the next elections. Every public event is a campaign stop for John Mahama.
I went to T.I. Ahmadiyya Secondary School 1977 - 1979 (Great Amass), Kumasi, a Muslim school, and I do not recall the students ever being segregated on religious grounds or forced to wear religious garbs. At the morning assembly we mixed and stood together as brothers and sisters and recited both the Muslim (Al Fatiha?) and the Christian Lord's prayers, followed by the national pledge. There was not a scintilla of discrimination or this nonsense of self-segregation coming from John Mahama, who to be frank with you, does not have the knowledge base and wisdom to be president. He plays to the gallery and makes vain promises, knowing very well he won't fulfill most of them, and the gullible people too will not hold him to account. What a joker for president. After stirring the pot, he still comes around to say that Ghana has shock absorbers to absorb the temper he has stirred by elevating a purely a school administration issue into a state of the nation address, with an ominous threat to head-teachers and school principals. Everything this guy touches turns to ashes, and I wonder why. John Mahama is a huge disappointment and embarrassment for Ghana. And now he is sleep walking us into religious turf wars and tension, the likes of which we have not seen or felt before.Wake up fool, don't trick and trip us into a Boko Haram hot bed. That your stuck-on-stupid attitude won't work here. We love our peace.
Morning assembly is not only for prayers but to receive messages and instructions, and to meet and greet your compatriots and friends. Now if you are asking the Muslims in Christian Missionary schools or Christians in Islamic schools to self-segregate, what foundation and agenda are you setting for the country? Bogus president, don't toy with our peace okay. Enough of your stupid unforced errors. The country cannot afford your vanity and corruption.
Just as the head-masters and principals of Christian schools are the administrative heads of their various schools, in a way, you John Mahama is the headmaster of Ghana. You do have Muslims in your cabinet. When you meet for prayers before cabinet or staff meeting, do you ask the Muslims to cover their ears or go to the next room so that they are not offended by Christian prayers or whatever God or prophet you pray to? If you do not excuse your Muslim cabinet ministers and staff when Christians are praying or vice-versa at a staff meeting, then what the 4uck are you asking headmasters and principals of Christian missionary schools to do?
To follow the shallow president John Mahama's logic, the speaker of the National Assembly and presiding officers of all regional and district assemblies should also ask religious minorities in their midst to go to the other room when it comes to prayers before the commencement of the day's activities and business. Useless president!
Today Muslims in Christian Missionary schools are asking to be allowed to separate or segregate themselves from the morning assemblies, ostensibly because their ears are offended by what comes from the mouths of Christians amongst them, instead of fighting for inclusion. After all how long does it take to pray at a school assembly? Tops 5 minutes. Today they are asking for their own place of assembly, separate from their Christian compatriots as if the Christians are pagans or heathens. What stops them from building from that to asking for their own sharia ruled regions tomorrow? This is the slippery road Nigeria has travelled which today has given them nothing but hydra headaches and Boko Haram. Short-sighted president should just zip it up. Enough heard from him and most of them are just hogwash and political zings and jargons that do not define any thoughtful policies and agenda.......That Ede bi keke stupor is going to cost us a lot if we don't cap it now.

This Moslem and Christian conflict is being manufactured to shroud the dumsor and corruption problems of Mahamah's government.
The Christian schools are all being financed by the government. No Moslem should be forced to participate in Christian morning devotion or whatever they call it and Christians too should not be conscripted to attend Moslem devotions. This is common sense and I don't know what the religious fanatics want in this world. We should seek our individual salvation and preach to nonbelievers to join our faith but it should not be by force.

In its worst period in 2007, we had twelve hours of light off during the day time and twelve hours of light off during the night every four days. If Ghanaians can have this now, they will not even call it a problem.
Now we have 24 hours of light off and twelve hours of light on and this has been going on for the past three years.

At its worst in 2007, people still enjoy three days of light and one day off, check the records and it lasted only eight months unlike what we have now where people get twelve hours of light on and twenty four hours of light off.

