This former pauper now turned millionaire because of stealing from the coffers of Ghana is somebody that I know very well as struggling to find a square meal before becoming president of Ghana by virtue of CHANGE as Ghanaians wanted the other side of the economic coin.

Should thieves be allowed to comment on our economy? I really do not think so not alone a stealing one.

Instead of a bye-law to throw people who create filth in our streets in jail, these buffoons in government want a by-law that will compel every citizen to take part in National Sanitation Day. How will these fools implement such a bye-law. In many normal countries the world over, littering is an offence punishable by on the spot fines when one is caught. In most of these normal countries, the government has provided dustbins/garbage cans at every convenient corner of the streets so that those who litter would have no excuse for littering. But Ghana is not a normal country - it is backward and crude, and that is why you have a government that wants to pass a bye-law to catch not those who litter in our street, but rather those who fail to join National Sanitation day. What a bunch of fools and dunderheads.

Cleanliness/Sanitation must start in our classrooms and supported by our laws. To paraphrase the the famous Chinese proverb, teach the hungry and they will never go hungry again. Our elementary and High School curriculum must emphasize sanitation and cleanliness at home and on our streets. That is how you raise a clean generation, not passing mindless bye-laws. With this kind of stupidity, is then a wonder that our economy is in a mess? We need people with common sense to govern, not people with hollow minds.

If this shameless former president failed to utilized all the monies accrued from the "Poor Indebted Country Fund" he created for this dearest country of which he and his cohorts distributed it for themselves, bought hotels, and government lands and channeled them for useless things, Mahama will not go in for any IMF loan. Honestly, it not shame for a country to go in for a foreign loan. All the super powers in this world borrow money from external source.

If the intention of using the money will serve the people right, then there is use of it than pocketing the money like how he did during his tenure, then it is foolish.

Some of you comment as if you do not know what is going on in Ghana. When Kufuor assume the presidency, the national coffers were empty because JJ made sure to clean the national purse just to see what the incoming administration will do. It is a deliberate attempt to make Kufuor look bad in the eyes of Ghanaians and with no option, Kufuor went to the IMF.

What about Mahama? Was the national purse dry? Even with oil in addition to the numerous resources, this NDC government embarked on senseless spending spree. Mahama said that they will borrow just for borrowing sake. That is plain silly talk from a president. As an individual, will you use your credit card senselessly just because you have it or with commonsense?

Mills/Mahama met a sound economy but being stupid and insensitive, they mismanaged it hence, invitation of IMF. There is no need for the IMF to come in at this time and tell us to be prudent when it comes to "cost".

Is he really intelligent as you claim? the problem about our society is hypocrisy and sadly so. The fact is that K4 inherited a bad economy in his time and under the circumstances, he did what he had to do by declaring the country HIPC. I'm not against that decision at all because I believe strongly that no one in his right senses will like to have that tag slapped on his nation if there was a better alternative. However, the man made a regrettable mistake as regards to Ghana's share in the oil deal. I find it difficult to believe that he signed a deal which allows us as a nation to pocket just a paltry 10% until prez mills came to renegotiated Ghana's share to 13% which I still frowns on. Let anyone tell me which Western country will allow such a laughable deal on its citizenry? We are not a serious people thus celebrating such leaders makes a mockery of ourselves.

Kufuor saw the depth to which the country had sunk on assuming office. He did not cause the rot. It had accumulated from the onset of the PNDC/NDC 1 years.
Kufuor was a visionary leader, he did not fail the nation. Under his leadership, he grew the size of the economy four times over. He left an economy which was HIPC to middle income status at the time he left office.

Under the Mills administration, the statistical service updated the systems to fairly measure our GDP, which send our country
overnight into a higher category of development and we became a lower middle income country.

The immediate and eminent result was that most of our budget support, which you enjoyed, was cancelled by supporting countries.

"Kufuor won the presidential election of December 2000; in the first round, held on 7 December, Kufuor came in first place with 48.4%, while John Atta-Mills, Jerry Rawlings' Vice President, came in second with 44.8%, forcing the two into a run-off vote. In the second round, held on 28 December, Kufuor was victorious, taking 56.9% of the vote. When Kufuor was sworn in on 7 January 2001, it marked the first time in Ghana's history that an incumbent government had peacefully surrendered power to the opposition.

Kufuor was re-elected in presidential and parliamentary elections held on 7 December 2004, earning 52.45% of the popular vote in the first round and thus avoiding a run-off, while at the same time Kufuor's party, the New Patriotic Party, was able to secure more seats in the Parliament of Ghana.

