  Private Universities and KNUST need to be affililated to Universities outside with high reputation or to the University of Ghana.

  My children were at a private school in airport residential.
  
  They kept telling us that they had certain accreditation..which they didn't.
  Then they raised the fees suddenly..apparently the board had decided to do that. There was no board ..we later found out. it is just one owner/head mistress calling the shots there. Strange US Dollar exchange rates not compliant with bank of Ghana rates.
  
  They are bullying parents, charging ridiculous fees claiming that they are the best school in Ghana and that all our kids will be Harvard graduates. Their curriculum is so bogus but they get away with it. Who monitors them.
  Many parents have taken their kids out. I worry about those who are not aware, who will now pay the crazy admission fees and find that their kids are not being taught the curriculum that they had paid for or that is required for this century and substandard teachers brought in from abroad for one year to pretend as though they are teaching something. That school is a scam. t is a fraudulent arrangement. and they are still open.....how. messing around with the future of our children. Does GES monitor private schools as well.

  The current tertiary education system is too skewed towards liberal courses. This need to be reversed. More technical and vocational courses need to be encouraged. Legon starting engineering and pharmacy courses is laudable. But almost all the private universities offer liberal arts.

  The education system in Ghana is not deformed, rather there are cracks in the window called education. The goal, scope, and purpose of education is to equip the necessary instruments for the younger generations to improve development and stability of Ghana. The secret formula for improving development in Ghana is to pay very close attention to the element that keeps Ghana moving and that is education. Some may and others may not agree, however education can improve development, increase stability, promote equity, and develop further quality research.
  
  Back in 1944-45, the Gold Coast Government spent 350,000 pounds on education with the following goals: (1) increase free access to quality primary education to anyone who wanted it, (2) developed a higher education system that was accessible and world-class, and (3) provided trained professional and technical workers to staff Ghana’s new modern society. The government definitely has to reassess their involvement with education because education should be favorable for ALL not just for the rich, as Professor Akyeampong stated in the article. This leads to nepotism, which has to stop because not everyone is obtaining a quality education. In my opinion, Ghana has to revert to the All-Levels education system where education is accessible to and for all. This eliminates the gender disparity, improves the economy because Ghana would be producing individuals that would contribute to the economic growth and stability, and ensure equity.
  
  There needs to be consistency for education. Along with consistency, there is a dire need for consistent decision-making in regards to education curriculum. When there are changes in government power, the education does not need to be changed because that places students on the losing end.
  
  The current governments sole focus is on money spending, without ACCOUNTABILITY!!! This is the sad story of Africa governments, LACK OF PROPER ACCOUNTABILITY.
  
  Here are some things to consider for Ghana and the future of its education:
  1. How does Ghana define and/or interpret development?
  2. Based on Ghana's interpretation of development, where does education fit in that interpretation?
  3. For the current status of education, are students prepared to assist in the growth in Ghana? I am referring to students contributing to the growth of Ghana.
  
  I pray and hope that my thoughts come to the attention of the government in power.

  The Bible has prescribed a solution to the problem, but man is too wise and have decided to imitate the west and their ideologies.God in His own wisdom knew the nature of man and how stubborn we can be, so He gave advise that we spare the rod and spoil the child. "Oyiwa". Children now don't fear "foko" and refuse to study their books which is = to poor performance and failure in examinations. Ghanaians must wise up. Canning does not kill.
