The large section of our 1992 constitution should be rewritten immediately as it's lacks basic common sense and has given the president so many powers on almost everything which is quite dangerous to our young democracy going forward.The work load of a Ghana President is too much,he has enormous powers and he/she appoints almost everyone from miniisters,deputy Ministers to all Board of Dirrectors of every public institution. If you have a brilliant and hardworking president,no one would complain but a below average president will easily espose this via a mediocre output such as dumsor which is now threathening the livelihood and the lives of millions of Ghanaians,.The EC Boss must be an independent person but as the constitution stands now,its not possible to have an independent person because he will be appointed by one party and the president can choose to ignore everybody including his errand boys (Council of State) and no one can do anything.He can chose to appoint Asiedu Nketsia as EC Boss and no one can do anything and any court action against it would fail.These council of state members are now appointed by the president so there is no way they will be able to criticise the president where necessary on his bad policies without fear of losing his position.Any wise person will keep his or her mouth shut to keep his daily bread.These council of state members should have been appointed by independent bodies such as the christian council,Ghana Bar Association,The Various Muslim Councils,The Students Association,Trades Unoins etc.This is the reason I say that those that wrote the constitution did a silly & mediocre job on large sections of our 1992 constitution that lacks basic common sense.There is an urgent need to rewrite these large aspects of the constitution stripping the presidents on his powers to appoints council of state members,Judges,Council of State members,EC boss,board of directors of state bodies etc and this powers should be given to bodies such as the Ghana Bar Association,The National house of chiefs,The various Trades unions,The Christian Council,The muslim council etc.The constituton powers must be given to these bodies to appoint council of state members by open applications within their various association with broad public consultation.Anyone with a political affiliations cannot apply to be a council of state member.The constitution must also empower these council of state members to criticise the president on his bad policies where necessary.These independent council of state members must then appoint the independent EC boss etc

This is what I actually want to say.Article 70 (2) of the 1992 constitution states that “the President shall, acting on the advice of his errand boys {Council of State[, appoint the Chairman, Deputy Chairmen and other members of the Electoral Commission”, Those who wrote the constitution were sick and very stupid because how effectively can this council of state appointed by the president himself be bold to advise the president without fear or favour to appoint someone competent,neutral and well versed with electoral laws with no affliction to any political party to be a EC boss, The chances of this happening is zero, The council of state members should have been appointed by independent bodies such as Ghana Bar Association,Christian Council,Muslim Council,National house of chiefs, etc ,StUdent Association,Trade Union etc to serve Ghana These independent bodies should have elected members to the council of state who should have in turn select the EC Boss after a very wide consultation and opening an application process.
As the constitution stands now,Mahama would be very stupid not to appoint anyone who would help him rig the elections.
This aspect of the constitution needs to be rewritten as soon as possible.The constitution must also force EC boss listen and implement advice and recommendations that comes up after inter party advisory meetings.Until this is done,Elections in Ghana would be far from being fair and credible

I think you must throw your cassock away and become an aspirant to the NPP's PARLIAMENTARY primaries in Obuasi. If I may ask, was it not Obuasi Methodist church that the church president and some Usshers stole the church's harvest money sometime back? Was the church president of Methodist church and his ushers God-fearing of Devil supporters that sat in the church every Sunday? Bishop Ayesu and the like should remove their cassocks and campaign for Akuffo Addo and his NPP. Was Afari Djan God fearing during the 2000 and 2004 elections that he supervised? Wolves in sheeps' clothing must give us a break. No wonder Jesus spoke about the in Matthew of the true colours of some church leaders. Never have we heared Catholic and Anglican priests being politically biased than the two Ghanaian owned churches (Methodist and Presby). My advise to him is that he should think of how to settle the methodist university debt and how those huge assessment he has levied on the poor people of the Obuasi Diocese of the methodist church is going to be paid. What exactly does Rt. Rev. Bosomtwi-Ayensu think a God-Fearing EC chairman would do? Why have all the so-called men of God not saved Ghana from tribal zealotry, nepotism, hypocrisy and outright stupidity? What can a God-Fearing EC chairperson do where all you church elders have failed? Where were you, Rt. Rev. Bosomtwi-Ayensu, when Rawlings was busy seizing CPP assets which later became property of his wife via some women's organization? And where were you when Kufour increased the number of sitting justices on the Ghana Supreme Court from 9 to 12 so he could add party faithful to imprison Tsatsu Tsikata where he could not otherwise do? Where were you, Rt. Rev. Bosomtwi-Ayensu, when Kufour enabled the son to acquire US$ million + hotel or sell through the Electricity Corp of Ghana China made meters?

It is truly shameful that each one of those who chastise the sitting president mostly hail from the Ashanti or Eastern regions of Ghana. If does not take the blind but the fool and unprincipled in Ghana not to see the bias brought to bear on the president by closet NPP clergy.
