To make matters worse, this torturous procedure is done without anesthetic or clean tools & can cause infections & even death. FGM is a wicked & selfish act & Ghana need to take a clear & bold actions to end it. Where's the parent of this poor girl? How can you stomach your child undergoing such inhuman treatment & how can this heartless queen mother banish a child to go and fend for herself? If it is barbaric and inhumane for one it must be for the other.I asked a Doctor in Wisconsin about this and she defined it as the removal of the foreskin on the clitoris.She said effects of female circumcision is akin to that of a male.It doesn't prevent remove the sensation.I was interested because my wife(not a Ghanaian)was circumcised as a child and I couldn't tell the difference until she told me.If you asked me it is an outdated and painful custom based on false believes.Both male and female circumcision must be stopped not because it takes away the sensation from the genitals but because it is an unnecessarily painful custom based on false believes.
