First, my condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones. Second, I pray that the Lord will receive the departed to Himself. Third, of course, Pres. Mahama did not cause the rains to fall neither did he set the filling station on fire. However, our politicians including president cannot escape from some of the blame. The first duty of every government is to protect its citizens from external and internal forces which, sadly, natural and made disasters are part. For this reason and more, our politicians are to ensure that certain systems are in place to counter the effects or consequences of these natural disasters. For example, it is the duty of the government to ensure that regulations regarding drainage systems are adhered to. If government department responsible for this had done its work, the flooding may not have been too bad. Even if they had done their work well and the floods came, measures taken by the government before the flood to anticipate this happening could have saved lives. I am not blaming any one person or organisation but want to float the idea that God does work through people and systems to save his people. Perhaps all of us should learn a lesson from this and discharge our duties from now on anticipating repetition of this and therefore save lives. I hope and pray that I have made sense with my contribution to this debate. God bless Ghana and all those who love her.

Recently BBC showed Ghanaian doctors performing an operation using mobile phone light to see what they're doing.

Anytime I am in Ghana, my first thought is health and safety because the over-population in the city centres alone is enough for anyone to see the flaws in such areas as Gas Stations, market areas and on the streets where hawkers risk their lives.

Life is precious and we must take care of each other. Government alone can not do it all and no politician must deceive anyone he has the magic touch.

Health and safety issues should be on top agenda as Ghana celebrates June-4. Good luck to my fellow Ghanaians as I 'dey' inside London. And my deepest heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved families.

Word of caution; People should listen to weather forecast to stay away from any impending rains as this will continue.

The is always natural disaster everywhere in the world but we need to minimize the effect. We don't build filling/gas station in residential area. That is a common sense. Petrol is volatile and a hazardous substance.

We're lazy and love big post and big cars both NPP/NDC members and do not want to sweat. This nation needs builders but no one wants to work but put on suit and locked up in air-conditioned offices,both NPP/NDC.
That special politician that loves Ghana first is nowhere in that nation. And even if he's there and wanna turn things around, we won't let him because we hate laws and LAW IS GOD AND GOD IS LAW.
We're all rotten and only a strong leader that could jail wrong doers can save us. But we believed simply because we're practicing so-called democracy, it is an open season to be corrupt and anyone who dares to jail our corrupt behind is abusing our human rights.
Why we do not have the balls to demo houses built on water way? And we think we can solve the flood of Accra and other places with the same care-free attitude? Everything revolves around law. The law of the water way has to be tackled or else we should expect more calamities.

Now, was the recent flooding at some areas in Houston-Texas the fault of the Obama administration, huh?

And, oh, doctors using mobile phones as a source of light to operate are at least much safer than using candles to do the same, some four or so decades ago. Why were they employed? Why are they paid every month? Just to sit at their offices and not to work? They are responsible for stopping all construction works in waterways. If people build in waterways, it is the fault of the city and not the individuals. The city has failed to do his job.

As we all know, illiteracy in Ghana is very high, as a result, people do not consider all these b4 puting up structures. It is thefore the responsibility of those who know better to educate, discourage, and even use force to atennuate building in waterways.
I blame the city for this.

3, there could be small gas leaks at the gas station. please inspect all other gas stations in the country for safety reasons.
4,There will always be rains so lets think about cleaning the sewers that are blocked with debris.