Ghana at the moment has adequate megawatts to provide all our needs and still have 820 megawatts to spare.
Ghana needs 2000 megawatts of power everyday and we have plants and Dams to produce 2820 megawatts. Even if you take the 600 megawatts of power we are losing from low water levels at the three dams, Akosombo, Bui and Kpong, we still have surplus megawatts.
Ameyaw, the problem is that this government do not have money to buy gas to fuel our thermal plants and not because we have more buildings in 2015 than we have in 2006.
You are too dim to participate in the energy discourse so go and watch the cartoon channel, ok, we need matured minds and not juveniles here. You sound like an illiterate.

Successive governments -- all of them -- never did any forward planning to sustain electricity supply in Ghana. Climate change has made sure that water levels in the Volta Lake can no longer sustain our power generation. And the problem isn't something you can just fix with the push of a button -- just as the problem took a while to come to a head, so will it take time to really fix. Get real, Man of God, and when you choose to play political opposition at least play fair; that would only be Godly.

In the first place, it's not truthful that Ghana's energy problem started from Kwame Nkrumah's time. Even if it did, how long should it take to fix it, since you seem to have an idea that it's not as easy as a "push of a button"?
Are you telling Ghanaians not to complain or register ANY concern about the problem because it's been persistent prior to NDC era? Was P/NDC not extension of NDC? And hasn't P/NDC RULED post-independence Ghana MORE years than any other party? So, do you have a coherent argument here?

Unfortunately, leaders forget that within these possible years, they are supposed to solve problems of the nation. It's unwise for any leader to leave behind a problem that may take generations to solve. Ghana is known to be peaceful, the country will not forgive any leader who causes erosion of this peace. That's why it's important how leaders conduct themselves in the face of some unfortunate misunderstanding among religious groupings. Let's sober up and look for lasting solutions.

Let us talk about the real problems facing Ghana, the dumsor, the corruption, the drugs, and the bad economy.
Our problem is not about a Christian against a Moslem. In Ghana the Christian and the Moslem loves each other, because God is love and they both claim to serve the living God. The Christian knows God throught Christ. The Moslem knows God through Mohammed. God is the common denominator of both religious bodies.

Surely not.
The issues affecting Ghanaians of various religious, ethnic, tribal, political, socio-economic, race, gender and sexual affiliation is one and the same, and we the people need to be wise, we need to reason, we need to eschew emotionalism and analyze the issues in a hard, cold and steely manner to ensure that, we the people get what we deserve and expect of the gov't in whom we entrust our mandate, or one that buys the mandate.
We cannot as a people allow the gov't of the day, set up conflict within ourselves whilst the sit or stand aloof and watch as we tear ourselves apart. That was not the reason we gave the gov't our mandate or they bought the mandate.
Ghanaians, we have to be wise and as cunning as those who seek to take advantage of our differences to sow seeds of discord, enmity and strife whilst the loot the country into the doldrums.
Ghanaians, we need to arise!!!. It is we the people, it should be us Ghanaians as a collective, against the Mahama-led NDC gov't. It should be we, the people, against the gov't.
We should demand that, the NDC gov't of John Mahama resigns immediately. It has failed and needs to resign.
Ghanaians let us sacrifice the Mahama-led NDC gov't now, lest they watch us sacrifice ourselves on the seeds of discord they intend to sow amongst ourselves.
We should demand the Mahama NDC gov't resigns now. We should sacrifice the Mahama-led NDC gov't now to save we the people. The Mahama-led NDC gov't has failed and we should demand it resigns pronto.

