Yes, it was wrong for the students not to attend assembly but this was common in every secondary school when I was in boarding schools in the 1970s. They should have been punished but not degraded and disgraced.

I think the headmistress is single and frustrated so she wanted to satisfy her curiosity by looking at almost naked young men. If she is married, perhaps her husband is denying her body's desires. She is a disgrace not fit to be headmistress.

If she is starved of sex, you think she would seek gratification in seeing teenage boys in boxer shorts. The woman was addressed as Mrs Charlotte Asante and you asked whether she was married? Let Cambridge has influence on your thinking. Your conclusion is highly erroneous. How could this single act alone, if true, make her unfit to become a headmistress? In the UK I read of an English girl who was sacked from school because she braided her her; she was inculcating foreign culture. Her parents appealed against the dismissal and it was upheld. The head of the school was not dismissed. Do you think governments do not make mistakes? Do you not make mistakes? If you abuse the rights of your children, then you should be made not their father again? If you drink drive and you are caught you should not drive again? If you have an accident as a driver, you should not be allowed to drive again?

First of all, Ghana is a secular state bot a christian nation as many christians would like it to be so there should be separation of religion and state. No student should be forced to worship in any school. These foreign religions must be confined to their churches and places of worship. Secondly, the abolition of corporal punishment must be strictly enforced in all schools by the Ministry of Education. Finally, school authorities must be professional in their administration and respect the rights of students. If my child is canned by a teacher, I'll sue in court.

I remember two tutors lashed some form five students for not being present at morning devotion. We did not hear of anything like human rights at that time. I wish they give the schools to those human rights advocates to run. That is the bane of our society today. I support the headmistress. She should continue to lash them. Sacking Abetifi SHS headmistress it self is a human right abuse.The Bible or the good old book says"lack of knowledge my people destroy"and at the same time the same book also said"spare the child a rod and you tolerate nonsense.It is a human rights abuse when you allow fools to remain foolishness to become vice in society to terrorize citizens.The same Bilble or Old Good Book also said "The rod straighten the fool to become wise and discipline and virtue in society.The headmistress deserve both commendation and standing ovation for discipline stupidity our those stubborn vagabond students to teach them what is right from wrong and i guess those whose all themselves humans right advocates to seek phychiatric mental evalution to see if they are normal and ratioal human beings.Will these folks allow their children to misbehave in school and not attend class and fail the exams what kind of parent are they?Those folks call themselves human right advocates are all fools and not wise people.Abetifi Presby SHS headmistress do it again we all supportyou bravo ,because you are turning fools and vice people in wise and virtue people.

Even i suggest the insider who sent the info must thoroughly be investigated n punished. The answer is very simple: discipline and respect for the rule of law and order.

Those human rights organizations: the question I have is how do they expect her to enforce discipline to students who violates school rules?

She should have summarily withdrawn them. Democracy does not mean we should produce undisciplined young people. Such a nation has no future. That country cripples under the nose of democracy. Democracy means rule of law and that the laws are blind to status quo of offenders. Democracy thrives best in disciplined society where the laws are well respected.

The Human Rights Advocacy Centre(HRAC) I think have lost their minds for them to ask for the dismissal of Madam Charlotte Asante as the Headmistress of Abetifi Presbyterian Senior High School for asking some male students to parade in their under wares before their mates. I think they have no better thing to do and that is why they are wasting their time on such flimsy and humane issue. After all, the punishment the Headmistress meted to the students for their failure to attend morning devotion was more humane than asking them to cut grass or go fetch water for the school cafeteria or some teachers. To be honest to HRAC, if I were in their shoes and was given such punishment, I would gladly and willingly parade before the school than to receive a severe and hash punishment such as sending me home for some period of days(suspension).
