It has emerged that Pastor Eric Isaiah Adusah of the United Kingdom-based Global Light Revival Ministries implicated in the death of his British wife may not be the last person to have entered the room of the deceased.

The latest twist to the case is contrary to the narration of the prosecution in the case in which the Ghanaian-born pastor is standing trial for allegedly murdering his wife, Charmaine Speirs.

Pastor Adusah has been charged with murder contrary to Section 46 of Act 29 of 1960.

He is alleged to have between 18 and 20 March, 2015, at Mac Dic Royal Plaza Hotel in Koforidua in the Eastern Region, caused the death of Ms Speirs by 'unlawful harm.'

The prosecution had stated in its facts sheet thaton March 18, 2015, when the accused checked out of the hotel, he had instructed staff at the front desk of the facility not to disturb his wife because she was observing fasting and prayers in her room and needed a quiet time until she checked out on Friday, March 20.

The police said their investigations showed that no one else entered the room after Pastor Adusah had left.

According to the prosecution, the condition of the body clearly showed that Ms Speirs died a couple of days earlier, a situation that raised their suspicion.

Meanwhile, open record of the room purported to have been occupied by the late Ms Speirs, which is in the custody of DAILY GUIDE, indicates that someone else entered the room after Pastor Adusah had left.

According to the document supposedly printed on March 22, 2015, someone from the front office with card number 00020100 at 11:17am entered the room of the deceased on March 19.

Berimah Adjei-Twinin, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mac Dic Hotel, in a telephone interview on Tuesday, among other things, said nobody entered Ms Speirs' room, stressing that 'scan cards are used to open our rooms, not ordinary keys.'

He said although a painter had been asked to paint the ceiling of the room as a result of wine spillage, the person did not enter the room because he (painter) heard the sound of the television set in the room and abandoned the job.

According to Berimah Adjei-Twinin, there is no connection between the painter and the incident, adding that 'if the man had entered the room, he would have been the first to know that the woman was dead.'

The Mac Dic Hotel CEO was emphatic that the whole of March 18, 2015, the deceased did not come out of her room.

Admitting that the police had not arrested any of his staff in respect of the case, he said he was surprised nobody, including one Daniel Offei – the man who booked the room for the couple – visited the deceased after the accused had left for the UK.

The parents of the pregnant Angus woman who was found dead in a bathtub in Ghana grew increasingly worried about their daughter in the weeks leading up to her death.

In an exclusive interview with The Courier, Linda and Peter Speirs revealed how they tried desperately to make contact with their daughter Charmain, who had travelled to Africa to attend a funeral with her husband.

They last heard from Charmain on March 8 and in the days before her body was discovered on March 20 sent several text messages and voicemails to her phone, which seemed to be switched off.

Linda, 61, was so concerned about her daughter’s welfare that she opened a missing person case with local police.

The 41-year-old was found face down in a bath by hotel workers at the Mac Dic Royal Plaza Hotel, Koforidua, in Ghana’s Eastern Region on March 20.

Charmain’s husband Eric Isaiah Adusah, 28, who is a self-proclaimed prophet and leader of Global Light Revival Ministries Church based in London, has now been arrested for her murder.

“March 8 was the last time Charmain contacted me and she normally calls me two or three times a week,” said Linda from her home in Arbroath.

“I had been leaving messages and voicemails on her phone to get in touch and asking what’s wrong. I knew something wasn’t right.”

Linda received a text message, apparently from Charmain’s husband Eric, on March 18 after he had travelled back to Britain alone.

Police in Ghana think that at this point Charmain had already died. The state of her body when it was discovered by hotel workers indicates she had already been dead for three or four days.

Linda said: “I received a text saying ‘that’s me back, mum’ making out that it was from Charmain. It wasn’t – it was from him (Eric). That was on the 18th.

“I texted back ‘Hi Charmain, is that you back in Britain? That’s good’. And all I got back was ‘No, it’s Eric’.

“I asked him where Charmain was. He said ‘she not want to come home’. He said she wanted to stay extra days and that she hadn’t gone to the airport to wave goodbye.”

