Mathematics is the core of learning in modern society. I studied mathematics and without any knowledge of economics entered graduate school to study economics. Reason been that all economic models are based on calculus and statistics (econometrics, game theory, pricing and finance). Alongside mathematics I studied computer science as the most difficult areas of computer science: numerical analysis, artificial intelligence, computer architectue, data structures even databases are math based. So what applications do you want anyone to tell you about? I did some on the side mechanical engineering studies specializing in computer numerical control for my future industrial manufacturing business; here too it is all based on Trignometry for the CAD/CAM G code. Stop your ignorance and listen to what the professor is saying. If I have my way, I will ask every Ghanaian kid to study English for communication skills and mathematics to the level mathematical analysis before checking into any area of study. We are having serious issues with minister of finance and statistical department because Ghana is deaf and dumb in mathematics. The minister of finance cannot explain to IMF how they arrive at figures. The reason IMF insulted us with the stupid loan. Department of statistics cannot explain how they arrive at their figures and conclusions because we have dumb ass people working there. WE are in the trouble we are today because most Ghanaians cannot think logically, like you are doing. Government must spend the money to recruit teachers from outside to train the enthusiast willing to teach. Every nation Indonesia, Malaysia, India, China, South Korea are moving forward because they are learning more mathematics than we are doing.

Maths is a practical subject and knowledgeable teachers must teach it with love and enthusiasm. Maths is not a catapult to be left in the hand of aimless teachers who cannot define maths and explain its propositions, axioms and truth.

We need help as we are down the bottom of development due to lack of knowledge in mathematics and qualified teachers to help. I will resign next year and volunteer to help for free. Mathematics is not Arithematic, it is a language in itself. We need qualified people to help the country, otherwise we will be poorer than we are now.

How does a genuine Professor look like? Do you think Ghana Education Service will support the program if he is not qualified? You could find the answer to your question if you have made your research.

If you doubt him, do your investigations and alert the right agencies to deal with him. At this poit we are interested in the message not who is who. This subject should be dear to Ghanaians as we are losing out to every country. We have been turned into STUPID drunken consumers. We go all over the world importing everything. We cannot think and apply ourselves due to lack of knowledge of mathematics. There JOBS and very good jobs for people with maths background but no takers. We have 3 million jobs right now in the USA without takers, meanwhile there 93 million Americans who have stopped looking for jobs: why there aren't people with maths background to take those jobs. Such positions are been filled with Indians and Asians, where are Ghanaians and Africans? Buy and sell mentality.

I agree with the statement that the Ghanaian mathematics curriculum is geared towards WAEC exams without any relevance to the students' environment. I believe mathematics teachers (in Ghana) need to relate the teaching and learning of mathematics to the students' immediate environment therefore making it more meaningful to the students. Ethnomathematical approaches should be investigated as these may provide the remedy to the challenges facing the teaching and learning of mathematics in Ghana. I'm ready to help in this direction.

I am otherwise happy with you as a wife and I sincerely hope you will not be hurt or offended to learn that by the time you receive this letter that I will be at the Grand Hotel with my 18 year old teaching assistant. I will be home before midnight.
When he arrived at the hotel, there a fax was waiting for him that read as follows:
Dear Husband,
You, too, are 54 years old and by the time you read this, I will be at the Breakwater Hotel with the 18 year old pool boy. Being the brilliant mathematician you are, you can easily appreciate the fact that 18 goes into 54 many more times than 54 goes into 18. Therefore, my love, do not wait up!
