This colonial relic cannot be seen as tradition. The British zoned the North under certain Chiefs to simplify their indirect rule over the Protectorate - remember the North was not part of the colony.

Under this arrangement, the now Upper East was placed under the Nayiri, part of the now Northern Region under the Ya Naa, while the Upper West and parts of N/R under the Wa Naa. How can this be viewed as the custom that the Nayiri should continue to enskin a chief for areas that were arbitrarily put under him by the British?

I congratulate Naba Abilba for reinstating the sovereignty of the Frafras.

I can deduce from the body language of this article that there is a big conspiracy to circumvent tradition and impose Raymond Abilba on the good people of Bolga. What has the Asantehene got to do with the Bolga skin? How can he enskin the Bolga Naba? In any case, the fact that Raymond Abilba has been enskinned or endorsed by the Asantehene does not legitimize his as Bolga Naba. The Bolga Naba must be enskinned through established tradition. I know that there are about four Royal Gates in the Bolga traditional area, and so it is wrong for Raymond Abilba to succeed his father as Bolga Naba. The skin MUST rotate among the four gates. The skin MUST go to the next Royal Gate in the succession line, and then on to the other two gates in that order before it comes back to the Abilba gate. It is only then that Raymond can become Bolga Naba. And from my calculation, the Atulba Gate is the next in line for the Bolga Skin. And so Mr. Joseph Apakre or anyone else from the Atulba Gate has the entitlement to the Bolga Skin this time around. If we do not handle this issue with care, the Asantehene will spark an endless and senseless war in the Bolga traditional area and set us to fight and kill each other whiles he and his subjects enjoy peace and tranquility in the Ashanti region. Let us follow our traditions and do the right thing, or else we will live to regret our actions or inaction.

Why keep promoting the ashantehene on this site. Does he own ghanaweb? I'm not jealous of him, but it seems there is some kind of discrimination to always report from him and not report from other paramounts or tribal heads.
