Comment to: IMF: Ghana faces risk of failing to pay debts on t
DEAR HON. MANAGING DIRECTOR OF IMF,
IT HAS BECOME VERY NECESSARY FOR ME TO RESPECTFULLY COMMENT ON THE ABOVE RELATED PUBLICATION DEVOID OF ANY PARTISAN CONSIDERATIONS, CAPTIONED:" IMF: GHANA MAY FAIL TO PAY DEBTS ON TIME".
THAT IT IS SIMPLE REASONABLE ECONOMIC PRINCIPLE OF "INVESTOR CONFIDENCE" THAT I RESPECTFULLY AND HUMBLY DARE TO COMMENT OF THE ABOVE RELATED DICEY MATTER.
THAT I AM AWARE THAT THE AWARDS DONATIONS MADE TO ME BY THE IMF, WORLD BANK, UNITED NATIONS AND OTHERS STILL HAVE NOT BEEN PAID TO ME.
HOWEVER, IT IS MY FIRM BELIEVED THAT THE IMF, WORLD BANK, UNITED NATIONS AND OTHERS WHO ARE VERY REPUTABLE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND GOVERNMENTS WILL HONOUR (HONOR) THE DONATIONS AND WILL PAY THE DONATIONS AMOUNTS/MONEYS.
IN THIS IN THE LIGHT OF ABOVE THAT I AM RESPECTFULLY URGING THE IMF AS THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION ASSISTING GHANA TO CREATE A POSITIVE ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT AND TO PROJECT SAME TO THE WORLD TO HELP ATTRACT GENUINE AND GOODWILL INVESTORS TO GHANA AND TO INVEST IN GHANA.
THAT ALREADY THERE ARE TWO (2) SCHOOLS OF THOUGHTS ABOUT THE IMF AND WORLD BANK ASSISTANCE IN GHANA AND AFRICA AS A WHOLE.
THAT I WILL LIKE TO BE ON RECORD THAT I AM AMONG THOSE WHO BELIEVED THAT IMF AND WORLD BANK CAN ASSISTANCE TO GHANA AND AFRICA CAN LEAD TO ECONOMIC PROSPERITY AND WELL-BEINGS OF THE PEOPLE. THAT IF NOTHING AT ALL, IT WILL HELP TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMIC FOR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT, THERETO.
THAT ON THE CONTRARY, THE OTHER SCHOOL OF THOUGHT ABOUT THE IMF AND THE WORLD BANK ARE THAT THE IMF AND THE WORLD BANK CANNOT SUCCESSFULLY ASSIST GHANA AND AFRICA FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT AND THAT GHANA AND AFRICA TO DISREGARD THE IMF AND THE WORLD BANK.
THEREFORE, TAKING COGNIZANCE OF THE ABOVE RELATED PUBLICATION SEEM TO RATHER SUPPORT THE ARGUMENTS BY THOSE AGAINST GHANA AND AFRICA SEEKING IMF AND WORLD BANK "BAIL OUT".
IT IS IN THE LIGHT OF ABOVE THAT I AM RESPECTFULLY AND HUMBLY URGING THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF IMF AND PRESIDENT OF WORLD BANK JIM YONG KIM TO CONSIDER IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF IMF, WORLD BANK, GHANA AND AFRICA TO RETRACT THE ABOVE RELATED STORY AND TO RE-ISSUE A POSITIVE STATEMENT THAT WILL BOOST "INVESTORS CONFIDENCE" IN GHANA AND AFRICA TO HELP IN THE INVESTMENTS DRIVE THAT WILL ALSO HELP GHANA AND AFRICA ECONOMY TO BOOM AND TO PROSPER FOR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT.
RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED.
VERY TRULY YOURS,
BENONY TONY AMEKUDZI, ESQ.

Xenophobic attacks have to be condemned. But have you forgotten that Ghana, under Busia drove away Nigerians, who had lived there for more than 100 years, blaming them for destroying the economy?Didn`t Nigerians years later retaliate by sending Ghanaians home?We have had this shameful situation also in West Africa.

