One cannot just begin to imagine the scope and breadth of nanotechnology in modern science and it is very gratifying to note that a Ghanaian is in someway deeply involved and driving the inventions and innovations which are influencing societies progress, a very far cry from that e dey bee k3k3 which has no meaning, no nothing anywhere and just does nothing for progress anywhere in terms of creating the environment for such inventions and research by keen, inquiring and structured minds.
Congrats Sir and UP SANTA, Ghanaians are proud of your achievements and you are an inspiration.

They did that to one guy who was going to establish an agro manufacturing factory with a white American manufacturer to boost agricultural production in Ghana. The American guy went to Ghana to seek approval from Atta Mills Government, and some Ewes occupying sensitive positions told the man the Government won't support it because his partner in business is an Asante.

His inventions have generated billions if not trillions to the economies of these nations. Africans institutions use fiber optics in every fabric of their lives:

1)Cars, phones, aircraft, etc

2)Medicine (surgical lasers, imaging instruments, etc)

3)Hydrophones used for siemic purposes (earthquakes, etc)

4)Internet, cameras, HDTV (High-Definition Televition), CATC (Cable Televisions),

5) Computers, networking, and data transmission

6) Sensors, transmission of light, etc

7) Communication (Local Area Networks, etc)

8) Commerce, industry, etc.

And more!

Besides, many secondary or teritiary inventions in Africa today, like Bright Simons' mPedigree for instance, directly benefits from fiber optics.

Fiber optics is saving lives in Africa and has added to the improvement of standard of life and quality of life. It has also ccreated jobs across Africa in a variety of industries!

As for electric power, his colleague Dr. Victor Lawrence, a Fellow and inductee of the National Academy of Inventors, is working on that in West Africa. Plans are already in place to lay cables (possibly with fiber optic technologies) across the West African region.

Dr. Lawrence's work in this regard once covered China, the Netherlands, and some US States. Nothwithstanding all the above, I agree with you on everything you have said.

The professor in USA has no fixed or constant research grant, he has to write a proposal to access the grant hence their motivation to excel.
