What we need to do is to intentional create a secure drainage network that takes the water from highlands to the sea. Including canal for vegetable gardening and rice in the Accra Plains at the foot of the Akwapin Ridge. Manage the water at source, Not when its already gain momentum, and can choose it own course even if blocked by the debris it is carry.

What we need is a massive re-engineering with modern technological design drainage system of our city, putting all pipes underground.

All the big time cities across the world are built on water ways and some places by claiming land from rivers and the sea.

Waking up out from the dazed horrible flood in Accra to demolish structures which has been expensively built by individual poor Ghanaians to have place to laid their head and for businesses as the government is unable to provide houses for the people is quiet outrageous and despicable exhibition of lunatism of a Mayor.

This is an inhuman Mayor, unsympathetic, uncaring and acting full with tribal and political hate on a crazy rampage without using his head and he must be stopped, and stop now before he hits the streets naked!!!

I seriously believe the "award winner" Mayor do-nothing needs his head clearly examine by a psychiatrist.

What about the ugly and unsightly development at the Agbogloshie and the Kokomba Market. the settlement of which has virtually blocked the flowing water to enter the Korle Lagoon? Bearded Oko Vanderpuye, did you not see this fiflth ? Why bring anguish to the predominantly indigenous people of Accra.? They are the weakest in the link. Is it not so? I am tempted to say the voters of Bukom deserve what they have got. Next time, they will perhaps, not go to the polls, blinded by tomfoolery and hatred. Again whose responsibility is this? Another reason is the concrete channel called Odaw. Who built this channel that has increased the volume and velocity of runoff? The government. Instead of demolishing people's homes AMA should demolish the Odaw channel and restore it to its natural state. The government is constructing an overpass at Nkrumah Circle is boasting about this. This will increase the frequency and severity of flooding by a 1000%. If you want a solution get rid of that overpass. This fire was not caused by the rains. It was caused by contaminated water from a filling station. What is Ama doing to stop this from occurring? Demolishing homes will not solve this problem. Target the government, AMA, EPA, Lands Csion, and Town & Country planning and not the poor.

covering the drains and gutters to prevent dumping 4.provide adequate
alternatives such as toilets and urinals it will cost money but In the

Certainly the advices given above by the chief exeutive and his subodinates senior officers are part of actions to address the sanitation of our cities especially the capital city Accra. But the most important actions to address the entire sanitation should come from the government and the municipal councils in the city and towns.Firstly the council should employ street cleaners in the cities for twenty four hours and the streets and rubbish vans should work in the mornings and evenings to clean and empty rubbish bins of the day in the evenings and nights.Every street trader and market traders should pay their daily rates torwards the employment of staff.Also the government and the councils should subsidise the costs.Good accoutability,transparency and the rule of law and good goverancy could address all our problems in Ghana.God save Ghana. Long live Ghana.
