The answer to your question is the minority in parliament are always until something happens because the NDC administration is the least transparent in the nation's history. Everything they do is done in secret and you must be old enough to know that it's only bad things that are mostly done in secrecy or under the cover of darkness. The NDC was voted for in 2008 to accelerate the development the NPP had already begun and initiate new development of their own. It was not elected to slow down or bring to a halt development initiatives by the previous administration or worse still repeat mistakes of the past. Why do some of you guys choose party over state? Why are you always quick to point fingers at the previous NPP administration when the NDC administration is caught stealing state money? By all means support the party of your choice but cease from supporting crime or sordid acts that are detrimental to the welfare of the state. Always put your nation first and party second.

Simply put, it has been close to three years since this above sum was appropriated to the portfolio of the ruling government for such a project according to them, why then wait all this years only to complain about misappropriation now?

Hooting and jeering was not enough, the crowd should have pelted them with stones and any projectiles that were available at the scene.

These fools voted to divert more than 600 million dollars for construction of culverts that could have stopped the perennial flooding in Accra. These fools diverted the money to projects where they got their 10% cuts to put up these Petrol stations in residential neighborhoods which unfortunately good citizens of our country have to pay for with their dear lives.

That tells me something was being done right to prevent flooding during those times, maybe there were not as much sewage blockings or obtructions, it tells also almost every other year the rains might be more. The strangest thing is that when there was no flooding NPP was in power. What we need to do is to clean up our city and do some serious construction to channel the water before it becomes a disaster

In March, 2012 late President Mills was in Washington DC where a dinner was held in his honor by the Business Council for International Understanding, an umbrella body for American businesses. This was as a result of Government of Ghana having signed two memorandum of understanding with two US companies (Conti Engineering and General Electric) to rehabilitate the Western Railway and the construction of Accra drainage system.

The amount involved was $795 million dollar loan which $595 million was for the Western Railways and $200 million was for the Accra drainage system. The then Finance Minister, Mr. Duffour and Deputy Transportation Minister, Ms. Dzifa Ativor signed on behalf of Ghana Government whilst the two Managing Directors of Conti Engineering and General Electric signed for their respective companies.

The Mayor, Mr. Vanderpuye when speaking with Graphic.Com at that time indicated that he was going to make sure that the necessary documentations were fast tracked for Parliament to approve the loan of $795 million dollars for work on both projects to commence without delay.

Now the big question is did the Mayor worked for the acquisition of the loan or it was same NDC propaganda talk to deceive the general public? If the loan was secured, then where is the money? Folks nobody is to tell me that this disaster could not have been averted should the above deal had gone through 3years ago. We are our own enemies and detractors as well as nation wreckers. All we think about is our individual pockets and nothing else.

We are watching critical with eagle eyes and the doom day will happen and Chairman Rawlings time of the '80s and '90s will not equal to that. Mark my words.

In the US, even doing extension in your own house is not done without city approval and inspection. So what are you talking about. The gvt must stamp his feet on the ground and check the illegal structures being put up all over the city. It is never the fault of the people, rather the problem is 100% with those in authority.

If the gvt is dumb then the people will also live the way they like. Why do we have building codes, zoning areas to build, and places to preserve for nature causes and no one seem to care to implement the laws. yet there are people who are assigned to this job cashing in salary every month. We are not serious, our gvt is not serious. It's so sad and unfortunate that it has happened this way.

Although most of the lands in Ghana do not belong to the gvt, it is the responsibility of the city planners to plan where to build and where not to. You might say but the city does that. Ok, agreed, but what do they do when they see people building in forbidden areas? Nothing, and that is what we all are suffering from now. Negligence, lack of vigilance, and not taking due diligence in what we are paid to do is costing us all these. However, I wonder why such people are still at post. I don't understand why the president can't fire people who are sleeping on the job. A leader must be bold in using the sword without looking at whose goat is slaughtered. If Mahama continues with his gentleman, psychedelic, and I don't want to offend people attitude, we will not move anywhere as a nation.

"The Ghana Government has signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with two US companies for the reconstruction of drains in the national capital, Accra and the rehabilitation of its Western rail lines.
The total cost of the project is $795 million.
Five hundred and 95 million dollars has been earmarked for the Accra drains while $200 million will be used for the rehabilitation the Western rail lines.
Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffuor and Deputy Minister of Transport, Ms Dzifa Attivor initialled for Ghana, while the Managing Directors of Conti Engineering and General Electric signed for their respective companies.
The signing ceremony took place at a dinner organised in honour of President John Evan Atta Mills by the Business Council for International Understanding, an umbrella body for American businesses in Washington DC.
President Mills said the government would continue to create the necessary atmosphere to woo more investors into Ghana.
The US Ambassador to Ghana, Donald Teitlebaum lauded Ghana’s democratic credentials urging American businesses to invest in its economy.
He said besides Ghana’s economy being one of the fastest growing in the world, the country also had a friendly environment for investment.
Mr Teitlebaum used the opportunity to explain President Barrack Obama’s policy of partnership for growth.
The Mayor of Accra, Alfred Vanderpuye, indicated to graphic.com.gh that all the necessary documentation would be fast tracked for Parliament to approve the loan to enable work to begin on the project as soon as practicable".

Loan was approved by parliament in 2012.

The solution lies in suspending all political parties for a while, forming a union government which should consist of representatives from all the current parties. Within the union government sub groups should be formed with each subgroup assigned a specific problem to curtail e.g a subgroup to curtail corruption, another subgroup to curtail food distribution etc.At present , there is no single party which can be honestly classified to solve the on-going problems. This system will be good for all of us. How can a CEO in America manage a $67 billion a year company profitably but a country like Ghana of only $19 billion GNP with all the natural resources cannot find her footing? Why oh why?. Land for land, Ghana is richer than the USA but the latter is progressingly growing because of the people.Problems crop up here in the US but within the shortest period of time, they get solved. The difference is the PEOPLE.Fellow Ghanaians,listen to me and give the union government idea a trial. The said drainage fund have been diverted construction and developing their strong hold areas my home town Volta so mahama and its government had to be held responsible for the ubiquitous havoc that has claimed over one hundreds life.

Everybody involved in this matter should resign immediately or the government should take appropriate action against those individuals.
