I totally agree that this loan is the worst of loans from the IMF and I would return it if I was in charge.
There are innovative ways Ghana can raise this patent amount as some one said is the amount paid to footballers in Europe. First let us deal with corruption and restore confidence in Ghanaians.
Why don't we mobilize Ghanaians in the diaspora who can raise much more to help than the IMF has give.
We could for instance register goodwill Ghanaians abroad provided persuasive policies to curb corruption are in place.
Most Ghanaians are willing to help their country, I can assure you but they are always worried about how the amount would be dissipated.
We could register willing Ghanaian abroad in their million at a small fee or around 50 - 100 dollars, and give them the opportunity to participate in the democratic process at home.
We can also set up project, infrastructure, energy and ask philanthropist Ghanaians abroad to contribute and I am sure we are not going to be short of takers.
The IMF will not give money to Ghana for free, and sadly corrupt politicians and officials will abuse these funds which will pile up to our indebtedness. Please let us be smart, prudent, innovative and above all eschew corruption and there would be no need for our future generation to troop to South Africa to suffer the cruel xenophobia. Ghana should be better than what we have now with the right and dedicated law makers

Ghanaians are irresponsible people, yet they make the greatest demands on society at large.

75% of our citizens do not pay any taxes or adequate taxes, yet they generate the most income without overheads, any real investments; Street Hawking, Home cooked meals sold along the filthy gutters. Several market place squatters. Home owners who do not pay taxes or figure out ways to evade taxes. Taxi and tro tro businesses, always looking for the easy way out.

Such ignorant men with social status make the most noise. He never once offered a practical way for this government to generate needed revenue to support our dysfunctional ministries.

The sad truth about our so-called intellectuals is that they lack practical solutions to all our problems. Matter of fact when we allow them to control any government entity, they turn out to be the worst perpetrators. NPP screwed us, now NDC is tightening the screw.

They go for all these loans and half of the money goes into their pocket but the loans are taken in the name of the country so everyone has a stake in it. If our country had been well developed and our economy has been properly managed our people wouldn't have been killed in S. A.
African leaders building hotels in Dubai creating jobs for the people over there whiles our people are uneployed. This is senseless greed. How stupid could you be.
All the loans that has been contracted hasn't better the lives of the people that tells that this politicians are milking the people dry.

Mahama came to power,the out-going party NPP led by Kufuor and his ministers including Nana Akufo Addo left the country'roads fly-overs and streets in the cites dusty filthy as well as Accra-Kumasi road dusty and unfriendly environmental hazard. These dusty roads,fly-overs,cities streets as well as Accra-Kumasi are all now tarred and completed.Kufour and NPP sold off our Ghana Airways which operated for more than fivety years as well as selling of Ghana Telecommunications. If there is an opportunity to get some funds to build our country,we are debating whether we go for it or not. Meanwhile those against the bailout have not suggested any alternative. If the President were wise, he would have suggested to his Ministers and party functionaries to sacrifice by taking a 50% cut in salary and urging all who have amassed to themselves ill-gotten money from the government to return them.If this is seen by the entire Ghanaian populace, it will generate a sense of patriotism in them that would spur them onto contribute towards the shoring up of the Cedi. After all, isn't Ghana's population 30 million? If 10 million of us gave $90.00 how much does that translate into? Please Mr. President

It is a truth solemly acknowledge that a thief always create other thieves. Rawlings stole the presidency with arms and later undress his military uniform and laid down his accoutrements. He become a politician. He stole everything and crashed our economy. His party the NDC created Mahama. A civilian but a thief. He killed President Mills and robbed the presidency in what he termed his first coup. He enriched himself and protected many financial scandals that erupted with himself at the center. He has refused to declare his assets and took to spending spree until sending Ghana to a crash. With no choice , he had to seek IMF bailout without consulting the people of Ghana by referendum. And so NDC's history goes on , never ending, creating the worst hardships on our beloved country. Why should we wait until this evils, carry us back in chains in economic bondage. Just to satisfy their egoist financial caprices. Ghana have better politicians, intellectuals with good technocrats, so why waiste our development on these scouts sinners , MADE IN WRATHS ?

Perhaps, reading critical reviews of IMF and the World Bank will help you to understand why IMF loan or bailout is bad for Ghana. It might interest you to note that the new Greek government is fighting tooth and nail to save its citizens from the poisoned chalice of IMF, European Development Bank and the western financial oligarchs who have no interest in the welfare of the poor but their "pound of flesh". Mr-Adu-Asare, for your information, countries enjoying dramatic economic boom are those that spent few years in IMF programmes - a typical country is China. It's unthinkable to continue to dance with IMF and World Bank when wise countries (BRICS=Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) are running away from the poisoned chalice of these global financial bodies to set up their own development banks - The New Development Bank and the China-led Asian Infrastructural Investment Bank (AIIB). What does it tell you when even Britain, France, Italy and Germany - staunch USA allies - defy USA to join the China-led Asian Infrastructural Development Bank (AIIB), rival to IMF and the World Bank? It is only the brains of people like Dr. Onsy Nkrumah that can save Ghana from self-inflicted catastrophe.
