  Several years ago the government denied a legitimate gold exploration company from conducting responsible, low impact exploration within 30km of the dam arguing that their limited efforts would harm the dam. They refused to dash the EPA or MinCom really.
  
  But, the gov't permits 1,000's of galamsey, quite a few of them Chinese, from digging up the ground close to the dam because they're getting their pockets stuffed with cedis...
  
  It's not lack of political will but rather greed & corruption. The worst government I have ever experienced in Ghana.

  Why is there no one in the presence of teh armed police/army or military police at such sites and why are they nor border fenced with a big sign saying trespassers with no valid business will be shot on sight?

  Leave the miners alone, after all the Bui dam isn't delivering as was projected by the lousy governments of former President Kuffour and former President Mills.

  Leave the miners alone, after all the Bui dam isn't delivering as was projected by the lousy governments of former President Kuffour and former President Mills.
  
  Leave the Galamseyers to make a living because there is no work in Ghana. All the Minerals Commission and the Ministry of Lands and Naturals Resources can do and should do is regularise the Galamsey and create a selling point for them to sell their gold nuggets and finds. The state will get more money, and taxes on mineral exploration will increase and accrue into government coffers.
  
  Common sense approach will allow us all to smile.
