Tatsu Tsikata, his brothers and JJ Rawlings took billions of dollars loan from Europe and China for oil exploration and instead of going to this area, they decided to go to Keta, so that if they strike any oil, Trokosis can fight for separation when they are out of power. Why do you think Tatsu Tsikata was jailed? In actual fact, looking at what's going on in Ghana now, I wish all Akans would join the Ivory Coast after all most of our people are there. Ghana should be left with Mpepefuo, Trokosifuo and their Ga accomplices. Even this fool called Wayome from the lazy Ayigbeland can just grab over $50 million of our money and walk away with it. The former president alleged that those people fought for party positions just to protect themselves from a possible prosecution for their evil deeds.
Mr. Rawlings who was reacting to the acquittal of business man Alfred Woyome stated that prosecution presented a poor case just to protect some people in government implicated in the case.
Citing the involvement of former Attorney General, Betty Mould-Iddrisu in the Woyomegate scandal as an example, Mr. Rawlings questioned why she was left off the hook.
"Woyome the thief is now a free man because some of our people who were involved in the thievery like Betty Mould and one other person were not produce in court for interrogation to provide vital information to jail him," he fumed.
“When 40% of the corrupt people have lost their positions to enable us clean the party, 60% have now come in to protect themselves and we also vote them. Are we so stupid” he quizzed.

Let me ask you just this questions: How would you feel when you see your brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews, children, other relations and your kinsmen being butchered and dismembered like goats? Let me tell you why it is not treason.Namely,Mahama once promised the chiefs in this area that if NDC comes to power they will get 10% out of the oil benefit.That was in 2008 during the elections campaign.When NDC won in 2008,Prez Mills changed the promise of the 10% into physical projects for Western region.This was the reason why Mills went to China for the $3 billion dollars loan for infrastructure in the region and other parts of the country.The Chiefs were happy and accepted the deal.Only some $600 million dollars was disbursed for the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant.The rest of the money did not see the light of the day to sponsor the Sekondi Free Zone enclave,Rehabilitation of Railways,Construction of Landing ports for fisherman etc.These projects are still on the drawing board but the loan faced a very tough resistance from the opposition party,NPP.At end of the day govt has to withdraw from the loan contract.What it means is that the govt is oblige to suspend all the rest of the projects.You can also say the govt thus failed its promise to the people of Western region.Therefore,there ia a vaccum here and the chief is calling for a fresh negotiation if I understand his point of view well,so please cool down.Thank you.

African leaders don't learn from the past mistakes.When we talk of oil production in Africa,it is normally related to instability in the production areas.We have history of conflicts that have taken place at the oil producing areas so we should find a way to reduce tensions.It has happened all over Africa so the Chief is very right to draw govt's attention to the avoidable conflict.The Chief also knows that he cannot just split without civil war because not everybody in the Nzema area wanted to become Ivorian by force.I think govt should better sit down with the chief to find a lasting solution.I support the chief in the sense that the sea is part of his land because without the Nzema land,Ghana cannot explore that area.He has the responsibility to make his people happy in terms of infrastructural and employment.He cannot wait for 20 years before he seeks the interest of his people.This is the right time for him to put pressure on the govt rather than to keep quiet and start sabotaging operations.I hope the elders in the region will join the chief to get a fair deal from govt.Thank you.

I am not happy for the fact that the current government lack (sorry to say) common sense in dealing with issues bordering on sustainable development, for instance your stated " WAYOME, SADA, GYEEDA and whatever and whatever" prove to the fact that the government lack compelling ideas to solve our problems even though it is stated in their manifesto. I do not however associate myself to those who claim a particular tribe should be given upper-hand in matters of government policies despite the fact that that is the prevailing order of this current government (Notherners and Ewes enjoying like kings whilst akans do suffer lose especially when your name is a typical akan name like myself). And my stand will never be on the oil and gas money because there are other natural resources that the government could not manage to advance the development of Ghana. Also, moneys may have been stolen but that is not news: the leading political parties NDC and the NPP are well known notorious extortioners who loot and share... I hope this order will be reversed when the NPP comes to power if not your own words will be used against you just as the words of the NDC is being used against them today.

I can assure you that Ashantis will be the last people to suffer under NDC discrimination. Who among you is unaware of the degradation the oil industry wreaks on the environment? 30-40 years from now the environmentally unfriendly oil would have caused enough degradation to the resources the people depend on for their economic survival and socialization. No one is even demanding transparency and accountability in the disbursement and use of revenue accruing from the oil industry. Just sit back and ponder over what all of the mining communities of Obuase, Tarkwa, Abosso, Prestea, Akwatia,etc, have in common. They look like deserted shanty towns. How can we ever explain to future generations while pointing to any of those shanty towns that "this is where several hundreds of millions of dollars of gold, diamonds were mined and exported to the industrialized world. Won't we bow our heads in shame?

How could they consider secession from Ghana to become a part of Ivory Coast as the best course action to take in lieu of Mahama Administration's failure to deliver the agreed upon 10% royalty to the people of the Western Region.
Secondly, do the chiefs know that in a civilized Society, rule of law reigns. Consequently, if there is a legally binding agreement between the Traditional rulers of Western Region and Mahama Government, the best course of action the Chiefs should take, is to sue the Government in court to seek enforcement of the agreement instead of the futile and unreasonable and misguided course of action the chiefs
are alleged to be considering.