Eric then texted Linda, stating he had received a call from Ghana saying Charmain, who was three months pregnant, was in hospital and was very ill.

Linda claims that when Eric sent this text message he had already been told the body had been discovered.

“Eric texted me to say he’d just received a phone call from Ghana to say that Charmain had been taken to hospital and that she was ill.

“But he’d already been told in the morning that she was dead. He was lying to me.

“On Saturday night (March 21) he said he was trying to get a flight and that he would go to the hospital on Monday.

“I was asking him what was wrong with her and for the name of the hospital so I could phone them. He wouldn’t tell me.”

Linda and Peter spoke to the police on March 22, who opened a missing person’s case. The following morning, Linda and Peter received a phone call from a Bishop in Ghana, informing them Charmain was dead.

Eric has not submitted a plea to the charge that he caused the death of Ms Speirs by “unlawful harm.” Applications by his lawyers for bail have been refused.

Linda said she was frustrated at the lack of information received from Ghana and said police investigating the case had not contacted them at all.

“It’s shocking that we as the parents are not being told anything,” she added.

Charmain caught up in whirlwind romance

It was a complete shock when Charmain told her parents she was getting married last year as they didn’t even know she had a boyfriend.

Charmain lived in Swansea for the past 11 years after moving there to study photography at Swansea Metropolitan University. She owned a house, which she lived in with her eight-year-old son Isaac who she had in a previous relationship.

When she broke the news of her engagement to her mother Linda she said the wedding was just three months away.

“It was a whirlwind romance,” said Linda. “She phoned me up and said ‘I’m getting married, mum’ and I said ‘I didn’t even know you had a boyfriend’.

“She said he’s really good to me. He buys me this, he buys me that. Turned out it was all for show.

“I said are you bringing him up to meet us? She said yes, but he never came. We met him the day before the wedding.”

Linda said the wedding in September was arranged in such a hurry that only her immediate family – her parents and brother Paul – were invited. She said the marriage quickly deteriorated.

“Eric didn’t even speak to us at the wedding,” Linda added. “We now know from speaking to her best pal that she had doubts about the marriage on her wedding day and it deteriorated immediately.

“He didn’t give her any money and he had nothing to do with my grandson. Charmain told Eric that she wanted to stay in Swansea for a year so that Isaac could get used to him.

“But a few weeks later he went against his word and said ‘we’re moving to Essex’.”

Peter and Linda last saw their 41-year-old daughter exactly a month before her death, when she stayed with them at their Moir Place home for six days.

Linda said that Charmain was in tears about the state of her marriage when she left Arbroath on February 20.

“I only wish she had opened up and we wouldn’t have allowed her back,” said Linda.

Linda said Charmain had her three-month pregnancy scan shortly before leaving for Ghana, to attend the funeral of Eric’s father.

Charmain suffered bad morning sickness but despite this Eric showed her little support, Linda said, spending more of his time at the Global Light Revival Ministries Church.

“He was always away,” said Linda.

Lawyer claims autopsy showed self-inflicted heroin overdose

Reports from Ghana indicate that Charmain may have been dead for up to four days when her body was found.

Eric Adusah allegedly left the hotel on March 17, a day after the couple had checked in, after telling staff his wife did not like to be disturbed and she would call on them if required.

He then flew back to Britain and only returned to Ghana after his wife’s body was discovered. He had been “invited” to return by police who suspected foul play.

He was then arrested for her murder. Mr Adusah is yet to submit a plea in court to the charge.

However, his lawyer has claimed that an autopsy shows that Charmain died from a heroin overdose which was “very self inflicted”.

Charmain’s mother Linda said Charmain would never take drugs.

Husband won’t allow family to bring daughter’s body home

Charmain’s parents have been desperately trying to bring her body back to Scotland since being told the devastating news of her death.

However, Ghanaian law means permission has to be granted by Charmain’s husband.

Currently imprisoned in Ghana’s capital Accra while he awaits his trial, Eric Adusah is not granting approval to her parents.

