Likewise, I have been to many cities in and around Africa and Accra doesnt stand a chance of coming anywhere close to even competing in such a competition. Come on, lets call a spade a spade. I will not be proud and happy if some loony organization funded with ill-gotten monies from a corrupt sponsor, proclaims my 90 year old mother as the most beautiful woman in Africa.

We in Africa should refrain from and desist from giving support to such organizations which all they do is to ultimately entrench mediocrity and ineptitude.

Star fm is a media organization which is established in Accra. They should therefore know - I hope, the sordid conditions prevailing in Accra. So why did they just go and observe and report instead of asking also questions? Taking soli and writing nonsense will not do anybody any good.

Clearly, Star fms standard of journalism is just as bad as the chaotic conditions existing in Accra. Thestory on the subject matter starts by saying that; "Mayor of Accra, Dr Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, has won the inaugural edition of the prestigious President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos African Mayor Awards held in Angola ...". If this was the inaugural edition of this awards event, where did it get the prestige from? Words are not randomly used just to fill up a page. Words must have meaning and must collectively make some sense.

For starters, the journalist who covered this event has, by his/her very amateurish presentation, brought into public disrepute and opprobrium, his/her own abilities as a journalist.

Secondly Star fm will also suffer collateral damage from this screaming cruxifixion of the truth from their establishment. At the very least, I have taken the decision never to tune-in to Star fm for what amounts to a slap in the face of the discerning public.