"Dr" Acquah, I will advise you to go and do some research at the Balm Library @ UG. to get your self acquainted with Dr Busia's Aliens Compliance Order. It's a pity that some people out of mischief or total ignorance have over the years tried to misinterprete Dr Busia's action. I don't expect someone who calls himself a 'Dr' to exhibit such depressing ignorance- 'Dr' Acquah!
Just to educate you a little- Dr Busia of blessed memory issued the order for illegal IMMIGRANTS- NOT NIGERIANS alone (and there were many illegal immigrants @ that period), to regularise their papers if the wanted to live and work in the country. They were given ample time to do this exercise. Those who took it serious got their papers right and were allowed to live in Ghana. It's those who did not comply with the directives after the grace period had expired, who were ordered to leave the country. So where did Dr Busia go wrong? Is it a sin for the Head of State to bring some sanity into his nation? Right now we have a lot of illegal immigrants (undocumented) in Ghana most of them are Nigerians. If you think this is not dangerous for the country, then 'Dr' Acquah, come again. If the authorities in South Africa had worked on their immigration issues properly, we would not have witness these xenophobic attacks. It's the responsibility of every government to protect her people by making sure that foreigners who live in the country have valid papers which are documented. You can't blame Dr Busia for trying to protect Ghanaians! IGNORANCE IS A TERIBLE DISEASE- 'Dr' Acquah!

Hold your guns. As a matter of fact these actions of governments are often attempts at addressing serious economic crises unfolding. The minority is the first to bare the brunt of problems governments cannot solve and they do this drawing the attention of the majority to the presence of the minority. After the aliens compliance order Ghana continued down the road of economic decline. When Nigeria 'retaliated' they eventually got Sani Abacha and the rest. Cote d'ivoire's ivoretee led to civil war. Azania must watch out and fix their problems before they join the tragic history of the rest of the continent.

Sandy you are right more than right. Busia started it all, a phd in whatever field, he failed to educate himself that at the Berlin conference where Africa was carved up no single African was present. Years after this crime against humanity was committed, this ignoramus set himself out to enforce it by removing poor Africans out of a carved portion by force. Unfortunately animals and near humans are out there defending this shame in the name of protecting territorial integrity and citizens. When the treaty of Rome was signed to create the EU it was because the small nation states are not going to be economically viable entities and therefore need each other to trade and become prosperous. You see when you attack this age long philosophy of people freely trading among themselves, you end up killing commerce and the consequence is economic decline as experienced by Ghana,Nigeria and Cote d ivoire after their shameful act borne out of ignorance.

We call it xenophobia only??? Let's be honest- most of the African under attack in South Africa are there because they a in searvh of food. We blame the white man but he developed the country the rest of the continent is seeing as paradise. At least when the hijacked the resources of Azania, the did not hide them in Swiss banks. They ploughed back in the country they saw as home. Our leaders have failed us. Lets stop blaming our brothers in the South. They are as ignorant as the leaders who decide to transfer our money to foreign lands

While one agrees the violence unleashed by South Africans on other Africans demands condemnation, the broader question is why the conditions which pull Nigerians, Ghanaians, Zimbabweans, Malawians, etc. to SA have not been successfully developed in these countries. Simply put, the leaders of other long-independent Africa countries who have squandered their resources on corruption, and as a result, failed to lift their citizens from the doldrums and crippling poverty that characterizes the lives of many Africans -- in the face of massive material and natural resources -- are to blame. The same tragedy is playing out in the death of hundreds of migrants in Lampedusa and Sicily, where folks in desperate need, take the perilous journey to find work, while their countries remain undeveloped in an abundance of natural resources. The leaders of these countries should be looking themselves in the mirror, and what they get bac as a reflection will be the faces of those unleashing the violence. Because the same violence, both economic and real is meted out daily to most Nigerians, Ghanaians, Zimbabweans and Malawians. Sad, but true.