“We want to get her body home so we can put her to rest,” said Linda.

“It was her birthday last week which was a very hard day for me, especially when she’s still lying out there.

“We’ve spoken to the High Commissioner about it but Ghanaian law states the husband needs to give permission and Britain can’t interfere with Ghanaian law.

“We just want to get her home.”

1 Charmain moved from Arbroath in her 20's with her boyfriend at the time but remained in close contact with her family here in Arbroath. She eventually moved to Wales with her partner as he got into University there and Charmain also got into university to study photography. The relationship unfortunately did not last but she was eager to finish her course. She then met her sons father and then found out she was pregnant. Unfortunately the relationship broke down. We tried to get Charmain to come home to Scotland but Charmain did not want to take her son away from his father and at this point got involved with the church to help out with her son. Charmain's mother and father were in constant contact with her.
2 You ask about the relationship between her parents and there son in law. Well there was no relationship between them because charmain's mother only met him on 2 occasions once when they were supposed to come through to Arbroath but then asked Linda to met them in Edinburgh which she did. They were late in arriving and Linda did not get to spend much time with her daughter and future son in law. The next time they met was at the wedding. Eric was not around much and had other people drive them around, they never got to find out much about him at all. He did not want them staying at Charmain's house in Wales and wanted them to stay at the bible collage which Charmain's father refused to do. The only relatives of Chafmain's at the wedding was her mum, dad and brother non of the rest of Charmain's family were invited to the wedding despite Charmain telling them invites would be rolling out soon. Eric did not introduce them to anyone at the wedding and it was noted that he did not show any affection to Charmain on the day. Charmain wanted to stay in Swansea for the first year of marriage to let her son get used to Eric but Eric after the wedding refused to do this and made Charmain move to Essex on a promise that he would be able to spend more time with her and her son. This did not happen and Charmain felt very isolated living in Essex away from all her friends. Eric would spend more time away from her staying at his church overnight. When Charmain found out she was pregnant and was quite ill with morning sickness and tried to get intouch with Eric as she was so ill she could not stop being sick. She ended up phoning her father who had to phone an ambulance in Scotland to get an ambulance to go to her in Essex. Her father eventually got hold of Eric and shouted at him for not being there for his daughter when she needed him and told him to get home to her.
3 Eric had arranged for them to come through to Arbroath in February to visit get family, the night before leaving Eric announced that he could not come with her and had to go to Edinburgh to escort 3 girls from a choir round Edinburgh. Charmain and her son came to Arbroath on a cheap bus through the night and took 10 hours to get to Dundee where her mum and dad met her to bring her to Arbroath, while Eric traveled first class on a sleeper bus to Edinburgh. While Charmain was here in Arbroath she got very upset after Eric sent her pictures of him with theses 3 girls. Charmain ended going through to Edinburgh to speak with him and arranged for him to stay else where instead of in the same hotel as these girls. Eric came through to Arbroath on the Thursday for 2 hours, he did not speak much to Charmain's father and did not see her mother as she was working but made sure to go and see Charmain's gran but every time he was asked a question he would get up and say sorry I need to make a call. He left to go back to Edinburgh without even giving Charmain a kiss which upset her . So your answer is he spent 2 hours with her.
4 what was there attitude towards Eric while he was here well they never got a chance to have any attitude with him because he did not speak to anyone and no one had a chance to speak to him.
5 yes they had the address of where they had moved to that was how her father was able to get an ambulance to go to her when she was ill. Charmain's mother was shocked when she said she was moving as it meant taking her son away from his father something Charmain said she would never do. Then later her mother found out Eric had made Charmain get rid of all her furniture and belongings. She was in tears when in Arbroath saying she had nothing of her own anymore. This man had taken her away from her friends and made her get rid of her belongings. Charmain told us the reason for going to Ghana was for Eric's biological father funeral, which Eric also confirmed this to Charmain's gran and yet nothing has been mentioned about this in any of the reports. We all questioned Charmain about her reasons for going to Ghana and her reply was that it would be a chance to met Eric's family and that Eric had told her she would be treated like a princess and that they were flying out on the Tuesday and Eric had arranged all the flights.
So my question is why did she end up flying out on her own ?

