The result was a Cuban-style communist dictatorship, economic mismanagement, Rawlings' chain" and abject poverty.
The revolutionaries, who were wearing tire sandals and condemned market women to death for petty profiteering, have now become billionaires and cut-throat capitalists enjoying power and money fraudulently. All through the period when Ghana was appropriately nicknamed "ojah krom", they perpetuated their rule through the gun, fear and electoral malpractices. But unfortunately, they are the same group overseeing the sinking of this country today and will do everything to rig the elections as usual to continue their mediocre rule, despite the fact that Ghanaians want them out.

Mahama claimed it was a ploy to score cheap political points. Nana Addo promised a northern development fund with a first seed money of GHS1b (billion). Mahama bought the idea and changed Kufuor's NYEP to GYEEDA, augmented it with SADA, SUBAH, imprisoned a few guinea fowls and later claimed the 'nkomfem; have all jumped bail and flown to Burkina Faso. All these would have been enough to better the lives of your northern folks to stop migrating to big cities. But alas, what have you done for them? You created, looted and shared what ought to have changed your people's lives. INDICTMENT on who? Its on you, your government and NDC. Let Rawlings tell us now who is using these poor northerners. The people who created this SODOM & GOMORAH are all from the north. The previous government decided to set up northern development fund to help bridge the gap between the south and the north. Your government ndc stole the idea and changed the name to SADA. The ndc government gave out money to people from these regions to undertake the objective of SADA. Nothing benefited the regions but only some few individuals from the north. NYP was changed to GYEEDA. What happend. NSS scandals all being run by northerners yet those living at sodom and gomorah are northerners. They all left their native BOLE to share the glory with you. NDC knows only name changing backed by no ideas.

City officials decide to the right thing and you tell them to stop bcos it will cost you votes. You build cheap concrete channels instead of proper sewage systems and you expect flood waters to flow. You build overpasses in central Accra, a flood plain, and without commensurate flood protection measures, and then blame the poor. You allow filling stations to pop up everywhere without adequate safety measures and shed tears when accidents happen. I know u guys will demolish the houses of por people to show u are doing something but it is all for show. How many poorly sited and designed bridges and culverts are you prepared to destroy to solve this problem? How many rich people are you going to tackle for their role in this mess?

It is so fascinating, sometimes bewildering when you hear what our misguided leaders tell us about the happenings around us.
Our leaders tend to ignore things and issues that will have a negative impact on our progress and development due to votes. Did our leaders not know during the beginning of Sodom and Gomorrah that the area in question was a waterway and that it will impede the free flow of water during rains. Little drops of water makes a mighty ocean.
It said that a stitch in time saves nine, as I have said in the past our leaders should stop being reactive and be proactive to move our beloved Ghana forward.
Sodom and Gomorrah must go, yes it must but there must be a serious resettlement plan before the demolition takes place. And the dirt and sand being excavated should be moved away from the dredging site if not it will be an exercise in futility.
We will wait and see what happens next year by this time. There is still time to salvage the image of Ghana Mr President so please get to work and stop talking. We have heard enough now we want to see action.

The statement by His Excellency President has validity but what I term as TBA , which means true but nonsense.
1. It shows lack of strategic vision and a dangerous narrow thinking. The inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrha are Ghanaians of other west African Sahel natives. From the Ghanaian segment although not based on scientific research they hail mostly from the northern part of the country and engaged in livestock and yams and the females mostly porters in the local markets. This implies addressing the urban pull factors by providing basic development needs, skills and employment through a well laid out plans and not initiatives tainted with corruption.
2. Devoid development initiatives from politics whether is the governing partner or when the opposition takes over. The strstegic plans laid down by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was to have Korla Lagoon be a cannal of a stream for water transport the type one sees in Bangkok, to an extend Geneva and the type we have on Akosombo. Dr. Busia had also a vision of address health through sanitation and launched a major problem to address drainage and sewage on Accra prior to his overthrow. The lazy Presidents thereafter have focused on drainage. Out of these Nkrumah and Busia era one that attempted to address the situation was President Kuffour the evidence os there in Alajo and trust we appreciated.
3. Hygiene and Sanitation under the chapeau of health in Ghana is terrible. Houses that have indoor running toilets, public stinking toilet, carrying of night soil etc still prevails. This is a result of lack of investment, greed and because people in privileged positions like myself have access to health and mrdical services in the industrialised world forgetting I have siblings, friends my community and a large proportion of my country without this privilege.
3. The inter-linkages with rural-urban migration and its impact on infrastructure. If the President has vision he would be linking this infrastructure development in thf rural areas, the impact on genrrsting energy, agriculture and relocation of the administrative capital. These inititives may sound huge but if we are to take a forensic of the corruption and embezzlement politicians have engaged in then we know how much and if this can be translated into the above mentioned initiatives.
Finally although I'm not registered with any political party and actually holding my proud Ghanaian passport and also never voted in Ghana and the only political vote I casted was my student days in the UK where students from Commonwealth countries were alllowed to vote in the UK general elections. But I need to say Ghana has always made strives forward and goes back each time when there is visionless leaders mostly witnessed under thr tenures of PNDC and NDC WHY.....because thry pretend to be socialist, idealistic based on the university days but hate to see individuals create wealth, operate under the illusion that by having political and public institutions headed by tgeir ethnic groups translates into empowerment.... the answer is NO but rather WEALTH creation ENTREPRENEURSHIP is the engine to development. Being a socialist and a student leader does not make you a gòod leader with vision but establishing a small initiative and employing others and thinking out how to keep your initiative running are the hallmarks of leadership.
Ghana as it stands today is at the crossroad of becoming a highly indebted country or rolling back the gains made under the Kuffour era which was not perfect but was on track. The yard stick is that I was not remiting home funds at the current level , he masions, carpenters and ordinary people are I know were actively engaged ......the country was moving and this was the comment one hears those days when participating in international meetings.
Let us rethink and be fooled for too long. How Long?

This situation has cowed them. Salvation cannot come this way. The only solution to all this withdrawal symptom is, Ghana must complain or appeal or ask the United Nations Organisation to force the present and past presidents - alive ones to list all donations and loans acquired in the name of the nation(Ghana)for any purpose. These presidents should show how those monies were used. UNO's audit should ascertain if those projects worth monies spent on them.
Any president found to have lost money to the nation through malpractices should refund such money to the nation .
