  What use is it to call a hostile witness just to come and tender documents to prove that the defendant had convinced them that he had a reasonable grounds to believe there is debt owed to him.There is no doubt that the then government had solicited the assistance of Woyome as an intermediary for capital investments for projects in the country and deserves payment for his efforts.
  
  The only question is whether the job done justifies the huge sum paid.The sc was under pressure from Amidu and public opinion to come to a hasty conclusion which defies the doctrine of equity and natural justice.To say there was no contract because the government of the day whose duty it was to undergo due process for that parliamentary oversight failed to do so,so the contract was invalid beggars believe.If vicarious liability and responsibility is anything to go by in our laws then the govern or state should cut their losses to save the nation further expenditure.

  I agree that there should be an independent prosecutor but that's not all. The 1992 constitution was written and designed for the appeasement, sole benefit and protection of a dictator who had just reluctantly agreed to a return to the democratic system of government. He was arm-twisted by both local and external forces into accepting the demand. What's even more perplexing, disquieting and perfidious is the retention of the portions of the fourth republican constitution which gave absolute power to President Rawlings 15 years and 3 presidents after completing his 2 term limit .
  The centralization of power allows the president to appoint almost every person of influence in Ghana. Appointments to the top spot of every state institution are under the thumb of one person, the president, and in a country where every job search is more tedious than searching for the needle in a haystack, the consolidation of the power of appointment to the juiciest positions in the hands of the president makes the president a de facto dictator. No state institution head is immune from the president's over-reach and influence. When District chief executives, etc, owe their appointments to the high office to just one man their loyalty is to that man only and don't feel accountable to the constituents they serve. That's a huge problem. It's time to chip some of the power away from the president. Until then state institutions will under-perform and corruption will continue to increase.

What were they going to say new, which would have made our case different?
