Go and see how Prez Mahama of Ghana has transformed Gonjaland with Ghana money just within the two and half years that he has been in power. Every town, village and hamlet in Gonjaland has received a facelift with new facilities such as roads, toilet facilities, markets, mosques, good quality water projects, electricity extension projects, etc. The question is did J. J. Rawlings do the same thing to Voltarians when he was in power for twenty years? What about Atta Mills. The good old Prof was in power for three and a half years yet he was not selfish to only concentrate on his people in Ekumfi Etuam and the central Region but rather his whole thought was for the general good. No wonder under the care of Prez Mills, Ghana achieved a growth rate of 11%, single digit inflation and the smooth implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy where newly recruited police personnel received the nominal equivalence of 500dollars as monthly salary. Compare these achievements to the nepotism and selfish policies of the Mahama government that has crippled the Ghanaian economy. I really weep for Ewes and Fantis whose votes brought Mahama to power and yet are the hardest hit by the current hardship prevailing in the country.

You are repeating exactly what Rawlings and his "let the blood flow" misguided, inexperienced youth of this country said years ago. They claimed that our older leaders had failed and they took over the country in the 80s and mismanaged it for 20years. The result was a Cuban-style communist dictatorship, economic mismanagement, Rawlings' Chain" and abject poverty.

Those revolutionary youth who were wearing tire sandals and condemned market women to death for petty profiteering, are now billionaires enjoying power and money fraudulently. Throughout the period when Ghana was called "ojah krom", they perpetuated their rule through the gun and electoral malpractices. Unfortunately, they are the ones overseeing the sinking of this country today and they will do everything in their power to rig the elections and continue their mediocre rule, despite the fact that Ghanaians want them out.

Believe me; suggesting that the "youth" should take over the running of this country again will not fly.

There is no market regulation in Ghana but government manipulation. Market regulation works two way street but in Ghana it works one way street. When prices go up, then the government practice market regulation but when prices come down, it becomes government manipulation.

In my small economic understanding, the global fuel price is drastically reduced.

Ghana chooses to retain her petrol price when other countries were reducing theirs. The unbearable prices was top up again and again last month or two with 9% increase. Now what has necessitated this 4%?

The Mahama led government is the most uncaring, heartless and unsympathetic to the suffering of the poor.

Because the government promised compensation for flood victims without knowing where the money was going to come from as it is clear the country is broke have to increase petrol price that had already shot up transport fares and food prices.

What has Ghanaians done wrong to merit such wickedness of a government?

The social problems of the late 70s and which led to the coups 1979 and 81when KLABULE was at it's peak was all because General Acheampong decided to give import licences to private businessmen to import so called ESSENTIAL commodities
The results were shortages, simply because you can't trust the Ghanaian businessman to fair as far as opportunity to make profit is concerned. Acheampong thought he could then control prices but went out of his hands and it became free for all until 1979 coup stop the nonsense. Why now, can you prevent fare increases? Because transport owners would take it upon themselves to also use every excuse to increase. Would the government stop them. Please, we forget that we have over 80% iretracy rate. Just look at what is happening with the testing of an Ebola vaccine in this country? PLEASE Mr.PRESIDENT let's stop this petrol price nonsense.

i wont call it a deregulation of fuel prices because goverment still regulates fuel prices through the use of the so called automatic adjustment formula. What the goverment has done is that it has allowed oil marketting companies to apply the formula themselves. So in effect the formular will produce a price ceilling or a maximum price. It is illegal to sell above this price and it is legall to sell at or below the price. Given that demand for fuel is inelastic, if a company reduces its price and comsumers know about it that companies revenue will increase.
