If they truly want to serve the public, then they should earn the public trust by declaring their assets to enhance transparency. Politics should afford a politician a comfortable life style but should not make one filthy rich. The evidence that politicians are beginning to own all the commercial interests in the country are signs that maybe Ghana is not ready for true democracy.

That corrupt man said its normal to borrow money for campaign. But maybe to him it's not normal to pay back. The Bank is asking your party which had defaulted to settle the overdraft. Pay up and stop your silly defence.

Banks are not for political parties neither are they Lodges. This is how banks become bankrupt. It is a shame for the anger striken ex-minister to make that loose statement. He should come again.

Then why havent you paid up and allow it to accrue interest with the loan now standing at +2M?. It is 3 years and you havent made any payment and you think it is not a big deal?

Beyond the economy, is it not possible that the cause of the NPP problems is largely due to the payment of this loan.

Defaulting on the loan brings a lot of constrains on the liquidity strength of the bank. You should be addressing issues that borders on paying back the loan on time and not justifying going in for the loan.

Giving a bank loan to a political party is a conflict of interest waiting to happen. This type of financial arrangements tend to make Ghana look like a kindergarten among the world of nations. Political parties are not independent entities because they are subject to influence peddling. This is one reason Ghana no longer receives direct financial assistance grants from the United States. The US continues to give grants to Ghana in the form of indirect aid by sending its own American workers to do work that the US has designated. The work done has no benefit for Ghana per se. The grant funds pay the American Workers who instantly repatriate the moneys back to their homelands while the obsequious and underpaid Ghanaian rushes to feed and house the superior white man out of his meager earnings. But I digress.

A political party is supposed to sustain its party affiliations through donations by people who subscribe to the party's agenda. Do not let the commercial banks play a role because then the party which wins becomes the pawn of the bank. Thus the political party and the bank will do things for one another and nothing for the common citizen who actually voted. You should always look with suspicion at the transactions that take place between political parties and the business establishment. This is where the seeds of corruption are initially planted.

When ex-President Kufuor asumened the presidency in 2001, he was so poor that he could not foot the bills of renovations carried out on his house. It took the intervention of a good spirited farmer to "bail" him out. Surprisingly however, by the end of his presidency, he was able to cough out a whoping sixty million dollars to fund Nana Akuffo Addo's presidential campaign without sweat.

Such is the nature of the party making every effort to con Ghanaians to entrust the Administration to, as if ALL Ghanaians have forgotten the nightmarish governance they put them through. Certainly, refusing to repay a bank loan contracted for political Campaign IS NO BIG DEAL.

It's not a big deal if signatories and withdrawals are controlled by executives and they can account for usage. It's a big deal if these funds usage cannot be accounted for signatories are non npp executives.
