Also, as long as we fear to let the law exact toll on law breakers, we are fighting a losing battle. We fear to punish people who are well educated and that is a very dangerous scenario.

If your party executive or members become rich all of sudden while you are in power then you and your party members will have to explain to us where those riches came from otherwise it's prosecution time. If they were involved in legitimate businesses which has no conflict of interest, then they have nothing to worry about.

believe this guy or not, thats the point. you guys should see how powerful the electorate is in the advanced world. politicians live on their salaries and they also are responsibble for maintaining all the basics needs of every person, rich or poor. yes not all men are rich here but abject poverty and deprivation of necessaries due to status is non existent. call an ambulance and if it doesnt arrive in less than five minutes and see how many public officials will be held accoutable. leave your garbage outside and if it doesnt get picked up on time, there you will see how many guys get punished. society here is moving with precession and accuracy. go over the speed limit and get caught and try bribing an officer and see what happens. law here works for the people and the people works with the law. you dont get elected today to be rewarded with an suv tmorrow, never. not in africa. it will take a social revolution to turn our country around, Lord knows when this will occur but its only when the masses realize that they are the ones that make up and own the society and that the resources belong to them mostly, is only when, maybe,things will turn around. the French had a similar thing going on till the masses rose up to get rid of the monarch and then resorted to govt of the people, by the people and for the people. why should we have a minor group of people amassing wealth while just basic human needs are not readily available for the majority? sick people are receiving iv's on hard floors and benches? and you call this democracy? no it isnt. this is the prevailing situation in almost all africa. the americans had a great depression just as early back as in the 1930's. this dumsor aint got nothing on the great depression. people were sleeping in open parks in new york and all banks had collapsed with almost every factory shut down. but it took good and loyal leadership for them to dig themselves out of that crappy situation. i think we need to educate more liberal minds to usher in such a revolt maybe in the next couple 100's if not 1000's of years to come. else this educated few will plague on this country for a long time.

Yes some of the initial flaws can be attributed to hoe the uneducated loaf the educated ones. And thsee educated ones took advantage of that and they have now anti it to be in their DNA. All the educated ones in Ghana are corrupt and stupid too. And it shows.
A typical example is this Professor only yesterday repeating the same gaffe Akuffo-Addo made giving a speech in Kumasi during the last campaign. He piognantly said Akans were coming to claim their country and this professor too said something similar to that yesterday. He said NPP was an Akan party and how can one say something Like that and expect to be voted into power. He couldve been a little refined or politically correct by saying NPP is the true all Ghanains party.
Corruption is not just only the politicians but all educated and we'll positioned citizens and the one way we can state reversing this trend is to have a strong leadership that can arrest and prosecute the bribe takers. In addition , jail them, fire and banish them from ever skiing a government job. Let the people understand that a government job is to serve and if you can't make on your salary then step aside and someone else will gladly fill your post. Creative ideas are made, they don't fall from heaven.

I am honestly surprised that the eminent Prof Adei has only found out that Ghanaian Politicians are unashamedly selfish, corrupt and inconsiderate for when it comes to serving the people who are stupid enough to vote for them. The whole Parliament of Ghana, we know is filled with crooks hoping to defraud the State and nothing else. The President, as head of State only cares for himself and his immediate close relatives, helping them to build the family business. Why do we allow ourselves to be taken for a ride by these imbeciles of society who call themselves POLITICIANS.

Your average Ghanaian enters politics as a pauper and leaves as a rich man. A person should go into politics to make a difference in the lives of those they represent and not enrich himself at their expense. So what is the long-term solution for the rampant corruption in politics? Will declaring one's assets upon entering politics curb corrupt practices? Politicians are not created in a vacuum, they come from the same society as most Ghanaians. That is to say that the average Ghanaian is corrupt and will not hesitate to engage in illegal schemes to enrich himself when placed in a position of authority. If a law is passed making corruption a crime punishable by life sentence, perhaps that may serve as a deterrent.