Because he felt it wasn't the right time for her to go to ghana, expecially with the pregnancy, and even asked her to at least wait till delivery and then they can all go together but, she refused and even started processing her visa.2.The family never made an effort to really know anything about Eric, so pls from what you are saying, I think there's not much truth in it 3. Eric even before he got married,will abundant his house for sometime and sleep at the church premises for some weeks. because of the intensity of the work but, not to say it is right for a husband to do that. But i personally think that Eric will never leave the wife unless the wife has giving him the permission, and that it has been mutually been arranged. To end, I must say it's so so quiet unfortunate that this has happened, but I personally don't think that is the time to portion blames, because if the family thinks that they have lost a daughter, I do understand but, we shouldn't also forgot that Pastor Eric also has lost a wife and a child.Besides, the Pastor Eric I know is a gentle soul who will NOT hert anyone. And believe me, I can boldly steff my neck out for him. It's an unfortunate thing that has happened,and I think is a time we all have to pray for the husband and the family, rather than portion blames.

17 why would he leave his pregnant white wife in a foreign country on her own ?

19 if he did and didn't get an answer then why did he not alert the hotel and alert them that he couldn't get an answer.
20 why would Eric not answer any of the questions that were being put to him by her parents when he was returning to Ghana ?

Let him answer these questions and then let us judge his answers. Regardless of what the out come is, this man still guilty of contributing towards Charmains death by neglect, he neglected to look after his pregnant wife. He neglected to look after not just Charmain but his unborn child and you say he's not guilty.

Sure they have no evidence but one thing we all know for sure is that the pastor has been arrested. So the question you must ask yourself is why has he, of all the people in the world, been arrested? If I check into a hotel with my wife and it later becomes absolutely necessary for me to leave her alone in the hotel room for a few days especially at a time when she is not feeling very well, my instruction to the hotel management would be to check on her from time to time. Although no one on this forum has any evidence to prove anything against the pastor we all have the right to voice out our opinions; and for those, like me, who believe that the self-proclaimed pastor might have had a hand in his wife's death the circumstantial evidence linking him to the crime as reported in the news is causing the raising eyebrows. If, to YOU he is a holy man, and therefore cannot commit such a dastardly act so be it.

The parents of the pregnant Angus woman who was found dead in a bathtub in Ghana grew increasingly worried about their daughter in the weeks leading up to her death.

In an exclusive interview with The Courier, Linda and Peter Speirs revealed how they tried desperately to make contact with their daughter Charmain, who had travelled to Africa to attend a funeral with her husband.

They last heard from Charmain on March 8 and in the days before her body was discovered on March 20 sent several text messages and voicemails to her phone, which seemed to be switched off.

Linda, 61, was so concerned about her daughter’s welfare that she opened a missing person case with local police.

The 41-year-old was found face down in a bath by hotel workers at the Mac Dic Royal Plaza Hotel, Koforidua, in Ghana’s Eastern Region on March 20.

Charmain’s husband Eric Isaiah Adusah, 28, who is a self-proclaimed prophet and leader of Global Light Revival Ministries Church based in London, has now been arrested for her murder.

“March 8 was the last time Charmain contacted me and she normally calls me two or three times a week,” said Linda from her home in Arbroath.

“I had been leaving messages and voicemails on her phone to get in touch and asking what’s wrong. I knew something wasn’t right.”

Linda received a text message, apparently from Charmain’s husband Eric, on March 18 after he had travelled back to Britain alone.

Police in Ghana think that at this point Charmain had already died. The state of her body when it was discovered by hotel workers indicates she had already been dead for three or four days.

Linda said: “I received a text saying ‘that’s me back, mum’ making out that it was from Charmain. It wasn’t – it was from him (Eric). That was on the 18th.

“I texted back ‘Hi Charmain, is that you back in Britain? That’s good’. And all I got back was ‘No, it’s Eric’.

