Retaliatory measures are no the best in Foreign relations and Diplomacy. So let NPP tone down on their rhetorics and be guaided by History. At least President Mahama has shown a modicum of decency by not jumping on the moment to score cheap political points. Afterall, there are more Ghanaians living in South Africa than Soth Africans living in Ghana. Trigger happy diplomacy has never yielded positive results.NPP ought to learn from their past mistakes.

When xenophobia happened in South Africa in 2008, the Kuffour-led government did very little to help us. The Ghana High Commission in Pretoria could not even have file for those that reported there for assistance.
Xenophobia has happened again in 2015 and Mahama-led government is not different.
Ghana governments over the years have been known not to show much interest when Ghanaians face xenophobic attacks and killings in the hands of people and governments outside of Ghana.
In 1980/1 when some Ghanaians were killed in police cells in the Ivory Coast, the Liman government did not react until students from UCC and UG took to the streets, burnt down the Ivory Coast Embassy in Cantonments. I was of the UCC students who hijacked UCC buses for the trip and event.
The only time in history a Ghanaian leader responded swiftly and effective to xenophobic attacks on Ghanaians was in 1983 by JJ in "Ghana Must Go" which happened in Nigeria.
My word of caution to every Ghanaian living outside Ghana and especially those in South Africa is: BECAREFUL HOW YOU LIVE IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY! DON'T EXPECT MUCH FROM YOUR GOVERNMENT BACK HOME IN GHANA. WHEN YOU ARE IN TROUBLE WITH XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS, DON'T RUN TO THE GHANA HIGH COMMISSION -WHETHER IT IS NDC OR NPP. FOR, A “LALASULALA GOVERNMENT” WITH A BEGGING BASKET IN HAND SEEKING LOANS AND GRANTS FROM EVEN THE LEAST EXPECTED SOURCES IS NEVER BOLD TO DEFEND ITS CITIZENS WHEN BEATEN AND KILLED BY MONEY LENDERS AND INVESTORS. We bear witness in Ghana of NPP history that is replete with acts of violence, bomb throwing capacity and of late agitation from the "all-die-be-die" repose. But seriously what would NPP do to South Africa? And since when are governments responsible for infrequent acts of terror and or criminality? Why did the savior former President Kufour of the NPP not ensure every Ghanaian had a job (Ghana had a zero unemployment standing) so Ghanaians would not go to other nations for jobs or die trying to escape the misery NPP gave Ghana with their collaboration on the 1966 coup?

NDC is an insensitive government and they have no plans about the the ongoing problems in South Africa as far as Ghanaians there are concerned. While countries like Zimababwe, Namibia, Nigeria and others are trying to evacuate their citizens, Hanna Tettey says they cannot describe their plans in public. What is secret about the plans? NDC is a useless government but time will tell.

If Agyapong and the NPP are not serial liars, what actions did their NPP take to protect lives of Ghanaians when the NPP was in office while Ghanaians were being slaughtered in the Gambia?
