It is a symptom of leadership crisis. Obviously, the lack of opportunities that has arisen as a result of a corrupt and visionless leadership and an economy that is facing significant hiccups has occasioned the situation where foreigners are now suffering the brunt of such unfortunate and misguided attacks.
South Africans should know it is not foreigners who are taking their jobs but rather their leaders who have failed to deliver on their core mandate of growing and expanding their economy which creates opportunities for all.
Leadership is the problem and not foreigners.
Jacob Zuma is much more concerned with marrying more wives than addressing the economy and appropriating funds for his personal aggrandizement.
The Mahama-led NDC gov't is another classic example of failed leadership and it is very clear from what is happening in the country that, Ghana would embrace change at the ballot box in 2016.
Change is coming at the ballot box in 2016, because Ghanaians and Africans in general have had enough of the kleptocracy of leadership, which is banishing the youthful teeming population to a life of squalor, desperation and deprivation in the midst of so much resources.
Foreigners are not the problem but leadership and South Africans should direct their anger to the appropriate quarters.

With all its wealth, it is a crime that South Africa under 20 years of ANC rule cannot provide for its Apartheid-impverished, majority black population. The ANC thieves just selfishly negotiated an end to Apartheid rule that enabled only prosperity for they alone and their Apartheid ex-bosses. Mutabaruka, the Jamaican reggae-poet-philosopher warned about this in his 1996 CD "Melanin Man". He called the shameful post-apartheid arrangement "Apartheid with an African face!"

Two generations of South African black youth have grown up without hope of education, jobs or basic services. And there has been no black consciousness education of the youth so that they are proud of themselves as Africans and proud of the entire African continent. Instead the only consciousness they are being raised up on is utmost selfishness, each man for himself, greed and looting as much as one can as practiced by he corrupt elites of the ANC, just as is practised by the corrupt elites of NDC and NPP whenever they are in power.

Ghana made a grave mistake by implementing the Aliens Compliance in 1969 under the Progress Party led by Dr.Busia.Nigeria followed with a retaliation later.The cost to Ghana,according to one of my secondary school teachers was the reduction in cocoa production which gave the upper hand to the Ivory Coast.We used to be first in cocoa production.We have not redeemed our lost glory ever since.
Those misinformed South Africans should understand that the only reason South African companies employ foreigners is affordability.It may be the reason some of the businesses are still in existence.So chasing away migrant workers will not automatically give one a job.Some jobs will not survive the absence of cheap labor.Since the unskilled immigrants do jobs detested by the host,those jobs will be deprived of workers.