If the various Missions would not, and cannot, advertise to exclude any potential Students, they as well cannot impose their Religion and way of worship on the Students admitted.
If religious participation is meant to be mandatory in any of such Schools, but the Schools fail to advertise those expectations in their pre-admission requirements, they have no right, implicitly or otherwise, to compel unwilling Students to observe the Schools' religious events.
Any strictly private Missionary Schools ought to openly advertise themselves appropriately regarding religious activities. If not, they would be imposing illegally on the Students and violating their human rights to force them to worship as the Schools demand.
Let's face it. This Moderator is anti-Mahama, and seems to be an indurate hardliner and a colonial vestige in his profession, who is nolstagic of the freely-spanking era of Education in Ghana.
The Government has every right to uphold our Constitution on every issue whether or not a particular issue like 'dumsor' needs immediate and priority attention.
If we were to follow the Moderator's thinking of telling the President to just mind the 'dumsor' problem and not talk about the Muslim vs Christian Schools issue, the Pastor would then have to only mind the Churches failure to instill morality into their members, the consequence of which the spate of corruption in the Nation is getting out of hand.
It is not what the President said that is dangerous but rather the claim of the right to impose on the Students by the Churches.

The mission schools should not be under the government; they should have their own Faith-based Educational Services (FES), and receive some funding from the government.
Hence Charles Parker Allotey, the PRO of GES cannot dictate to the mission schools about attending morning devotion.
Many students currently enrolled in govt. schools may decide to attend the mission schools of their choice, might be Christian, Traditional or Muslim mission schools.
More and better mission schools have to be constructed by the government and Faith-based organizations, period.

President Mahama has a responsibility to ensure that there is peace in our land. He has called for religious tolerance and for the freedom of worship enshrined in the constitution to be respected.
Surely, he deserves the support of the Christian Council rather than this tirade from the pulpit by a prominent Christian leader.

I am always restrained to comment on this platform concerning issues affecting our Nation Ghana because of insults. But I will like to make few concerns with regards Prof. Martey comments with the greatest respect. I think it is clearly an insult to the president by Prof. for telling the president to fix dumsor and stop stoking religious conflict. In 2013, there was dumsor in Ghana when Prof. Kofi Awornu was killed in Kenya innocently. Ghanaians were calling on the president to put measures to safeguard their security the islamic militants could come to Ghana. Prof. Martey didn't tell the president to stop the measures and fix dumsor. Nigeria is suffering with Boko Haram because of religious discrimination. The president is busily working to resolve that issue. Prof. Martey didn't see the need to tell the president to stop and fix dumsor because dumsor is more than terrorism. Now we have issues of religious discrimination in Ghana which one religious sect feel discriminated and demonstrated against. As a president he has to ensure that there is peace among the populace. I listen to the president very well on this issue because I don't have anywhere to go if there is Alqaeda, Alshabab or Boko Haram. The president said, per the constitution of Ghana, nobody has the right to force someone to follow a faith that against his or her will. The president directed that no muslin or Christian student should be forced to go mosque or church. The president did not mention anyone name. I don't see why Prof. Martey took it personal and want to compare himself with the president by saying if he is in charge, he will use 3 or 6 months to solve dumsor. Who prevented prof. Martey from being in charge of this country? Or did he wants Ghanaians to beg him to be in charge of this country because he has the solution to Ghana's problems. If you feel to be president of Ghana you have the right enshrine in the constitution to avail yourself for the position but you sit aloof and insult someone painstakingly avail himself for the position for you to insult him as if you contested election with the president and Ghanaians voted him and leave you that is why you want Ghanaians to know if you were in charge you would have use 3 or 6 months to solve dumsor. I want to appeal my Rev. Prof. that if you want to do politics do politics and go behind church and be using God to intimidate people. If prof. Martey wants to solve dumsor he does not need to be president to fix dumsor. A country is like a family, everyone has a quota contribute in the development of the family. you don't to be head of family before you can contribute.

The christian faith admonitions us to give respect to people in authority and also pray for them so that we would in peace, this the bible says is good and acceptable before the Lord. Are our senior clergy men doing that in Ghana, rather they are engage petty party politics. Its the God in heaven who appoints kings or promotes people to higher offices. No matter what our senior ministers are up to, God will look into the hearts of the all the presidential candidates and will give us what we deserve.
