  When Susie didn't stir, little Johnny who was her friend sitting behind her, took his pencil and jabbed her in the rear.
  
  
  'God Almighty!' shouted Susie.
  
  
  The Nun said, 'Very good' and continued teaching her class..
  
  
  A little later the Nun asked Susie, 'Who is our Lord and Savior?'
  
  
  But Susie didn't stir from her slumber.
  
  
  Once again, Johnny came to her rescue and stuck her in the butt.
  
  
  'Jesus Christ!!!' shouted Susie.
  
  
  And the Nun once again said, 'Very good,' and Susie fell back asleep.
  
  
  The Nun asked her a third question...'What did Eve say to Adam after she had her twenty-third child?'
  
  
  Again, Johnny came to the rescue. This time Susie jumped up and shouted,'If you stick that thing in me one more time, I'll break it in half!'
  
  
  The nun fainted.

  This was not manifested in the 2015 budget statement until concerns citizens raised this concern as significant in a child development. The department of Education in Ghana only focuses on JSS and SHS. Therefore children from poorer families with no income misses out on education. They never gets a head start. When one tries to highlight this to the Minister of Education she refuses to engage in a discussions claiming she is busy etc. The educational needs of Vulnerable in this category are not touched or looked at to be able to see the strategic picture of the gap in our educational system. The Govt does not see the impact lack of nursery education is having on the vulnerable children in Ghana. This is why it is not in the Budget statement of 2015. Unless this area is tackled head on our future generations would always suffer and be less confident to face this competitve world of commerce.

  NDC like taking credit that is not due them. Thew minister is lying to the world about NDC education policies which are not reflected in teachers pay and condition of service.

  If that percentage of GDP goes into education why is the state of secondary education for one not improving.
  
  These liars are shameless and think that just that they can fool some tribal-voters in Ghana they can fool all rational human beings.

  I think that the NDC as a party is not doing enough to tell Ghanaians and the world what this government is doing.They are rather figthing for position.If it's not for this report, Ghanaians would not know what is actually happening at the educational sector. It is about time the Government communicators wake up from their slumbers and go out and tell the world what the government is doing. Well done Mr president.

  The minister should have chipped in and credited the University of Education, Winneba (UEW)for the introduction of the Early Childhood Education program. This course is very rare in most African countries. The four-year program at UEW has immensely contributed to the success of pre-school education and has given hope to quality foundation in education Ghana would forever benefit from, years to come.
  My research shows the authorities of the University did an excellent curriculum job in the introduction of the program and had an unflinching support from the Ministry of Education. One Mr. Agbeker I'm told he was very instrumental in the creation and implementing of the program to churn out quality and professional teachers to sustain it. Hopefully, all public schools would eventually have preschool attached to them with the teachers. Good job!

  Most pre-primary education are offered by private schools who do not have teachers having UEW certs. UEW products handle government schools which are the last choice of most parents - especially, teachers.

  Usman, you probably are confused or not informed properly about educational policies and acceptable curricula. Currently, no one is disputing the fact that some handlers of preschools in Ghana are not UEW products. How many of these handlers are professionals in the early childhood education field? But don't forget products of UEW are also teaching if not full time, on part-time basis in these same private schools as the public pre-primary schools are very few in Ghana and not all public schools have pre-school level.
  International organizations deals with governments on policy documents and data available to them not on pictorial or guess work. How many public schools have preschools in Ghana today? The argument is, the organizations have seen the structures put in place and are commending the country on that. UEW is the institution that is currently full fledged training teachers to meet these projections. Eventually, all public schools would have preschools in the country and tell me which teachers would man them, is it the private handlers?
  Please do not bring partisanship in this by mentioning Kuffour. Before Kuffour and dating back in the 80s there been series of educational reforms; immediate and long term ones, so Kuffour is just a passer by. I would have applauded you if you limited it to the ministry of education as they never change with governments. What about the FCUBE if we want to be partisan? I believe if you were in the know about trends in Ghana's education right from pre-colonial, colonial and during the missionaries to date, you would have understood my brief credit given to UEW. The private handlers, yes need some commendation too.

  UCC of today is not like UCC in the olden day. UCC of today has lost focus in providing quality and professional teachers. The objective of UCC is train teachers to teacher our secondary schools in the olden days. those of us who were lucky to be taught by the teachers during that time, benefited more. Now UCC has introduced more disciplines which are not relevant to classroom. UEW a daughter of UCC was established gy the late Dr.K.Nkrumah as his institute of ideology to train future politicians. Due to political issues, it turned to specialist for teachers, later affiliated to UCC to offer diploma in all all subjects related to the classroom. 2004 UEW became autonomous and the leading university in distance basic education. Its products are excelling in the teaching profession both national and international levels. LONG LIVE UEW, LONG LIVE GHANA AND AFRICA.

It is always amazen to see pupil in KG being able to read and do some arithmeitics and basic algebra. Thanks to Kufuor for all these. It is unfortunate that this useless professor did not acknowledge the work of past leaders in this direction. This is how mischievous academicians could be. No wonder Ghana is currently in a mess.
