Quite recently, the state of Texas in the United States of America received a full dose of its annual flooding—but mainly “from overflowing rivers” and not from bad drainage system or illegally constructed building structures and misplaced kiosks.

NOW, SIT YOUR DAMN ASS DOWN AND LISTEN UP, NEGRO: This is an annual affair that will continue to happen, so the following officials and institutions should pay attention and start to do the right things to minimize future damages from the rainstorms:

1) The Accra Mayor and his administration;

2) The President and the national government (MPs & Cabinet Ministers, etc.);

3) Ghana's TOWN PLANNERS and related inspectors of illegally constructed buildings; and

4) The Sanitary agency (if we have one), which should see to it that the GUTTERS are properly drained, especially when getting to May/June/July every year.

WHY does this happen every year and still the Negro is clueless to FIX IT?? New building constructions should have the proper PERMITS, so they’re not situated to block proper drainage systems—for it makes absolutely no sense to experience this every year. Figure the damn thing out and fix it, Mayor!!

I enjoy the way you also express your feelings, but please Dr Vanderpuye is not the problem with what happened at circle fire cum flooding. I think it is time you and the like minded people throw away your political bitterness towards the mayor and rather turn to support him so that he can use all the powers within his authority to implement all the byelaws of the city council so that people building in wrong areas will be prevented, water ways would not be blocked just to mention few.

Accra's problems extend beyond its topography. Most of Accra lies below sea level and therefore a prey to torrential rainfall. Secondly, people have built houses all over the place without regard to zoning laws. All these taken together means disaster is waiting to happen whenever there is a torrential rainfall. The drainage system that could have helped to ensure free-flow of rainwater is probably choke full of garbage and whatever else the citizens imagine of dumping in the gutters. Given that floods seem to be an annual occurrence, the city should have planned ahead to stem any potential disaster and to ensure flood victims are evacuated to temporary shelters.

What exactly is the work of the meteorological department if theycannot predict the weather condition and advice the general public on what to expect and what do? We all saw what happened to the president ,hhis guests and the general public last two years at the independence parade. Disaster happened everywhere in the world but some like the one that just happened in Ghana can be predicted and precaution taken by residents if the meteorological department was able to give an accurate forecast and the appropriate law enforcers made sure that people relocate or evaluation done early enough. I think that the personnel working at the Ghana meteorological department are as obsolete as the equipment they have and the earlier they are fired and replaced the better it for Ghanaians.

The solution to the flooding is one thing:
Sewer system.
Dr. Busia proposed the construction of a sewer system long ago in 1969. The government should revisit that. At that time Ghanaians, especially the Ga people in Accra did not understand. They mocked Busia for such a project. They thought Busia should have thought about a better project. After proposing the construction of a sewer that will link all of Accra. He became a laughing stock among the Ga people.

Mr. Mayor, all that Ghana needs and the solution to what just happened is what Busia wanted to do several years ago - construction of a sewer system.

Ghanaians should stop the politics and vote for responsible leaders who knows what a nation needs. Ghanaians should be educated about who they vote. We should vote for people, because they come from our tribe or town or area, but because they are fit for the job. Then we can have qualified leaders in the government.
