Whenever they loose elections both NPP and NDC refuse to face the real reasons for their defeat squarely. Everyone knows that NPP won in 2000 because JJ face and that of his wife had become too overbearing to most Ghanaians including moderate NDC supporters. We wanted a new face on our TV sets. John Kuffour came across as fresh and genuinely reassuring. His gentility compared favourably with that of the Asumdwehene, unfortunately Mills could not cut an independent view of himself and most people saw his candidacy as a continuation of JJ's term from behind. So 2000 came and went and JAK was given a second term in 2004, not because NPP did so well, but because the disaffection for JJ had not completely died down. Be that as it may, NPP's predicted problem came with their succession plan. Those who felt it was their turn, and those who felt they were the party's world bank and should continue. So you have a stalemate, if a die hard minority within a party is staking claims for the ultimate against the wishes of the majority, each side can subottage the other at election time if a compromise is not reached. The solution is to settle on an outsider from neither of these groups, in the case of NPP, say a Northerner as Presidential candidate. But are NPP ready for this? That is the million dollar question. The NDC were prevented from arriving at this same cross roads by the sudden death of Mills and the emergence of Mahama, very close to 2012. But their problems would arise in deciding a successor to Mahama either after 2016 or 2020.

When Kufour lost to Mr Rawlings did we say he didn't appeal to all Ghanaians?it's easy to say this because he had finished his term with the help of the same people he claims bring divisions to the party, when Atta Mills lost twice to Mr Kufour did that stop him becoming president?why did the voter region become a no go zone for npp observers including foreign observers as well?.Kufour should not think he won power because generality of Ghanaians loved him, we fought for it tooth and nail through kumepreko, siemepreko and many other demonstrations to get him elected after round 2.Even in international convention on election, no incumbent government gets 49.7% and lose elections but yet he allowed that.Dr Busia who gave Kufour early opportunity in politics was not an Asante, I can see clearly at my poor conner the kind of cards he and Kojo Npiani, Richard Anane, Allan Kerman teng, Ken Dapaah and other played against Nana, s victory.Fire burn you all.
