I was hoping to find some up to date information on this topic but I am not sure if this is a credible source. also if you may know of any accurate sources I can search that would be appreciated.

  This assessment was true decades ago and, sadly, it's true today. It's a reflection of failure of govt, useless intellectualism, our values as a society & a craving for imported materialism

  - Small Scale Farmers Are Ghana's Agriculture Backbone!
  
  Nothing new there!
  
  But the continued "high post harvest losses" and lack of facilities to process the staples are significant bottlenecks. To the extent those deficiencies contribute to the poverty of the small scale farmer, the government has a major responsibility to provide requisite facilities - physical, financial, operational, etc.