“I asked him where Charmain was. He said ‘she not want to come home’. He said she wanted to stay extra days and that she hadn’t gone to the airport to wave goodbye.”

Eric then texted Linda, stating he had received a call from Ghana saying Charmain, who was three months pregnant, was in hospital and was very ill.

Linda claims that when Eric sent this text message he had already been told the body had been discovered.

“Eric texted me to say he’d just received a phone call from Ghana to say that Charmain had been taken to hospital and that she was ill.

“But he’d already been told in the morning that she was dead. He was lying to me.

“On Saturday night (March 21) he said he was trying to get a flight and that he would go to the hospital on Monday.

“I was asking him what was wrong with her and for the name of the hospital so I could phone them. He wouldn’t tell me.”

Linda and Peter spoke to the police on March 22, who opened a missing person’s case. The following morning, Linda and Peter received a phone call from a Bishop in Ghana, informing them Charmain was dead.

Eric has not submitted a plea to the charge that he caused the death of Ms Speirs by “unlawful harm.” Applications by his lawyers for bail have been refused.

Linda said she was frustrated at the lack of information received from Ghana and said police investigating the case had not contacted them at all.

“It’s shocking that we as the parents are not being told anything,” she added.

Charmain caught up in whirlwind romance

It was a complete shock when Charmain told her parents she was getting married last year as they didn’t even know she had a boyfriend.

Charmain lived in Swansea for the past 11 years after moving there to study photography at Swansea Metropolitan University. She owned a house, which she lived in with her eight-year-old son Isaac who she had in a previous relationship.

When she broke the news of her engagement to her mother Linda she said the wedding was just three months away.

“It was a whirlwind romance,” said Linda. “She phoned me up and said ‘I’m getting married, mum’ and I said ‘I didn’t even know you had a boyfriend’.

“She said he’s really good to me. He buys me this, he buys me that. Turned out it was all for show.

“I said are you bringing him up to meet us? She said yes, but he never came. We met him the day before the wedding.”

Linda said the wedding in September was arranged in such a hurry that only her immediate family – her parents and brother Paul – were invited. She said the marriage quickly deteriorated.

“Eric didn’t even speak to us at the wedding,” Linda added. “We now know from speaking to her best pal that she had doubts about the marriage on her wedding day and it deteriorated immediately.

“He didn’t give her any money and he had nothing to do with my grandson. Charmain told Eric that she wanted to stay in Swansea for a year so that Isaac could get used to him.

“But a few weeks later he went against his word and said ‘we’re moving to Essex’.”

Peter and Linda last saw their 41-year-old daughter exactly a month before her death, when she stayed with them at their Moir Place home for six days.

Linda said that Charmain was in tears about the state of her marriage when she left Arbroath on February 20.

“I only wish she had opened up and we wouldn’t have allowed her back,” said Linda.

Linda said Charmain had her three-month pregnancy scan shortly before leaving for Ghana, to attend the funeral of Eric’s father.

Charmain suffered bad morning sickness but despite this Eric showed her little support, Linda said, spending more of his time at the Global Light Revival Ministries Church.

“He was always away,” said Linda.

Lawyer claims autopsy showed self-inflicted heroin overdose

Reports from Ghana indicate that Charmain may have been dead for up to four days when her body was found.

Eric Adusah allegedly left the hotel on March 17, a day after the couple had checked in, after telling staff his wife did not like to be disturbed and she would call on them if required.

He then flew back to Britain and only returned to Ghana after his wife’s body was discovered. He had been “invited” to return by police who suspected foul play.

He was then arrested for her murder. Mr Adusah is yet to submit a plea in court to the charge.

However, his lawyer has claimed that an autopsy shows that Charmain died from a heroin overdose which was “very self inflicted”.

Charmain’s mother Linda said Charmain would never take drugs.

Husband won’t allow family to bring daughter’s body home

Charmain’s parents have been desperately trying to bring her body back to Scotland since being told the devastating news of her death.

However, Ghanaian law means permission has to be granted by Charmain’s husband.

