Member of Parliament for the La Dadekotopon Constituency, Hon. Nii Amasah Namoalo, claims he would have sued the government in court for more money if he were in the shoes of Alfred Agbesi Woyome.

The latter illegally received Ghc51 million from the State in 2010 for his role in the construction of stadia for the CAN 2008 tournament held in Ghana. And for this reason, the Supreme Court, on July 29, 2014, ordered him to refund the money to the state on the grounds that he got the money out of unconstitutional and invalid contracts between the state and Waterville Holdings Limited in 2006 for the construction of stadia for CAN 2008.

But speaking on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma, the MP for La Dadekotopon urged Mr. Woyome to go to court and sue the state for failing to present his contract to Parliament before the money was paid to him.

He accused the New Patriotic Party of masterminding this move when they were power and wondered why they failed to do the just thing by bringing the contract to parliament.

“If the NPP had brought the contract to parliament before the payment was made, the Supreme Court wouldn’t have directed Woyome to refund the money to the state…I wonder what influenced the NPP not to bring the contract to Parliament”, he said

Former President Jerry Rawlings claims 60 per cent of “thieves” in government now hold positions in the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The former president alleged that those people fought for party positions just to protect themselves from a possible prosecution for their evil deeds.

Mr. Rawlings who was reacting to the acquittal of business man Alfred Woyome stated that prosecution presented a poor case just to protect some people in government implicated in the case.

Citing the involvement of former Attorney General, Betty Mould-Iddrisu in the Woyomegate scandal as an example, Mr. Rawlings questioned why she was left off the hook.

"Woyome the thief is now a free man because some of our people who were involved in the thievery like Betty Mould and one other person were not produce in court for interrogation to provide vital information to jail him," he fumed.

“When 40% of the corrupt people have lost their positions to enable us clean the party, 60% have now come in to protect themselves and we also vote them. Are we so stupid” he quizzed.

An NDC front end clerk in a pharmacy has just been admonished by the NPP owner for missing too many sales. "I'm sorry" the NPP boss says "But one more missed sale and your fired"
The next customer that comes in has a terrible cough and asks the problem clerk for help. Unable to recall where the cough remedies are, the nervous clerk points to a box of Ex-Lax and says "Here, buy this then go over to our cooler and take all of it with plenty of water".

The customer thanks him and obliges. Finishing his last glass of water, the customer exits the pharmacy. Once outside he stops, takes a few faltering steps, then hugs a telephone pole. The boss, having witnessed the entire scene, approaches the clerk and asks him what he recommended.

"Ex-Lax," says the NDC clerk hesitantly.

Even late child support payments and income taxes attract interest and this should attract interest. The interest calculated is based on prime plus some basis points. In Ghana this could be anything north of 25%
