  Bunso University set up by Okyehene (King of Akyem) is still under construction. Some private Universities are a disgrace to our educational system. This debate is very relevant.
  
  It has been said that many lecturers lack teaching methodologies. What should be the minimum requirement in recruiting lecturers into a tertiary institution? Is it a masters degree or a PhD with a course in education??
  
  Professors in tertiary institutions must read GES directives. There are many important and useful GES directives which would help them.
  
  GES banned all forms of corporal punishment in Educational institutions but there are reports that some tertiary institutions are still carrying out this practice. Asking students to kneel down and so on.
  
  Lecturers in tertiary institutions must recognize the fact that students in these institution are adults.

  I doubt very much if this can work. We should not foget that all these instituitions are funded largely for financial purpose with little attention to quality. This is evident by the way they admit students where they don't care too much about grades of their intakes. So the question is, will the owners abide by the terms and conditions of the government and run such instituitons in conformity with the laid down regulations? And what happens to the owners? I am not too sure but the stake holders can debate it. Honestly speaking, those private instituitions are nothing to write home as far as job prospects in the labour market is concerned.