Currently imprisoned in Ghana’s capital Accra while he awaits his trial, Eric Adusah is not granting approval to her parents.

“We want to get her body home so we can put her to rest,” said Linda.

“It was her birthday last week which was a very hard day for me, especially when she’s still lying out there.

“We’ve spoken to the High Commissioner about it but Ghanaian law states the husband needs to give permission and Britain can’t interfere with Ghanaian law.

“We just want to get her home.”

So how does the hotel comes in? Secondly, the cause of death as by the autopsy report indicate "acute heroine poisoning" are you saying the hotel committed that crime and need to be closed? I think we should also worry about the guy who booked the room and brought the lady to the hotel before he brought the husband to join her on the 16th when they checked into the hotel. The same guy came for the pastor's luggage on 17th to the airport at 11pm and the pastor left later at around 2 am. The question is, why didn't this guy check on the woman knowing very well the husband has left her alone in the hotel? There are more questions to be answered than u think the hotel should be closed!

It has emerged that Pastor Eric Isaiah Adusah of the United Kingdom-based Global Light Revival Ministries implicated in the death of his British wife may not be the last person to have entered the room of the deceased.

The latest twist to the case is contrary to the narration of the prosecution in the case in which the Ghanaian-born pastor is standing trial for allegedly murdering his wife, Charmaine Speirs.

Pastor Adusah has been charged with murder contrary to Section 46 of Act 29 of 1960.

He is alleged to have between 18 and 20 March, 2015, at Mac Dic Royal Plaza Hotel in Koforidua in the Eastern Region, caused the death of Ms Speirs by 'unlawful harm.'

The prosecution had stated in its facts sheet thaton March 18, 2015, when the accused checked out of the hotel, he had instructed staff at the front desk of the facility not to disturb his wife because she was observing fasting and prayers in her room and needed a quiet time until she checked out on Friday, March 20.

The police said their investigations showed that no one else entered the room after Pastor Adusah had left.

According to the prosecution, the condition of the body clearly showed that Ms Speirs died a couple of days earlier, a situation that raised their suspicion.

Meanwhile, open record of the room purported to have been occupied by the late Ms Speirs, which is in the custody of DAILY GUIDE, indicates that someone else entered the room after Pastor Adusah had left.

According to the document supposedly printed on March 22, 2015, someone from the front office with card number 00020100 at 11:17am entered the room of the deceased on March 19.

Berimah Adjei-Twinin, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mac Dic Hotel, in a telephone interview on Tuesday, among other things, said nobody entered Ms Speirs' room, stressing that 'scan cards are used to open our rooms, not ordinary keys.'

He said although a painter had been asked to paint the ceiling of the room as a result of wine spillage, the person did not enter the room because he (painter) heard the sound of the television set in the room and abandoned the job.

According to Berimah Adjei-Twinin, there is no connection between the painter and the incident, adding that 'if the man had entered the room, he would have been the first to know that the woman was dead.'

The Mac Dic Hotel CEO was emphatic that the whole of March 18, 2015, the deceased did not come out of her room.

Admitting that the police had not arrested any of his staff in respect of the case, he said he was surprised nobody, including one Daniel Offei – the man who booked the room for the couple – visited the deceased after the accused had left for the UK.

Secondly, the cause of death as by the autopsy report indicate "acute heroine poisoning" are you saying the hotel committed that crime and need to be closed? I think we should also worry about the guy who booked the room and brought the lady to the hotel before he brought the husband to join her on the 16th when they checked into the hotel. The same guy came for the pastor's luggage on 17th to the airport at 11pm and the pastor left later at around 2 am. The question is, why didn't this guy check on the woman knowing very well the husband has left her alone in the hotel? There are more questions to be answered than u think the hotel should be closed!

2 why did Eric not join her and stay at yours on his arrival but checked into a guest house?
3 what were the tablets that Eric was going to get her to help with her morning sickness ?
4 You are a herble doctor did they come from you?
5 your security met Charmain at the airport. If Charmain had decided to stay on in Ghana why did Eric not arrange with one of your security men to look after her?
