  Please you are ignorant associating that incidence with islam. That is primarily traditional. If a chief summons anyone in his jurisdiction you have to respond to the summon; no matter the reason. I don't know of Tamale but where I come from the chief can forcefully remove you from his jurisdiction for defying his authority. Traditionally can he flog the recalcitrant person? Absolutely yes! But where? I believe the flogging should have been done at the chief's palace. These days administrative authorities (Government) make us overlook this aspect. The disobedient person is forcefully brought to the chief's palace and flogged to serve as deterrent for others not to disrespect his authority. Imagine that the police ask you to report and you refuse; there is a procedure in place for discipline. Our chiefs deserve respect. The minimum this headteacher could do was to atleast go and explain to the chief the situation or decision of the PTA. I believe the headteacher has a part for the blame for being arrogant and disobedient!

  Obviously, you must be from the same forest from which this illiterate chief comes from. Flogging anyone for ignoring invitation has no place in any civilized society. Why did the chief not report the head teacher to the police if he thought he did anything wrong. Why did he not flog the police instead of abandoning the interrogation? He should be sent to jail for 10 years to serve as a deterrent to barbaric, illiterate and idiotic chiefs who would take the law into their own hands.

  Traditions are upheld very highly in where I come. The chief did everything right!. You come over to Tamale and disobey the summons of the chief you will face the same rigor! PERIOD!

Mejida you have no clue what you are talking about, it is your type that make some chiefs behave as if they are untouchable if what you are saying is true that a chief can publicly flog whosoever refuses his summons then your people are still living in the DARK ages and needs to get out of such barbaric culture. We are living in the 21st century not some stone age period.

  In as much I totally disagree and condemn the chief for his action/reaction, I also think that the Head Teacher should have honored the invitation to explain matters to the chief. Invitation is not necessarily asking or forcing you to reduce the levy agreed by the PTA. It is the same who will come to your aid in case of any problem. Lets learn to respect and obey to avoid these problem. Once again I condemn the behavior of the chief.
