The lion was proud of his mastery of the animal kingdom. One day he decided to make sure all the other animals knew he was king of the jungle. He was so confident that he bypassed the smaller animals and went straight to the bear.

"Who is the king of the jungle?" the lion asked.

"Why, of course, you are," the bear replied. The lion gave a mighty roar of approval.

Next he asked the tiger, "Who is the king of the jungle?"

The tiger quickly responded, "Everyone knows that YOU are, oh mighty lion."

Next on the list was the elephant. "Who is the king of the jungle?" the lion asked.

The elephant immediately grabbed the lion with his trunk, whirled him around in the air five or six times and slammed him into a tree. Then he pounded him onto the ground several times, dunked him under water in a nearby lake and finally dumped him out on the shore.

The lion — beaten, bruised and battered — struggled to his feet.

"Look," he told the elephant, "just because you don't know the answer is no reason to get upset."

If they will not bulge just keep your cash for better use

It's about time this ugly bear of a man who specializes in going after other men's wives with his ill-gotten wealth was put in his proper place.

This man has never contributed a dime to the development of the Party as rightly echoed by MP Ursula Owusu even though he benefited greatly from Kuffour when he made him Deputy and then substantive Minister of State. In all cases, Ashitey flopped miserably and was moved from Ministry to Ministry as he also showed signs of indiscipline. However, he made tons of money illegally through shady contract awards by his cohorts at the TMA in 2003 and pre-mix fuel-related activities as the Minister for Fisheries. Kuffour under his policy of,"Chop-make-I-chop," swept all this under the carpet even though he and others were indicted in the former. However come Party elections time, Ashitey would influence the delegates with money and "essential commodities" to vote for him. When his MO didn't work and he as an incumbent MP lost his party's nomination, he threatened not to pay his filing fee! I wonder why such a character won the Regional Chairmanship later.

Of more serious concern is the fact that Ashitey was one of the originators of the slogan, "Sons of the soil": That only the indigenous people of Tema should become NPP MPs no matter how incompetent they are even though non-indigens have contributed more to the development of Tema and its environs. Sadly, he is trying to encourage this myopic, xenophobic and dangerous idea in the NDC at Tema. This is coming from a 3-term MP whose constituency became filthier and more congested under his watch because he pocketed the bigger chunk of his share of the Common Fund to build himself a bigger house after his tenure together with ill-gotten funds. His latest episode of indiscipline should therefore bee seen in this light. It's also interesting to note that just before the last general elections, Ashitey was suspended for indiscipline but he didn't have to serve his sentence as those without balls within the National Executive managed to persuade the rest to "forgive" him.

Ashitey is also the cause of the rift between Tema West and Tema East Constituency members in the TMA because of the TMA financial malfeasance in 2003 which was engineered by Ashitey, Ashong Narh (the then CEO) and others from the East in the TMA and who again prevented the law from taking its course. The Tema West Constituency Assembly members in the TMA feel the Assembly was cheated of funds that could've been used for development purposes.

Kuffour didn't discipline him; the National Executive didn't discipline him. So are you surprised that he is behaving like the proverbial donkey?

No creativity, no imagination, no goodness, no beauty- just pure ugliness layered upon ugliness.

What Ghana needs is a coup detat, and house sweeping. All the old folks like Rawlings, Akuffo Addo, Mahama all with antiquated minds must retire.

The question is: what have the new generations got to offer? Zero. The new generations are even more ignorant than their primitive fathers.