His administration's domestic policy in the first term was marked by fiscal and monetary stringency on the economic front, aimed at stabilizing a national economy that had stagnated and was in decline. His social vision was focused on unleashing the entrepreneurial, creative and innovative potential of Ghanaians as a means of creating wealth and hence dealing with the social challenges facing them. This socio-economic vision was encapsulated in the Five Priority Areas Programme, viz., the pursuit of good governance, modernization of agriculture for rural development, private sector participation, enhanced social services and vigorous infrastructure development. His administration is said to have received the most financial assistance of any in the history of Ghana, due essentially to donors' distrust for the military governments before it, as well as those with some military connections.

President Kufuor's foreign policy was underpinned by what he termed "economic diplomacy." It is within this context that in Africa in general and in West Africa in particular, a good neighbor policy has been pursued, which has seen Ghana under President Kufuor brokering peace in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Cote d'lvoire and Guinea-Bissau among other African states. On the global stage, President Kufuor has actively sought the establishment of a just and equitable international social and economic order, while promoting and safeguarding the interests of Ghana through bilateral and multilateral agreements. His stature as statesman, democrat and credible spokesman for Africa has found expression in his invitation to major international meetings and conferences including the founding summit of the AU, G8 Summits in Sea Island, Georgia and Glenneagles, Scotland and the World Economic Forum, among others.

He served as Chairman of the regional grouping ECOWAS for two consecutive terms – 2003 and 2004. In 2007, Due to the policy successes his administration chalked up, President Kufuor had his mandate renewed in 2004 and was sworn into office on 7 January 2005. Policy direction in President Kufuor's second term has built on the foundations laid in the first four years. The administration is pursuing Ghana's socio-economic transformation in the second term using the three-pronged approach of private sector development, human resource development and good governance. At the international level, President Kufuor is consolidating Ghana's position as the voice of Africa, credible peace broker, beacon of democracy (Ghana is the first country to undergo Peer Review under NEPAD's Africa Peer Review Mechanism) and responsible member of the comity of nations.

On 29 January 2007, Kufuor was elected as the Chairperson of the African Union for the 2007–2008 AU session. He was succeeded by Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania on 31 January 2008. Kufuor was involved in a car crash during his presidency on 14 November 2007, in which another car collided with his and caused it to roll over several times. Kufuor was reported to be uninjured.

Finally, President Kufuor's good governance policy has led to Ghana obtaining a record $500 million grant from the U.S Millennium Challenge Account for economic development. Social vision was anchored on unleashing the entrepreneurial, creative and innovative potential of Ghanaians as a means of creating wealth and hence dealing with the social challenges facing Ghanaians.

This socio-economic vision was encapsulated in the Five Priority Areas Programme vis the pursuit of good governance, modernization of agriculture for rural development, private sector participation, enhanced social services and vigorous infrastructural development.

The country and it's citizenry will pay the price for such conduct and delivery, and with a party and gov't chockfull with thieves according to the very Founder of that party, Ghana is in for a very, very rough ride until Ghanaians put the brakes on the slide into retrogression and absolute stagnation by massively firing this Mahama-led NDC gov't at the ballot box in 2016. Economies are like businesses. They have cycles of downturns and upturns (or periods of economic growth). So what Ghana is going through is normal. What the downturns do for an economy is that, it is during such periods that leaders undertake new strategies to boost the economy for the long term.

As we can all see there is a lot being done by the Mahama Government during this period. When the dust settles down, they would have charted a new economic growth and development course for the country for the next 10 to 20 years and we will all be jubilating and forget about these hardships including of course, "Dumsor". As a result of Dumsor, do you all see the various deals being signed in order to improve electricity in the country. Without such downtowns in economies, we tend to rest on our laurels as a nation and not do much.

We will become more competitive as a nation as a result of the Dumsor in the not too distant future.

As the saying goes, in every difficult situation, there are always also great opportunities and the Mahama Government is grabbing these opportunities for the betterment of Ghanaians in the future.

Out of the Dumsor challenge, we will reap the benefit of becoming an exporter of electricity and thereby enhance economic growth. We will soon come to agree with my observations so have patience as pray for the Government and the leadership to get the wisdom to do the right things for the country. Instead of complaining and insulting the Government, we should rather pray for them for God to guide them in all they do and we to see miracles at work in our economy. Once we solve the Dumsor challenge, we must put in place a system of planning that will ensure the sustainability of electricity supply in the country from generation to generation. This is the source of the Dumsor problem, it is not Mahama's fault. Lack of planning after Kwame Nkrumah's Akosombo dam but successive Governments has culminated to the present day Dumsor.
