  People are claiming land from the sea and stupid people wants to leave dry land as waterways. There is nothing like waterway on try land. It is either a stream or river, else appropriate drainage systems must be built instead. What you call waterways is another way of saying lack of drainage system. It's only failed countries that have waterways on dry land.

  Dear Mr. Otu,even in such a highly developed country like Germany,floods occur.The authorities here improve the drainage system but don`t pull down houses percieved to be on waterways!Don`t these houses to be demolished have building permits and also property rates paid all these years?Pulling down such houses can never solve this problem.What we need is a good drainage system.Also,we have very dangerous open gutters filled with filth but nobody cares.Come to Europe and find out if there are open gutters!Our leaders don`t know how to solve problems.Last time, when I visited Ghana with my son,he nearly broke his leg when he fell into a gutter.Born in Germany and has German mother,he never understood our stupidity in building such gutters.It isn`t too late for us to learn from the whites!

It is an indication that indication that despite the fact that Ghana has been a sovereign nation since1957, we still do not have a credible disaster management plan in place to enable proactively manage potential disasters. At best we have been firefighting disasters. This means that as soon as a disaster, such as flooding, recedes, national interim efforts also recedes into oblivion; only to resurface when the disaster resurfaces. Oh, AMA GHANA, WHAT A DISGRACE!!!!!
