Do you really understand what is meant by technical ability in sports? When you're down and out is time to sample true friends from hangers on. I think you belong to the latter group. There's no question about the technical ability of Essien and Muntari. Essien his nickname "The Bison" because of his great strength and technical excellence. The truth is he has never recovered one hundred per cent from the career threatening injury he sustained while playing for the BS. Why would any Ghanaian want to sacrifice his profession for his nation if he knows they will throw him under the bus in his adversity moment?Ghanaians should recognize the sacrifices Essien and Muntari have made to put Ghana on the world football map and the least we can do is jump into the fray of those who delight in tearing them down. What has made Essien's situation worse is how fast age is catching up with him. He's just entered the twilight of his brilliant career and he's not going to get any better. The Bison is already on the downward slide and the pace of the race to the bottom will depend on how well he handles the psychological trauma arising out of the fallout with corrupt Ghana officials at the world cup and the appreciation or disdain his fellow citizens will show. Now it's taking big a toll on his football career.
Muntari is much in the same boat. They're both suffering from post world cup psychological trauma and what they don't need right now is the condemnation of their Ghanaian brothers and sisters. They may not have conducted themselves within the best professional standards but we must also recognize the misconduct of the accompanying officials whose only reason and motivation of serving the nation in their various capacities was all about the money. They monetize every tournament even if it amounts to trampling on the players benefits and rights. We have to make the distinction between these evil officials who were at the WC to represent their selfish financial interests and the footballers who were representing their nation and their professional interests.
It's not the best of times for these sons of the land who have excelled at the highest level of their profession and I'm not going to be the one to draw the curtain on their successful careers as professional athletes. I don't care what Diego Lopez says but care much about what ungrateful Ghanaians are saying to throw them under the bus. They've paid their dues and deserve our respect.
